You look AMAZING! Job well done.

I'm kind of into statistics, so I'm interested in dissecting the China study. the interesting this is how the book itself dedicates just one chapter of 18 to that study - the rest is other research. Totally with you on the detox and cleanse etc. BS on an epic scale.

Did anybody actually READ the article? Carbs are fine - it's processed carbs that are bad. The ones with all the nutrients and fiber washed out of them. Whole grains and veggies are mostly carbs and you can eat as many of those as you want without concern. It's all there in the article (eat like a caveman would - veggies…

Awesome! I'd love to know some of the specifics! I went vegetarian in January and the weight DROPPED off. Thought of taking it a step further as I felt really healthy and energized on the diet and i think the higher fiber content is REALLY good for you.
-
It's very LOW calorie, but obviously not NO calorie. Just think how much popcorn you get in one of those 100 calorie snack packs. There's a ton of fiber in there too - a really smart snacking choice.

Ha! I'm from Britain so when I saw the title of this thread I spurted coffee out of my nose!!!!
-
I copied and pasted into my header. WOW - you look GORGEOUS. Amazing job!
-
I'll see your 'woot' and raise you a 'hell yeah!'

I only clicked on this because it had 'spanking' in the title! (Well, I AM British!) But welcome! I hope you'll find MFP as welcoming and useful and fun as I have. It's a great community.

I tried this, but I found it difficult to get enough fiber and, let's just say, my digestion did NOT appreciate it! Where in Norway are you from? I spent a month in Stavanger one - lovely place!
-
Hey Michelle! Welcome to MFP and congrats on the weight loss. I'm not an expert, but do you think the lap band combined with exercise might mean you're ingesting too few calories, and that's why you hit a plateau? I spent six weeks eating really lean and didn't lose a pound, and then it dropped off once I picked up my…

Glad to see I was not the only one!

The calories still count. If you're on a low carb diet, I THINK (don't hold me to this) that the insoluble fiber isn't counted as part of your carb intake (so they're 1gram of carbs, instead of 14 grams.)
-
Hey Jchecks! Glad to have you back! How long were you away? Getting back into the groove is tough, but taking that first step is always the toughest.

Isn't it belly button, NOT belly 'bottom'?

I'm the same way. I roll out of bed at 5am and drink a quart of water with Jack3D in it, then hit the gym. That gets the metabolism working and the first thing that gets burned is going to be fat, because there's no 'fuel in the tank.' Then I'll drink a shake when I get back from the gym.

I am CRAZY about Macademia nuts, but as soon as I started reading the info I knew I was in trouble! It's not like I can have just one. I'm "OM NOM NOM" and then the packet's gone!
-
I just spurted coffee out of my nose laughing so hard!

Oh! Just saw this! This might be because you're not lifting enough. You want to life as MUCH as you can for just 6 reps (or even less.) If you can do 10-12 reps, you're not lifting heavy enough and you'll get stronger, but not any bigger.

Make sure you're eating a TON of protein - at least one gram for every pound of bodyweight you WANT to be. Even though MFP is mostly used for tracking calories, you can set it to track your protein as well. Use one of the metabolism calculators to work out just how many calories you should be eating every day and aim to be…

I love those old Friday 13th movies! Can't wait to see the costume! That sounds awesome. Old Joker or new, sexy Heath Ledger joker? He was amazing in that movie. I can't believe he's no longer with us.
-
I'd avoid staying in Jersey or Brookyln - it's a schlep to get back to your hotel if you want to go out late for dinner or a show, and much more expensive by taxi.
-
This is mine, too! I bought a 34 belt the other day and I'm on the second-to-last hole on it now. I was wearing 38 when I started.

What are you planning on doing while you're there? If you're doing the tourist thing, it's worth the time and money you'll save traveling to stay in Manhattan itself. There are quite a few cheap hotels around. I can't remember the name of it, but I hooked some British friends up with one on the Upper West Side that was…

As I've been launching into weight training, I've DEFINITELY noticed this, and my libido kicking up. I'm a fairly placid guy, though, so just use some meditation and relaxation tricks to cool the tension off and throw my aggression into my lifting instead. The libido thing my wife is very happy about!

You can't make somebody lose weight - or quit smoking, or drinking, or do anything else 'good' for them. That's a decision and a journey they ultimately have to embark on alone. That doesn't mean you have to let them spoil all the good work you're doing. I had this situation with my wife for the longest time - we both…

Huzzah for use of the word 'hyperbolic' - which incidently should be the name of a weight training supplement, if it's not already.
-
That is REALLY tough. I share your pain - just started a new job where we work regularly until 8pm/9pm (it's the new 5:30, my boss tells me!) and it's tough to eat sensibly when you get home.

Interesting about the IUD. My wife had one and we loved it at first, but she ended up developing a polyp or something (I'm not sure of the details - I kind of zone out when discussing lady bits) and she had it removed. I'll tell you one thing - when she was on the pill she was a totally different person. Currently she's…

WOW! I'm impressed!! Not only did I not know that, I wouldn't have been able to work out how to find it out either! I'm in glamorous New Brunswick - the Las Vegas of Middlesex Country* *Resemblence to Las Vegas may vary.
