Other ideas I just thought of are nuts and museli bars (be careful of sugar content and GI, though). I lived off of them before I got braces. And if you want something to help fill you up, poached/boiled eggs are quick, easy and veryyyy filling.

I'm happy to help! I also just had a read your profile. I totally understand about feeling too tired to go to the gym. Is going in the morning an option? I know that early wake-ups absolutely suck - I used to wake up at 5am to get to the gym before heading to work/Uni. I've found that I feel pretty much the same at the end…

I am a busy medical science student based in Australia - we're on summer holidays at the moment, but I often work full days and always pre-pack a healthy morning tea, lunch and afternoon tea. I haven't logged today (naughty cheat day :S) but feel free to check out my diary for some ideas. I don't have much variety in my…

I set my calorie goal to 1600 but try to hit about 1500. That's without exercise, of course.

^ this. It's all cherry-picking and anecdotal evidence based off of one study or some nut who decided to try to legitimise their stupid theories by making a website.

It's fine. Bring a book or something if you think that'll make it less awkward. Get that Pho!

Museli bars, carrot, celery sticks and other sliced up fruit (cucumber, capsicum, asparagus etc), nuts, a piece of fruit, yogurt, rice thins and other savoury crackers, dried fruit, those little cheese and biscuit packs you get at the supermarket (or just take a few seconds to slice up some cheese and put it in a zip-lock…

Whenever someone questions any aspect of my lifestyle, I just say that it helps with my period. That usually teaches them to keep their mouth shut.

19 year old radiotherapy student! I've lost 32kg throughout year 12 and my first year and a half of uni. Hard work!

I think that it is important to indulge occasionally. Personally, my 'cheat' days are the days when I donate blood, which is only once every 3 months. Firstly because it makes me tired as hell so I don't exercise or log anyway, but also I think that I deserve a bit of a reward for doing it! :') Otherwise, I do have the…

I'm 5"2 and about 145. I think that I can lose a bit more but I am pretty comfortable. I'm a size 12 Australian in shirts and a large 12-small 14 in pants.

The short answer: yes. The long answer: yes, but pretty much anything that's high in protein can have the same effect. Eggs is a good one for breakfast.

I agree with what that person said. The best thing you can do is to set yourself up with a dietitian. For now, the best thing to do is to stick to foods with a low GI (which your doctor has probably told you). My mother is also in the same situation as you, and we obtained some lists of Low-GI foods from the internet. Make…

I'm pretty sick of this 'low carb' crap. Eat what you want, just watch your portions! And make it nutritious while you're at it.

^ this. It may be fat reduced, but that doesn't make it calorie reduced. It can be very misleading for some people!

I think what was meant is that your body won't go "oh, you ate heaps yesterday, so let's not be as hungry today!" Well, my body doesn't, anyway. Regardless of how much I eat today, I'm still going to essentially be just as hungry tomorrow (unless I eat WAY under).

To answer your question directly, yes. A better question, however, is SHOULD you? Counting calories definitely helps lose weight, but there's remember to consider: 1. Are you getting an adequate intake of nutrients such as calcium, fiber and various vitamins? This can be hard to do on very low calorie diets. 2. Are you…

Adelaide! I live in the North East and would love a walking buddy!

Most days - 5-6 times per week, usually, sometimes more if it's particularly hot.

^ this. I can't offer too much advice because I've never been in that situation, but I know enough to understand that it's really difficult. I hope that you can get the help you need. Perhaps visit a GP with your concerns, to see what they think.

"Never eat xxxx". Only a Sith deals in absolutes. Plus every single post in this thread. Some people have some funny ideas.

5"2 and 148 lbs. You can add me!

Alllwaaayssss with the "you don't need to lose anymore weight" and "don't overwork yourself". Oh, and "you were HUGE before!" Yes, I know. Please stop reminding me (and everyone around me).

I started at 20-22, as a 162 cm tall 16-year-old. I'm now a size 12. Congratulations to all of you that have succeeded and good luck to all of you who are just getting started.

I know how you feel. One thing that I do to motivate me is to have other measurements in front of me, and I set little goals. For instance, if I'm on a treadmill, I focus on the calories and distance. I might see that I've done 200 calories and 2.6km, and I'll think to myself, "let's see if I can make it to 2.8km..." then,…

Whatever floats your boat! For me, 1200 is fine but I wouldn't be able to go any lower. So, go with what your body feels. If you're not feeling okay, then something certainly isn't right. As previously suggested, increase your calories gradually and see how you feel. Remember to monitor your weight as well - if you're…

Wow. My dad had to use a feeding tube for 2 weeks after his stem cell transplant and it was NOT pleasant in the slightest. Why would somebody *voluntarily* put themselves through that?

Maybe not *zero* calorie but low-calorie: -Slim Pasta/shirataki noodles -Pickled ginger -Lots of veggies!

HAH. I didn't realise that just because something lasts, doesn't mean it's ****ing right.
