  • Wow, that is early. People look at me funny when I say 5am. LOL
  • I find the same to be true. Now I (usually) have my workout clothes right by my bed and start getting dressed before my eyes are fully open. I love good habits.
  • Awesome, I'm glad it helped!
  • Thank you, I still have long way to go but these little NSVs make it easy to keep working!
  • depending on what you are juicing you may be able to find the same juices in the MFP database. I usually juice Apple Carrot and Beets... So I do the ABC juice from Robeks in the database. If I can't find a juice close enough from robeks, I'll look for other juice bars in the database or type in the individual juice (i.e.…
  • Yes, you are right, and If I was sure it was an injury I would be on my way to the doctor now. This was mild pain (at least not excruciating) and I was able to finish my workout. I also feel fine now. I'll give new shoes a try and if it comes back then I'll go see her right away. And like you I also try not to run on…
  • First, I hope this heals quickly for you. If it occurs on my next run (after new shoes) then I'll go see a doctor. I have abnormally strong legs for someone who doesn't do any leg workouts (must be all the extra weight i've been carrying). I have been doing bodyweight squats to help with endurance and to prevent muscle…
  • Great advice! I'll make sure to give yoga a try. I was looking into it anyway because I want to make sure I maintain muscle since I'm losing and doing all cardio up to this point but I hadn't heard about yoga for runners. Thanks!
  • Just this time. 6 min run intervals are longest I've done thus far and since my runs after are only increasing time in run intervals and decreasing walking time it could be because I haven't been "running" for long periods of time.
  • Good to know. I don't do any hip stretches. I'll also note that the Brooks I have were fitted at a running store after observing me run. But I definitely think it is time for a new pair. I easily have over 300 miles on these and probably over 600.
  • So then, as a follow-up... I can change my shoes and keep going, or should I take a little time off? Since I feel fine now I assume it isn't an actual injury. But you know what they say about assuming...
  • Good point. I am wearing Brooks that I got last year and didn't do much running but walked plenty. I should probably get a new pair.
  • I don't think there will ever be a "right" answer for this. There is a lot of opinion though. Depending on how much you have to lose, you may not need to worry about "starvation" mode. That only occurs when bodyfat % get really low. (There are lots of studies but i'm too lazy to link them). Think of it like this... those…
  • So, it seems therer aren't many New Bernians on MFP. I'm from New Bern but live in the DC area now. I just started running but when I progress a little more I'll message you and see if you want to go for a run.
  • There is no one right answer here. Everyone does what is best for them. I personally prefer to do cardio in the morning before I eat. Most recommend if you are going to eat before cardio, to do it at least an hour before and most don't have that kind of time available in the morning. I'll also mention it depends on what…
  • I'm doing a program similar to C25K. I honestly think you should do one program all the way through. Really dedicate yourself do doing one and then do the another. 3 different programs at once seems a little over zealous. Be patient complete a program. I use to do so many things at once because I would....overwhelm....…
  • Wow, lots of good info here. Thanks for the help!
  • Thanks! I'll give that one a try!
  • But if my TDEE is about 20% above my BMR, then eating below my BMR is still below my TDEE. And if I need to eat more than what MFP is saying then I want to know now rather than do myself harm.
  • Ahaha, you will not be forgotten!
  • I'm in two pools and bought a couple just for me. I'd start a business of some kind, I have a few ideas. I'd also set up a trust to help my parents out with health insurance. Pay off all debt (which isn't much) stash away half of whats left for investing/college funds etc, and buy a Maserati!
  • From New Bern, went to NCSU and own a house in Raleigh, but live in DC Metro now. Will move back soon (most likely to Charlotte)
  • I'm always feeling lucky! I'm in two... 30 people in one and 6 in the other. 270 tickets total between the two pools. Keeping em crossed!
  • Yep, Reston
  • What do you think metabolism is? It is your body maintaining and adapting to changes including muscle repair. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Metabolism
  • What they meant is that muscle mass increases your metabolism. So you are burning more calories at rest then you would if you were to only do cardio. Others know much more than me but I didn't want to leave you hanging. The point is that having lean muscle mass is important. Try to have a healthy mix of cardio and…
  • I completely agree, but I find that the numbers gives me something to shoot for. Little goals that help me improve until this is part of my life. I am, unfortunately, rather large and some things are more of an effort than they should be and it can get discouraging. So some of these numbers help me to realize that I am…
  • Oh, I'll enjoy an adult beverage or few this evening!
  • You're on this thread a lot
