  • Hi, I'm 5'6", aiming to lose 40-50lbs. I started Jillian's 30 Day Shred and am on day 4 today, although I'm not feeling it right now!! I will have a go at it in about an hour though! Good luck on your 'journey'!
  • Hi! I'm 5'6" and my goal is 150-160, although it still feels soooooooo far away! I've got 8 months until my wedding and if I can get down to 175 ish by then I'll be happy, maybe 150 by Xmas? Who knows, I'm just gonna keep going and see what happens! :)
  • Do level 1 of the 30 day shred - mental cardio easy to do inside and it's free on youtube :)
  • maybe you're swapping weight for muscle, if the inches are coming off then it IS working, but if you've upped your exercise then you're probably toning up while losing
  • Seriously though, try and up your water intake whenever you can - it might even help when you say you feel starving too as quite often a good, large glass of water can fill you up. Sodium is a huge cause of water retention and therefore weight gain. Try the ten minute thing where you feel hungry so you have a drink, then…
  • Also, you might be swapping fat for muscle. Are you taking measurements of yourself regularly to see if there is a difference there, or do your clothes fit better?
  • your body might be going through withdrawal symptoms. For example, if someone drinks 4-5 (or more) cups of coffee with sugar every day and then just stops drinking it, their body will crave the caffeine and when it doesn't get it, it will go into withdrawal - intense headaches, nausea, etc. Go through your diary and note…
  • Also, I know this goes against what everyone else always says but why not go for a while trying NOT to eat back your exercise calories and see if that has any effect. You might just need to kick start your metabolism again
  • I can understand your frustration but don't let it get you down. I only looked through the last couple of days in your diary so this may not apply but it looks like you're taking in a whole load of sodium and your water count is really low at 3 glasses a day. Try drinking lots more water, more than twice what you're…
  • You shouldn't get hung up on what other people are losing, you'll drive yourself crazy!! Just remember that anything you lose, however small, is a brilliant achievement
  • Don't beat yourself up, if you find yourself around tempting foods you know you shouldn't be eating then just force yourself to have a little of it and not binge on loads. One slice of pizza and a couple of glasses of water would fill you up. Resisting is hard, really hard. Just keep trying!
  • Wow, well done! Thanks :)
  • No worries :) It seems like whenever I eat soup and fat free yogurts - which I would consider to be healthy, they are really high in sodium so I'm going to try and limit those. Also, sandwiches come up high in sodium too, I don't normally eat sandwiches but there were some provided at a work buffet today so I had a three…
  • Thanks, I don't actually mind stuff like Rivita, etc and am happy to eat it as long as it's making a difference. I just felt quite demotivated today and everyone at work was eating pastas and curries and biscuits while I was on rye bread! Haha!
  • Also, if you're doing lots of work outs and adding weights maybe your "weight" gain is muscle build?
  • Hi, I'm feeling the same at the moment. If people are telling you that you're losing weight, it's because you are so trust them!! People have suggested to me to make a change in my exercise or food intake to trick my body out of the plateau. I'm gonna give it a try and see what happens. Good luck!
  • Thanks everyone, I really appreciate all your comments. With regards to eating back exercise calories - is that where you input exercise and it says you've earned more calories? If so I do eat back some of them but never all of them, never even half of them usually - but mostly because I'm not hungry.
  • Kasya - thanks for that, I'll try some veggies over the fruit and see what that's like :) (I think I need to be a bit less scales obsessed and leave it longer between weighing in!! Patience eh?!!)
  • Hi, I often think the same so I give myself a few options - put them into MFP and see which ones still keep me from going over the allowances, then I make sure I only have that. E.G. If I put in some Rolos and it says I can eat 6 before spilling over on the calories, etc, then I make sure I only eat 5 or 6 and no more.…
  • Hi Gardenkat, thanks for all the advice - great stuff, really appreciated! I did wonder about the starvation mode thing, but I've been trying to stick to the MFP target of 1330 per day. I am quite good and staying below the recommended levels for carbs, fat and protein too. I've recently started taking in more calcium as…
  • Maximal - I am dieting for my wedding, that is my inspiration but I think I've done pretty well so far to NOT follow a starvation diet, I am not starving myself, I always eat when I'm hungry but now I reach for a piece of fruit or a drink of water instead of a handful of biscuits or some chocolate. I am making changes for…
  • That's really helpful, thanks :) I think I'll try upping my water intake as I was drinking lots but I've slipped on that lately as work has been busy and I haven't had a chance to stop. I might also switch to swimming for a bit and go back to the gym in a few weeks. Thanks, you've made me feel loads better :)
