If you're worried about your supply, up your calories. When my baby was a newborn I aimed for 1800 - 2000 calories (I added on 500cals). If you're not losing weight, you can always reduce your calories 100 at a time until you find a tipping point. If your baby is very new your body is also healing and you have a lot of…

lol I did this diet multiple times in my early 20's. Never made it past the bananas. I wish I could go back and tell myself to stop with the crazy crash dieting and just learn how to live. I wasn't even that overweight. I bet there are tons of us spanning the 4 years of this thread with the same story.

My guess would be the MFP number doesn't include your BMR, it's the "extra" calories you have burned. Fitbit will be BMR + the extra cals you burned from exercising.

Maybe just make a commitment to maintain your weight for a while? Then when you're feeling a little more stable, you can lose what you've gained. 20lbs is not a huge amount to lose again, holding still might be the best thing for you for the minute.

I've been periodically checking in on this thread. Bit worried that you haven't posted, I hope your surgery went really well and you're busy recovering and living life with less skin :)

Only when it's not a kilocalorie... Sorry, that wasn't useful but I just couldn't resist ;) There are people on both sides of the fence. My opinion that strictly speaking for losing weight, all calories are created equal. But for general health, energy and wellbeing, you probably should limit junk food where possible :)

Drives me batty when I go to buy measuring spoons in Australia and find the tablespoon only measures 15ml. That's a whole teaspoon I'm missing out on! (I'm guessing tablespoons are 15ml in the States?) I do everything metric, but as the child of a Briton, certain things are measured in imperial - most notably babies and…

I'm sorry to hear you had a stroke. It sounds like you know you could have a better quality of life, but the changes you feel you have to make are really overwhelming you. My suggestion is to set your MFP settings for maintaining just for now. Just log your food (with food scales preferably) and make your goal not to gain…

Also a calcium/magnesium supplement in the second half of your cycle (ovulation through to the first few days of your period) can help even out that dip in supply Info here: http://kellymom.com/bf/can-i-breastfeed/herbs/natural-treatments/ (you'll need to scroll down a bit)

Article on Freezer Stash: http://www.workandpump.com/freezerstash.htm The one that talks about supply boosting, sending what you pump etc http://www.workandpump.com/freezerstash.htm The whole website was quite interesting, and one that I had not seen come up in google searches very often. It has a few ideas that I had not…

Glad to hear that you figured out the problem and everything has returned to normal :) I noticed you mentioned supplementing from your freezer stash, and it reminded me of an article I read a few years ago. It talked about how supplementing from your freezer can lead to a decrease in supply - every meal your baby is fed…

How many calories are you eating when you try to lose weight? You hopefully don't have to weight until you're done nursing, but you might need to be ok with a slower rate of loss. The rough figure for breastfeeding is 500cals extra a day, and that seems to be reasonably accurate for me, based on what I've observed so far.…

Vegemite! Back in my 1200 calorie days, I used to have it without butter/marg, but it's best when you have lots of butter first :) Hrm I don't think that was actually a helpful contribution, let me try again… Be careful of the Olive Oil spreads, in theory they sound healthier, but a lot of them have more trans fats than…

Mostly you'll just have really expensive wee…. (I mean pee… do Americans say wee?)

Congratulations :) After years and years of yo-yo dieting, my pregnancy with my firstborn was the moment went I decided to learn to trust my body to tell me when it was hungry. So if I was hungry, I ate (oh how I ate!!) I gained approx 15kg/30pounds with both of my pregnancies and both times I'd lost all of that weight…

I had a 745 calorie cupcake a few days ago. I knew it was pretty big but I never would have guessed quite that much.

Oooh I'll be interested to hear how you go. I believe the red and yellow flavours are awful. :D

Forgive me but I need to but in with a picture of our ham, we take ham very seriously in this household. Unfortunately we'd already eaten the end off it before we thought to take a photo (Baby for scale purposes... we wont be eating her...)

Well said! We all find ourselves here sometimes, just got to pick up and move on.

I second this! I'm all for a nice clean sugar rush, but certain food colours can turn my darling daughter into the bogan child from hell. It lasts about three days and then you get another three days of a sad, withdrawn little girl. Fortunately everyone in our lives is reasonably good about finding alternatives. The whole…

I agree! It can happen to anyone, and it's hard to know when the baby blues turns into PND. Here's a test that is commonly done by child health nurses (at least in Australia it is) that can help you objectively decide if there is a problem:…

I've got a 5 week old baby too :) But I'm nearly 15 years older than you and this is my second baby. At 5 weeks post partum, your body has not finished its work. Your uterus is still shrinking back to its original size, so yes, your belly will be squishy! Your hormone levels have not returned to normal and it will be…

Do some pushups before and other upper body exercises of your choice in the hour or two before the shoot. Always pumps my hubby up to look extra good! Hope you like how your photos turn out :)
