Running my first marathon in Lowell on Oct. 21, and signed up for Disney on 1/13/13. Feel free to add me if you would like, I am pretty much 'winging' it by reading articles and taking advise from seasoned runners. :)

So thankful my gym is in my basement and my 'treadmill' is the open road! Great read. :)

Sometimes your body lets you know you need to take a break. It may be nothing serious, but it can't hurt to bring it to your doctor's attention. Take a break for a day, a couple of days, even a week, until you feel your knee is ready to start being worked on again. You know your body better than anyone else! :)

@MNChick, the fourth one on the top row in a green t-shirt. You have a very sweet smile. :)

For a 5k (or 10k) probably not more than 30 minutes, but they are all over the place where I live. There is a race I like to do in Salem MA (home of Halloween), that they do right around Halloween that is 6.66 miles. I enjoy that one, and drive a little over an hour for it, but I stay at my brother's house. I drove a…

I wouldn't mind joining, but there doesn't appear to be any option for 'tag' (or friends for that matter?!) on the new Nike+ site. I don't have an iPhone, I just use my Nike+ GPS watch and plug it into my computer when I'm done. I must be missing something? -=embarrassed shrug=- Well, I found 'friends', but no 'tag' on the…

It isn't even remotely true. Running burns fat. Lifting weights burns fat. Eating at a caloric deficit encourages your body to use fat stores. Exercise + Eating Healthy = PROFIT!

They make a spray that tastes like bitter apples that we used to train our dogs, they really hated the taste. That and constant supervision/correction are pretty much all I can suggest.

Still ugly, but healthy! :)

.. and you're HUGE (in a good way). 260 is ABSOLUTELY AMAZING!

I had lost 30 pounds without exercise (basically starved myself), and then slipped back into drinking. Before I knew it I had ballooned up to 260 pounds (I'm only 5'7"). I had a very serious chat with myself one night about how this lifestyle was going to kill me, and I was never going to see my two little girls grow up. I…

Running is my newest addiction (about 3 years now), and I am gearing up to run my first marathon on 1/1/13 in Disney. (Though my MFP friends know that I am going to attempt a trial one at a local marathon about 2 months before that). You can read about my training and my thoughts on it if you are so inclined here:…

You look great! And 35 pounds is not a small amount by any stretch of the imagination, you should be very proud of your hard work. :) Congratulations.
