Not to stretch?? That's very poor advice. Rest and proper runners will sort your shins if it's shin splints. You really need to stretch though, I've just had a week of hassle with my calf through not stretching.

It would probably work, but do you really want to eat a 1,500 cal pizza? For me, a major part of getting into shape and staying there, is getting away from that kind of food. As for the calories burned, the nubers look reasonable but your really need a hrm for accuracy.

Interval training. Vary the speed and/or the incline. I do 1 minute at a slow jog, then 1 minute at a fast run. Keeps the mind active.
