  • hey, i really suggest weight training for your overall body as well as cardio. do squats and lunges (with or without weight) to lightly bulk your lower body (believe me my butt is one thing i refuse to lose and thses exercises are great for building/toning up those muscles) upper body: pushups, bicep curl, tricep dips etc…
  • to beckynovak im only 2 years older than your daughter and to have pcos at this age really sucks but please do not give her the option to exercise. MAKE IT MANDATORY. i've been there going through high school depressed and insomniac is a horrible experience and will really ruin that time of her life i dont even go to the…
  • Hi, im pretty sure i have pcos but i've kind of overcome it in a way. not cure mind you (im still hairy as chewbaca) but ive gotten my cycles on point and my weight is dropping at an okay rate. instead of doing traditional medicine i stuck by my culture which believes in herbal remedies. 1. have a mostly/all vegetarian…
  • OP are you bottom heavy? because even when my legs have a low amount of fat they can get huge because they bulk incredibly fast. are you just trying to lose weight or gain a certain figure?
  • umm you do realize a lot of males this age do not have a brain right? just ignore them and continue pushing on because in a couple of years those same boys could be sporting beer bellies and receding hairlines
  • i understand what you're saying. its even worse if your're tall like me. i'm 6 feet so everyone thinks that losing 30 pounds (which would put me in healthy range) will make me look like a stick. i have no intention of looking like a stick so ill keep losing until i feel comfortable whether that'll be more or less than 30…
  • hi im sorry that you had to go through all that. its difficult when religious matters clash with physical/worldly and sometimes even when the obvious answer is to stay true to our faith we have to take a moment to really see whats ahead of us. if fasting would trigger a downward spiral then i doubt Anyone would want use to…
  • thanks ill do that. im also not going to take the calorie thing too seriously since im estimating portions so i might be eating more calories than logged and just freaking out for no reason
  • i dont want to completely cut carbs thats just silly and i already only eat whole grains and oatmeal - nothing white, i was just having too much. and i'm trying to keep my sodium under 2500 at all times preferably under 2000. so even if i cook myself anything else packaged still adds up fast i suppose ill up the fruit but…
  • even if you dont beat it before you can do it while you're there i started using the gym there and lost 15 pounds without much effort. find buddies to go with. and make time, even if you have an exam the next day going for half an house can restart your brain and aid in studying. so best of luck
  • lunges/squats especially with weights seem to be the number one exercise for me i want to keep the booty so i also do donkey kicks, pelvic tilts and other exercises that i dont know the names off so ill tone and build. you should also tone your lower abs to take some strain off your back when doing lower body workouts.…
  • I'm pretty sure you can make your own pizza which would be cheaper, healthier and you'd burn more calories making it and appreciate more than if you just ordered from your couch or threw something in the microwave. make mini pizzas with wheat tortillas/pita bread, baked/teriyaki chicken slices, low fat low salt tomato…

  • welcome grandpa (i refer to all elderly folks this way, cultural thing), i really hope you get to your goal. it always warms my heart to see an older person be active about their health and you seem to be doing well so far so i wish you continued success.
  • HI, both myself and a friend of mine had the same problem as you, irregular periods and odd gaining. while it is alot of times genetic you can force your body to go to a regular schedule if you use certain Superfoods. ever since i started taking them i've started losing weight on top of have my T.O.M come almost the same…

  • in all honesty im not really appalled if we get more people at that restaurant we could have human bowling balls, it'd be an interesting and fun sport. anyway people make the decision to go there. its not the end of the world if you go once but making a habit of it is their choice. if that customer croaks then so be it,…

  • welcome! im a college student too and it was when i started going to the universities gym that i realized i could really whip myself into shape since i saw such a diverse crowd of people (in shape, outta shape, and everything in between) and i didnt have to feel self conscious about what i looked (or smelled) like. its…

  • i think part of it really is a cultural thing. where i come from thin was never beautiful, curvy with some fat was seen as ideal so being a little chubby was never a bad thing and i kept that in mind when i moved to america. sometimes people would say i was 'fat' or too toned (i gain muscle easily) but i simply asked them…
  • i think teas in general are a great weight loss aid mostly because (well for me) it curbs my appetite, particularly at night and helps me sleep well. i'm not a big green tea fan :ohwell: but i mix it with mint and ginger or drink rooibos. but herbal or infusions are great! never needed coffee/lattes because of tea. good…

  • well the half a cup smoothie is what i drink right after my workout but before lunch. i might feel hungry right after workout but i cant eat much so a smoothie is a good alternative (i don't have protein drinks) and in all honesty i've eaten like this most of my life i think and kept a healthy weight until i came to…
  • but wouldn't nutrient dense foods (tuna, nuts, veggies, fruit) fill you up quickly and for a longer time while being low in calories. would it still be bad since you're getting all your nutrients anyway? I ask because i tend to eat ALOT of veggies, fish, etc
  • Oh just wanted to say that my first goal isnt to lose weight as fast as possible but to eat as well as possible well usually my protein intake is much higher but it is spinach night so its treated like a protein. but in all honesty im not used to eating so often, or even eating alot (lived in a third world country most of…
  • as long as you don't do a 'thanksgiving' type binge then one muffin really wont harm especially if you're not adding a deathly amount of sugar. the thing about healthy living is balance which means eating things you like or want even if its not considered great. i occasionally have chocolate (yum!) or ice cream, especially…
