  • Because a lot of people want us fat girls to be depressed. It justifies the thought that we are all unhealthy slobs who envy any skinny person. It kinda goes along with when a heavy person criticizes a skinny person, it's just because we are jealous or envious, not because we may have a valid point. I admit to not having a…
  • Congrats!
  • My first instinct is to try and educate them, but then I think why bother. I'm not sure that is the right way to respond (a non-response) since it's just ignorance on their part.
  • I'll agree with the poster above. It sounds like you need a good arch support. The bigger we are, the harder the arches fall I guess. I have the same problem off and on. IF the orthotics don't help, I would go see the doctor. If you went from sedentary to active quickly, your bones may have small stress fractures in them…
  • Between this and the Yonana machine, I am in heaven with healthy treats.

  • Sorcha Griannon... Fiery Sunhouse in Irish Gaelige. I chose each name separately, out of different books, only later learning the meanings (and that they go together well). I've been Sorcha for so long (1999-ish) I answer to it like my own name. I also use it at Ren faire
  • I think a lot of it is overweight people like myself are just easy targets. We (as a whole) tend to not defend ourselves and will just stand there and take it, perhaps acting like we don't hear the comments directed at us. There is a lot of self-hate as well, because of what we hear constantly from society, and a lot of us…
  • I am on the journey of major weight loss, and I worry about this. When I go to the supermarket to buy food for my family, I will watch the checker be outgoing and friendly with everyone in front of me, yet she can barely return my greeting or look at me. I'm friendly, and try to be polite when every I am out and about, but…
  • Congrats and good luck!
  • Thanks everyone for the good thoughts!
  • Oh, I am in love with PB2 as well. I use it (mostly) mixed in with my chocolate protein shakes. It makes it taste like a liquid Reese's Peanut Butter Cup.
  • Yeah, the berry multivits are hideous. I have to add water to my mouth just to get them down. Now the Mint Calcium from them are awesome, so I may try mint in the vits next time
  • I used Bariatric Advantage's protein. Out of all that I have tried, these have no whey aftertaste like some others.
  • If you can't be helpful, keep your attitude to yourself. She's asking a legitimate question. (in response to Misiaxcore)
  • I am soo in. I need to have a goal (mileage) while I am on my recumbent bike, and this fits the bill.
  • Just an update: I have been cleared by the bariatrician and the mental health worker. So, what that means is within a couple weeks, I will get a call from the surgeon's office setting up the appointment with him (it's one of 2 surgeons). From there, it will be another couple weeks (I hope) till the actual appointment. When…
  • I still eat carbs and meat, but I understand what you are saying. I barely can finish my little plate of food and have no desire for more, while the husband complains that the double portion (or more) of his large plate wasn't enough (he has a great metabolism and has been "too skinny" most of his life...now is only 20 lbs…
  • I got mine about 2 weeks ago, and am in love with it. I use it in my chocolate protein drink, and it ends up tasting just like a reese's peanut butter cup. I'm planning on trying it when I cook as well, but for now, it's totally my favorite add-in:)
  • Thanks everyone. Yeah, I am almost there, yay! I tend to analyse everything, so I did a lot of research before deciding to ask if it was a covered benefit. I wish I had earlier:) I'll definitely check in here often!
  • I just got my order of it yesterday. I mixed it into my Bariatric Advantage Chocolate protein drink, and it tasted like a liquid peanut butter cup. I need to play with it a bit and see what I can mix it with. I know they had a few recipes on the website.
  • I want to keep up with my 2 girls (7 and 4 years old). I want to be able to walk into a store and NOT have to worry if they carry my size. It is embarrassing to ask, and I feel pathetic looking around the racks for my size. I want to be able to start sewing garb for various faires again, without breaking the bank buying…
  • I'm one of the unfortunate people that gained weight, and the face didn't stay pretty, so I haven't had that experience. But I can just imagine how frustrating and even, sabotaging, to one's weight loss effort. Whether you are pretty or not should never be tempered by the "for a heavyset girl/for a big girl". Keep your…
  • Wow, poor girl was only stating her feeling of disallution (sp?) with the government and her feeling like she wanted to live elsewhere. Whether it's just a knee-jerk reaction to something she read, or something she has thought about for a while, it's her decision to make. Some of the comments directed at her were just…
  • Hi all. I'm a 351 lb mother of 2 young girls (3 & 6 years). My highest weight was about 370. I am currently awaiting a call from the insurance caseworker on when I will continue the process of getting weight loss surgery. I have a meeting with a nutritionist, mental health, and with the surgeon left to go (I already went…
