  • I'm team sleep, also. I think, if you don't get enough sleep, you're lifting, cardio and life in general will suffer.
  • So, he didn't want your back to get too "big", but he didn't mind if it was your booty. :) Typical, lol.
  • I also have a set I got on Amazon. Not too expensive, but definitely worth the money.
  • I wear the low tops. The only think I can think of that would make a difference, is if the high tops rub your ankles, when doing squats. If they do, you could just leave the high part unlaced.
  • I'm doing SL and use the app. Back at the beginning of April, between work and being out of town, I missed a week. When I went to do my workout and pulled up the app, it said I had missed a week and recommended I deload by 10%. I kind of played it by ear, based on my warmups. I think I deloaded on a some lifts and kept…
  • I use FitNotes and like it.
  • Yep, what @canadianlbs said. :)
  • I've seen lots of recommendations for You Are Your Own Gym, so you might check that out for body weight programs.
  • I work 2 days on, 2 off, 2 on, 3 off. They're all day shifts, 12 hrs, but I find it hard to stay consistent with days. I just do my best to stick with the plan as close to possible, but I don't do MWF, just whatever days work best with my schedule, and no more than 3 days between lifting. Do the best you can, with adequate…
  • I know nothing about China, so this may not even be possible, but I know sometimes the larger hotel chains have agreements with local gyms that allow guests to use them. Maybe something you could check in to.
  • I started at 24 Hour and it was fine. When I joined, I told them what I was interested in doing and they recommended someone who was able to help me with my form. She showed me other exercises, which was fine. It gave me a little extra knowledge. It also gave me the confidence to enter the scary free weight zone. That…
  • I just put my home gym together last month and I love it! I got a 300# set, including the bar at Academy Sports for $179. I had some nice weights picked out to buy individually, but I could pass up the price on the set. Enjoy!
  • I just converted my oldest son's bedroom to my "gym" and I love it! Here's a link to the thread I started about it, where several people posted pictures and suggestions: http://community.myfitnesspal.com/en/discussion/10320069/tell-me-about-your-home-gym#latest, if you want to check it out.

  • There are several pull-up/chin-up progression programs out there. Most of them do involve dead hangs. Also, negatives, band assists and inverted rows. Doing a chin-up is one of my goals for the year.
  • Thanks! I'm almost finished painting, so I can get the room the way I want it. I got my fractionals from Amazon, also. It was a couple of years ago, but they were $35-40. They come in handy for bench and OHP, for sure!
  • I had an awesome workout tonight! It felt so good to be truly lifting again! I didn't have to worry about panty lines showing or if my legs were shaved. No waiting on the squat rack or the bench press or finding someplace and a bar to do rows. I was able to sing out loud and even dance around. I even threw in a…
  • Got my bench and weight rack put together, so I thought I'd post a pic. I still have quite a few things to do to the room, like paint, attach the mirror to the wall in front of the rack and re-hang the ceiling fan. I'm actually going to use my gym tonight! Re-starting StrongLifts. When I got home from work…
  • Thanks! I was doing great, until it came time to put the top together. I needed 4 hands to put a bolt through a support plate, chin up bar, top side support bar and another support plate. All while balancing on a chair. As much as I hated to call in reinforcements, I was glad DH was home! I hope the bench doesn't…
  • Yay for hip thrusts! I got my rack all put together! It was trickier than I expected, so I didn't get to the bench or the plate rack. I'll be glad when I get finished, so I can actually work out, lol. Not that my back and legs aren't killing my already.
  • My bench came yesterday! I spent about 3 days on Amazon, researching and reading reviews, so I hope I made a good choice. My DH got tired of me sending him links to check out and said just buy one, already! Now I get to put it together. The room is almost finished, we just have to get the heavy bunkbed/futon out of there…
  • Thanks for sharing pictures, ladies! Hubby bought my plates yesterday!!! I had some picked out, that I found when we went shopping Saturday, but then we saw Academy had a CAP 300lb oly set on sale for $179. Hard to resist that price. I've got my rack picked out. I'm almost finished clearing out the room, so I'm…
  • @DDHFree Very nice! Thanks for sharing. @Sumiblue I'll probably be the only one using the room. My DH enjoys going to the gym. He uses the machines, dumbells and the fixed weight bars. The only time I've seen him touch a barbell, is when he spots me on bench press. We're going shopping tomorrow, probably just…
  • @tiffanylacourse I was hoping someone would share pics. Thanks!
  • Thanks, Tree. Something to think about. I don't normally take gym selfies. Unless you count my profile pic.
  • Another question - what size & weight oly bars do you have?
  • That's good to know. I'll be home alone most every time I lift. I can't believe I even thought about how I was gonna get rid of the huge mirror I have! Duh. Thanks for the tip about the horse mats. Several years ago, we had a leak around the foundation in the room I'm gonna use. My son was a teenager at the time, so I…
  • Thanks for the input and link sharing, ladies! I'm compiling my list of needs and wants and stalking Craigslist. @xcalygrl that looks like a decent rack for $199, even with shipping. I spent most of the day yesterday looking at plans for DIY power/squat racks. For that price, I might could save myself the trouble.…
  • I snuck back in, too. :) I had some reasons, which I let turn into excuses, but I'm done with that! I think my life is back on a fairly even keel and I know where my priorities are and how to fit them together. Like you, my training was pretty sporadic and now that I'm back in the gym, I'm noticing a mix of loss of…
  • Yep, that's definitely a new one. I've been wondering why I seem to be losing more hair lately.
  • Yeah, that's the way he teaches it now. It takes some practice to get it right, but when you do, it really helps!
