kkvon, thanks very mcuh for the info re how to change a goal :-) I hope everyone is having a good week. Welcome to all the new joiners and sorry to those who haven't had a good last weigh in - keep going and you'll continue to make progress. After being really quite dedicated for about 3 months I went on holiday for a…

Hova, your girlfriend is completely right! - if you're seeing changes to the tape measure that's a much better guage of how you're doing. Muscle is much more dense than fat so does weigh more. Don't loose heart! I feel the same about the accountabilitity factor - really helps me knowing that I'll be recording what I've…

Great, thanks!

Ditto all the above! Continue to cook (pretty much) what you want just be careful - low fat marj instead of butter, dressings on the salad for a salad, less carbs etc. I think small portions are the key - I've been eating off a smaller sized plate so I still have a 'full plate' and don't feel deprived (more veggies help…

Can anyone help please?!!!! MFP gave me a target loss of 6lb by the 28th Sept and I've just realised I lost exactly 6lb by the 28th September so I'm happy with that! My question is - I want to get a new target now but have no idea how to, any ideas please?!! Thanks
-
Lisa - really sounds like it is probably sodium retention - I doubt you can have put on 4lb in one week. Good luck wth the next weigh in.

Hi everybody! Weigh in tomorrow so I just wanted to say good luck! I feel really nervous, I have a really naughty weekend with loads of food and drink and no exercise at all and I am dreading that it will come back to haunt me when I stand on those scales... Looking forward to hearing everyones news!!

I lost 0.10 of a pound (I seem to have sweated out my brain, there's 16oz in a pound right?!!!!!). Not loads, but it's still coming slow and steady so i hope that means it's more likely to stay off. How's everyone else got on this week?

I hope everyone is having a good week and feeling okay about the weigh in tomorrow! Have a good and active day :-)
-
Hi to the news guys ! Good luck with you first weigh ins and don't be disheartened if it takes a while to see the weight moving - as long as you're being more active that's good for your heart. Syreeya6, don't be dismayed! Are you recording what exercise you do? Maybe try to mix it up a bit? - It sounds like you'll be…

Hi all and welcome Krysta150! I have been reading the blog at the following: http://www.myfitnesspal.com/blog/ladyofivy/view/-what-an-amazing-loss-what-worked-for-me-37914. There's about 2 dozen little articles and they are a mix of funny and inspirational. I printed a few off last night and read them whilst on the…

AnnabelleM, I don't think you can get email alerts when someone posts? - I had a look for this function too and couldn't find it. Welcome to all the people! - I hope everyone has a good weigh in tomorrow :-) Really couldn't face going to the gym after work tonight but after reading everyone's positive notes and good…

Hsquared87, thanks for your note. Changing the types of exercise might be a good idea actually - maybe that will help kick start it again a bit?? New week now though and I feel positive. Sorry about your gain this week but keep on in there. I find logging on here really helps - I guess it's something to do with being…

Thanks Lisa. I was feeling a bit down but am determined to keep on going. Yes, I have seen other changes I suppose - my clothes definately feel a little looser and I have been doing a fair bit of weight work as well as cardio so I've got little (probably no one else would notice but I'm sure they are there!) arm muscles…

I've been too afraid to weigh in this week :-( I have been trying really hard and exercising loads but I just know it's not making a difference and don't want to see thatconfirmed on the scales. I've been going for just over 2 months now and have lost 3lb (although this has probably come back on). I only wanted to loose…

AS long as you're seeing changes to your body then that's more important that what the scales say - muscle weighs more than fat so it's how you look / feel that really matters! I've eventually started to loose some weight -2lbs at the last weigh in - wow, that only took 8 weeks! I'm hoping that this is the start of things…
-
Good luck for tomorrow everyone! The thought of stepping on those scales tomorrow morning is enough to make me go to the gym tonight! I must be getting to the stage where the metabolism has sorted itself out and all my hard work for the last 6 weeks has paid off! 1lb so far just doesn't really make me happy! That said, I'm…

ahhh, that's a good point - I put my level of activity the same as I have a desk job and then would go home and not do much really 'activity' so I think I will continue to add in my walks to the station ! - I guess if you put that your level of activity is moderate or whatever the next level is then you wouldn't be able to…
-
I have a question....... If you, say walk to the train station and it's a 10 min normal pace walk, is that part of the 'normal daily activity' ie we're not meant to register it as cardio work or do we register it as 10 min cardio?? - I have a bad feeling I've been giving myself too much credit for normal daily activities…

I can sympathise completely! I weighed myself on both the gym and home scales and there was a 6lb difference. I thought the gym scales would be the most accurate (they gave the best reading too!) but having weighed myself on a friends scales at the weekend I think the home scales are correct. It means that in exactly 1…

Hope you're okay now? You can't loose weight every week (and muscle weights more than fat so that might be the reason?), just keep going - when you're better - and good luck!
-
You've got to be allowed a 'cheat' day - or in special circumstances, a 'cheat weekend'! - Good luck for today :-)
-
Am really not happy.....weighed myself this morning and for the second week running there is no change at all. I've been within my calorie goal everyday apart from a 'cheat day' and have been doing loads (I think anyway, lol) at the gym. How did everyone else get on today? - I hope you've done better - (It kinda helps to…

So, I did my weigh in this morning and I have not changed at alllllllll over the last week. I've done loads at the gym and have been quite careful with food - sticking to the calorie goal most days and making up for it with exercise if I've gone over. I'm puzzled though as I thought you were meant to loosed loads at the…

Well done!! That's great news - all the little bits of exercise sure add up !
-
3 bites of a steak - they would have to be really big bites!!! I agree with the idea of having a smaller plate or just loading it up with the 'good' things and being careful with the red meat, carbs etc. Weigh in tomorrow....

Not heard of that book, is it big in America? - I think most of you are American right? (I'm a Brit living in London). Sounds interesting - how can you tast everything but eat nothing??!! - spit it out?! - I saw that on Desparate Housewifes I think it was once - Susan put chocolates in her mouth but then spat them out…

Hi everyone, Sounds like loads of you are having great success. Annabelle_M, I didn't realise why we should be drinking so much water - now it makes sense, lol ! - Will make sure I have more water today and the rest of the week. Feeling more positive about this Thursdays weigh in than the last - had a fun filled weekend…

Not sure about the fasting for blood work but I'd have thought if you haven't eaten for a while it'll have some effect? Did my weight in this morning and have put 1.2lb back on from the last weight in.....aaaarrrgh !
-
Yeah, me too. if I have a few calories below my recommended amout the comment says that my body could be entering starvation mode but if I eat just a few too many then the number comes up big and red so I kind of feel like there's no win unless you have the exact amount every day which is nearly impossible! Having looked…
