  • This is very interesting. I always thought that if you didn't eat back those exercise calories, you'd loose the weight faster! I feel like this would be difficult - I workout 4x a week and burn at least 700 calories. Just seems like alot of calories to eat back (without eating junk!). Any advice is appreciated!
  • Thanks, Vaston. Very insightful :)
  • I disagree, Woja. If you are eating the recommended 1200 calories per day you are not going into starvation mode. If you eat less than 1200, yes that would apply then.
  • If you eat the 400 calories you've burned off, you will loose weight. However, if you don't eat those 400 calories, you'll loose the weight faster :)
  • I wouldn't do it. Although I agree with the other posts that women should take control of their own life, the men still want to be 'the man' as society dictates they are. It's an ego thing that's accompanied with a fear of rejection!! When you see this guy in your local coffee shop and he compliments you - he's seeing how…
  • Thanks for replying.. Then why do protein bars have so many calories?
  • Thank you for posting this info - it's really very helpful. I'm just starting P90X (on day 10) and I was wondering why their nutrition plan didn't include 'low calorie' meals. Instead, the meals are high in protein and you're eating MORE calories than you normally would. Now I understand why! I'm trying to loose a few…
  • Back in college, I was a victim of the freshman 15 also! All the beers, late night snacking and stress eating - it's a wonder I didn't see it coming! While I'm not in that situation anymore, I can tell you that a LOT of people are and some don't loose it after college. It's really great that you're taking the right steps…
  • arbragg - the HRM's calculates the calories burned for you. You don't need to do anything :)
  • I just got a heart rate monitor for Christmas and I LOVE it so far. It's called the Sportline 915 Women's Solo Heart Rate Watch and you don't have to wear a chest strap! Very easy to use and affordable (regularly $60, but on sale for $43 at Amazon). I love having a heart rate monitor mostly because it keeps track of…
  • Is there a YMCA or another business in your area where you could take classes? I burn at LEAST 600 calories doing a 60 minute class of Jazzercise and it never gets boring :)
  • It sounds like you aren't 'eating' the calories you burn during exercise, which will always help you loose weight faster. If you're working out 5 days a week, you're probably doing a good amount. Not sure exactly what you're doing during your workout, but adding some strength training in there will help you build muscle,…
  • My suggestion - get back on the treadmill tonight and set it for your weight. Try to burn the 1,000 calories - if you can't do it tonight then make it your goal to accomplish it!!! 1,000 is a crazy amount to loose during a workout, but at least you'll be able to say you did it and KNOW it's true :)
  • You should eat your exercise calories. Since you're working out 6 times a week, you don't want to feel like you aren't eating enough.
  • shinybonnie - Have you heard of Jazzercise? It's an amazing and FUN exercise program. I'm not sure if there are classes in your area, but if not try to get your hands on a video. Great workout that I would reccomend to anyone - it's the best I've ever come across.
  • Congrats hgirl!!! I recently fit into my 'small jeans' and what a wonderful feeling!! Definitely needed for extra motivation..
  • You can get chicken (drumsticks, thighs) - put them in the crockpot and cover with any kind of BBQ sauce. I've made this a few times and it is delicious!! The meat comes right off the bone because it's been cooking all day - so yummy!! I usually serve with corn or roasted potatoes (EVOO, S&P grill in the oven). Hope this…
