Yes that would work for a running track (I mean, what the hell would those people be walking there for anyway?) but I mean't track as in dirt path shared by cyclists, runners, walkers etc.

As a kid I was teased for my freckles so I hated them, but now I like them. When I met my husband he complimented me on the 'nice spots' on my face (English is not his first language!). I like the German word for them best - Sommersprossen. It translates literally as 'summer sprouts'. So cute!

I have the same problem here in London, although it's the opposite side of the path obviously...

Sounds like you're onto something with the website idea. Perhaps you should make one? You could join up with other runners and each do a survey of your areas and link them together.

Guys making comments about my *kitten*. Or about anything. Even compliments. Just leave me alone to run in peace! Large family groups spread out over the track, completely oblivious to anyone around them. Also, I'm obviously easily irritated but yesterday I had to speed up to get away from a fellow runner with the most…

THIS ^^ Love it!

I do this, using a basic Scandinavian recipe. 50g oats 1 green apple, grated soy milk, to cover I just mix the above, refigerate overnight, then either eat it as is or sprinkle a little unrefined sugar or honey on top.

I finally regained my 29" waist and got under the 160lb I've been hovering around for months!

I'm not so convinced about all the advice to do squats etc. I read an article by a personal trainer about exercising for your body type which said that if you're pear shaped (which I am) then you probably already have quite a lot of muscle on your thighs and doing squats etc will only increase that muscle. The advice was…

Oh, I forgot you add, make sure you also SPEND TIME APART! I don't mean days or weeks on end, but I think it helps if you keep some hobbies and friends separate, otherwise you won't have anything new to talk about and easily get bored of each other!
-
So much great advice on here that I probably don't need to add anything, but here are my 2 cents worth. Make sure you spend time alone together without kids, work etc. It's easy to get distracted by day to day life. Time alone together is really important to strengthen the bond between you. Be silly together, have fun! If…

So true! When I notice people buying rubbish my thoughts generally run to how bad that is for you, rather than how fat that might make you. On another note, it's really very easy to be overweight on a healthy diet. That's how I put on weight - healthy food, just too much of it and not enough exercise. Healthy food does not…

This! I only really notice when people are buying LOADS of crap food, but I don't really notice their weight unless they are eye-poppingly huge. I have noticed faces sometimes though and that they look malnourished.

Lol. A friend once said this to a patient in a psychiatric hospital during afternoon tea. The reply was.. 'A fruitcake?', meant quite literally I'm told!

Just to update, I now have BF% calculation which is at 29.6%. Also updated my activity levels as I seem to be consistenly doing more activity. New current BMR is actually 1483, and goal weight BMR is either 1477 (using projected BF %) or 1435 (using current height).

I have a Suunto T3C with dual comfort belt. I bought it 2nd hand on ebay and it's been good so far (only had a week). I like it because it's easy to use, keeps a log of up to 15 workouts at a time and has a function called Training Effect that tells you what impact each workout has on your overall fitness, whether it's…

There is a group on here called 'Eating for future you' that might interest you. It's all about eating above your BMR for sustainable weight loss, to try and avoid plateaus and also to lose fat rather than lean body mass.

Progress end of Week 4 Current BMR = 1517 Goal Weight BMR = 1413 Haven't had a rest day this week so the net calories are lower than usual. Average calorie intake per day = 2204 Average Exercise burn per day = 759 Average Net Calories = 1445 Slight weight gain but there are non diet related factors affecting that at the…

I'm going to start with the last part first if you don't mind! You should never be eating less than you burn. By that I mean your Net calories (what you're left with after you deduct your exercise from your total) should be a positive number. When you log exercise MFP will automatically change your calorie goal for the day…

Go to Settings (between Help and Logout at the top of the screen) and then Automatic News Feed update settings and change your preferences.

Yes it does, and that's the point for me because I neither need nor want help in that department. I'm happy for people to know what I eat but I really want to avoid unsolicited advice and any WTG! comments, and I know from experience that most of my MFP friends think staying under (and I'm talking 100s of calories under)…
-
Heybales, I totally agree! And I was doing exactly that in the beginning, enjoying seeing how much I could potentially lose by undercutting my calories. I really think some of these settings need to be improved as they can be very misleading!
-
Exactly, that's the problem!
-
This is why I never congratulate my friends on coming in under their calorie goal! That goal is there for a reason and if you don't reach it you're not sticking to your programme! I made my diary completion private for this reason, I don't want people telling me how awesome it is that I didn't eat enough.

Actually I'd love to spend a day in the kitchen with Michel Roux Jnr or Raymond Blanc, or both!

Great post. Will re-read for those times when I lose motivation!

I agree, the fewer added (and seemingly unnecessary) ingredients the better.

Thanks Heybales. I was only sick the one day, nothing serious. Great job on your progress report by the way. My major exercise is walking to and from work 5 days a week (occassionally a day off if it's raining etc). It used to take me 90 minutes but now I'm getting there in about 80 minutes. Not surprising I suppose as…
