  • Eat more! I'm hungry just looking at how skimpy your food intake is. Your body needs fuel especially if you're earning 900 calories/day in exercise. And be patient. Healthy loss is no more than 2 lbs. a week (and for most people that's pushing it; more like 1 lb./week).
  • I really love my Grid roller but wish I'd gotten the longer model (link below). And it's orange! It's worth the extra $$$. My cheaper ones were ineffective after about a month or so but I've had the Grid for about 6 months and it's still good as new.…
  • If you have Fiesta Foods (mostly in TX, I think), that's a great place for it. Or look up Mediterranean or Middle Eastern markets in your area. Some people use peanut butter instead. This is my favorite recipe--very creamy like Sabra hummus (I halve the oil when I want to cut calories):…
  • There's not? And here I was hoping some big sweaty hunka-hunka would come after me (doubtful that my hubby would care for that, though). I typically use 40 lbs. for the back track in Body Pump with good form but with 65 in SL my form was utter crap and I could barely finish 5x5 (slightly different move as well--usually row…
  • Great, thanks! My form was awful, so I'll try with just the bar next time...
  • The first was planned, the second absolutely was not but he was the best surprise ever. They're 15 months apart to the day.
  • I am two years into my second Mirena and haven't seen any weight gain, aside from when I'm eating like it's my job.
  • Thank you! As for form, I already am going to parallel in Pump, so I think I'm set for squats. (I looked at Mehdi's YouTube videos and he was doing the same form taught in our classes for everything but deadlifts, which are bottom-up in SL rather than the other way around in Pump.) I checked out the equipment at…
  • Yes. After donating whole blood it took me a good 3-4 weeks to have a good run again, and I was just kind of tired with my other workouts for a few days afterward. So yes, work out beforehand.
  • Oh yeah, times are all over the place. My first 5K about a year ago was 34 minutes (though when it's really hot/humid here in Houston, it can be a struggle to finish in 37 minutes!). Through speedwork and a little weight loss, I did 30:32 yesterday. But a friend started running a few months ago and immediately was at an…
  • This! A woman was behind me in Body Pump and after class told me I arched my back during squats. Um, yeah, I'm not arching my back; I have a bit too much of a natural curve in my lower back, but thanks for noticing. Oh, and if you're going commando please check in the mirror to make sure your spandex doesn't become…
  • That's great!!! Biking is great, and with the family it's so much better. My unsolicited advice on learning how to ride a bike: take the pedals (and training wheels) off your daughter's bike (they usually just twist off like a screw) and lower the seat so her feet touch the ground while she's sitting. Then have her work…

  • I do! It'll be my third but I'm planning to actually run it for time rather than finishing. It's in late November.
  • $88/month for family membership (2 adults/2 kids) at our Y, includes child care and all classes. We also get discounts on swim lessons and the like, and I took a driver safety course for free that lowered my car insurance by $20/month. We recently moved from KS to TX, so it has been an important source of friends for me,…
  • Body Pump, running, spinning, Pilates, and a little swimming.
  • When I was in my twenties, I lost about 65 lbs., and even when I was at goal, my skin continued to shrink and become more firm. I'd bet yours will as well. Just keep doing what you're doing. Great job so far!
  • I do, I do! I just had a sports massage and the guy actually complimented me on how defined and balanced my legs and entire body were. I have been doing it for about 18 months and have gone way up in weights (up to about 50 lbs. on squats). It really has sped up my metabolism too, having more muscle mass.
  • WOW! Great job! I don't normally look at progress photos but obviously I couldn't resist the title of yours.
  • Also keep in mind that your speed is going to be slower the more difficult the trail is--even a flat, smooth dirt trail is going to be slower than asphalt or concrete. Enjoy!
  • Can you find a friend to run with? Runners are very social and many are looking for running buddies, and after that first "date" with the right partner (nerve-wracking just like a romantic date), it can make a huge difference and make the time go by so much faster. Look online or at a running store for local…
  • Any use of the word sculpt/sculpted when not referring to some sort of artwork. Celery has negative calories. For realsies.
  • Running has made me more outgoing and confident since it's such a social sport (very helpful after moving from KS to TX 18 months ago), and amazed at what my body is capable of. Body Pump has transformed my body and made me stronger than I ever thought possible.
  • I wish the Moving Comfort came in cup sizes bigger than DDD/E. I wear an Elomi Energise with a Shock Absorber D+ on top and it works really well for running. I'm about 36F.
  • Nonstop (no walk breaks) I have run 5 or 6 miles. With walk breaks, 13.1 miles (half marathon at 3:2 run/walk intervals) and it took 3 hours. But I figure even running half a mile is better than what I could run a year ago, which was literally a block or less. Practice makes perfect!
  • Nice! I was so excited the other day because I tried on my 40F bras and they were too big in the back AND the cups. Yes! I still have to double-bag it, but getting a breast reduction is my primary motivation for weight loss!
  • Go to a running store and get their help--don't be shy. Your shoes are your most important investment in running. Keep doing this until you find ones you like, then buy them online more cheaply.
  • I'm not sure where people are getting that it's a cardio-type class, but you don't want to do BP more than 3x/week, and never on consecutive days (as with any strength training using the same muscle group, which in this case is all of them). I wouldn't call the weights people in our classes lift "light weights," either.…
  • Yes, back off on the running (this will also help you recover from the half--some shorter, slower runs to get blood flowing to repair muscle damage). I can't lose when I'm training for a HM--I'm too hungry and I need too many simple carbs (to avoid stomach issues) before the weekly long run, so I am less satisfied overall.…
  • Endomondo and Runkeeper both work well with a Garmin (at least one with an ANT+ stick).
