Anyone have a heart rate monitor that they are really satisfied with? Please tell me why you like it and how much it cost. Thanks so much!

  • I have a Suunto T3C with dual comfort belt. I bought it 2nd hand on ebay and it's been good so far (only had a week). I like it because it's easy to use, keeps a log of up to 15 workouts at a time and has a function called Training Effect that tells you what impact each workout has on your overall fitness, whether it's helping you maintain current level or improving etc. Also, the belt is very comfortable and I don't really notice I'm wearing it. The watch itself is nice looking too. You can get options to use with it too such as a foot pod which clips onto your shoe to measure distance and speed. I don't have one yet but now looking on ebay for one as I want to use it for running.

I've never used any of the other brands so don't know how they compare.

    Hope that helps!
  • Thanks! Anyone else have suggestions or a favorite HRM?

At the recommendation of two friends, I picked up the Polar FT4. I'm definitely loving it so far.
  • Hey Adam - thanks for the recommendation. Do you remember how much it cost ya? Does it clip on your wrist?

I just got the Garmin Frontrunner 60 from ebay for $100 it came with the watch, chest strap, foot pod and Ant+ to wirelessy sync and I love it!! I use it and then all I have to do is go home and put the watch by my computer and it automatically syncs my infomation to Garmin Connect, my Health Insurance website (we earn points) and my Body Media.. it's great and I love it! the strap is super comfy, I got the mens watch and it's a little uncomfortable, but it's a big and bulky for a man... it also has so you can do cadence on the watch if your a spinner as well. And has up to 5 programmable screens!

    http://www.amazon.com/New-Balance-Heart-Rate-Monitor/dp/B003A0QEMU

I bought this new balance women's heart rate monitor a month ago and it's extremely accurate! It doesn't get intefered with other machines at the gym and it's ridiculously easy to figure out how to use. I paid $65 for it but I see there are ones for around $55 on amazon as well. I didn't have the cash to dish out on a really fancy heart rate monitor and this one gets the job done. I wouldn't go for it if you want a heart rate monitor that tracks your distance, but this can set heart rate goals, monitor calorie burn and save 9 workouts and I don't feel it whatsoever when I'm exercising. It's also not overwhelming on my wrist as it is small but very east to read as well.

I have a polar F4 and LOVE it. I have had it for more than 5 years now and its still awesome. I have had to replace the battery twice but considering how much use I get out of it, no big deal. I swim, bike, run with it. It has a chest strap and is just a watch, its a little bulky but very easy to use/read. I forget how much I paid for it.. Probably between $100 and $150 if I had to guess. BEST INVESTMENT EVER!!

Yes, it was about $65 on Amazon.com

It has a chest strap (as all good HRMs should) and wrist watch - that can work as a regular watch when not in use, but also shows calories burned, time spent in zone, average heart rate, etc. It's pretty easy to use for all the great stuff you get out of it.

Also, it is coded so you won't get interferance from other fitness watches/machines, and the battery is also user-replaceable, which is HUGELY important. Nothing worse than having to send your entire watch in just to get a battery replaced.
