Yes. The -30C windchill and 4' of snow.

In answer to those who said 'outside'.....not sure where the OP lives, but I know that we live in rural Southern Manitoba where there is 4' of snow on the ground, our roads are plowed when the drifts reach a foot themselves, we've just gotten out of a 4mth long stretch of -40 windchills (take your pick - Fahrenheit or…

I wore my HRM while shovelling AND using the snowblower and after not quite an hour and a half, I'd burned almost 900 calories!(A typical 'workout' for me is 350-500 in a hour) Granted for every swipe of the snowblower I had to break up the 18" drift with a shovel first!

I am 5'9.5" and I have yoyo'd over the years due to gaining weight while in nursing schol, then 4 pregnancies (last one being twins). After my third babe I got down to 150lb and a size 29 jean (36"leg). Four years later the twins arrived. After them I started my journey at about 160lb. Today, I am 149lb and still a size 31…

I had to laugh at that height description because that's me through and through - but - its amazing how the difference in two people's bodies becomes obvious. My stats are EXACTLY the same as yours - yet I can't get into anything less than a 12. I can squeeze into a 10 if I really really try hard, but 12 is the comfy size!…

I'm a Mum of 5. My oldest is a girl at 11yrs , then 4 boys ages 9,8 and 4yr old twins!

A wonderful difference! :) Give you that proof you need that you're on the right journey!

Thank you! Its taken a bit of work and a few years since the last kids were born (I have 5 total). I am the same when I see people my height wanting to get down to 130 - there is no way I could do it. I'm not even sure I could safely get to 140 without looking scrawny! Now my goal is to just gain muscle and not so much…

This is me at 5'9" tall and weighing 154lb. I fluctuate between 151 and 154 depending on what I've eaten that day. I would like to trade a bit of the 'back fat' for some muscle and I'd love to get rid of a bit more in the belly but right now I'm happy with how far I've come. And wow - sorry for how big that is! Totally IN…

She told us her weight and height.... My biggest advice is to tell you that you need to choose what makes YOU happy. If you feel you are not healthy then yes - you need to find something in your lifestyle to change. It definitely helps when you have support, but - if YOU choose to make changes you will need to request that…

That's the best success story yet! What an awesome gift you gave your son - and yourself! :)

YAY! Glad you've found something that works! For me, I found that just by cutting out grains my carbs automatically dropped. I didn't go 'lower carb' on purpose - it just naturally occurred.
-
Awesome results in the time you did get to spend on it!! Now go for another round and see the changes again! :) Motivation in its finest!

No scientific experience or links to prove it. Just personal experience. My husband drank diet soda along with water. Averaged 3 cans a day. He stopped the pop - went through three days of hellacious headaches (while replacing that pop with water) and mood swings and then over the next month proceeded to drop 15lb of…

Ditto this exactly! I use both depending on what I am doing. To drink straight up or with protein powder? Almond milk. In a smoothie that has pineapple? Coconut milk. I just buy the canned stuff,I shake it real good and use that. Or, I let it separate, use the water for smoothies and I whip up the cream to have over fruit!

Awesome job!! As the wife of a fellow 42yr old who is currently on a similar path in life with adjusting his goal I say WAY TO GO! Its awesome to see and I'm sure your wife is just as proud of you as I am of my husband! :)

To be honest, eating gluten free is cheaper than eating gluten products. When I became gluten free I stopped eating breads and pastas. I replaced them with more vegetables and healthy fats and proteins. My grocery bill has not changed. IF you buy the specially made gluten free cookies, and breads, and pastas and treats etc…

Your experience is exactly why I know that although I weigh the same as I did five yrs ago before my last pregnancy, I am not the same size. I still don't fit those jeans that were my fave. My BF is much higher and I have less muscle mass. THat is so awesome that you have had such a great NSV! congrats on some hard work!

If you want to keep your oatmeal as instant, but save money - buy the quick oats, then quickly pulse some of them in a food processor. Take 1/4c un-pulsed oats and 1 TBSP pulsed oats. There is your package of 'instant' oatmeal. Cook it the same as you would the prepackaged kind.

Eat clean, avoid the processed foods. Best way to detox. I've also heard that chia seeds are great for 'detoxing' by allowing toxins to sitck in the gelatinous stuff they make when mixed with water and then 'out they go' the normal exit. Plus Cilantro is apparently a good 'detoxer'. But those are healthy things you can ADD…

Ditto! More fats, less empty carbs. That's what works for me personally.
-
Awesome work!! And what a gift you have given your children!
-
Exactly that. By cutting out the bread, pasta and rice along with sugars not naturally present in foods I automatically dropped my carbs. Drinking water instead of juice and eating the entire orange or apple was another big change!
-
When I cut back on my carbs I found that adding in more healthy fats helped. Avocadoes, coconut milk etc. The fat took the place of the starchy carbs. When I stick to that I feel good.
-
I can't get my carbs that low - I find I do better with the 75-100g range personally. In regards to the fibre - I found that when I a) cut grains out and b) increased my fats, I no longer worried about fibre and have had better business in that 'area' then I have in many many many many years.

Way to go!!

Awesome work!!!

Awesome work!!! I ADORE your wedding dress! :) :) Congrats on a journey well earned!
