  • Well, I'm actually kind of glad to know it isn't just me, because this has been a pain. I assume they don't have an estimated time frame for fixing it?
  • Yeah, I don't think that IF really has much to do with it (except when I had to talk to a doc about a mid-day med and how it needs to be taken with food. He had no problem with me moving it to the night box). Good thought on the meds, though. Some are one-size-fits -all due to being pre-packaged injections, and I get labs…
  • Saw this, and am grateful. Part of me thinks that not being able to keep it in the 5lb range is a huge issue, but with the meds and the lack of sleep, I have been willing to shoot for a loss back to where I wanted to be and then a 10lb flux. Not enough (for me) to screw up my clothes fitting (128-138 still means my stuff…
  • Thank you for the response. :) The activity is sustainable, mostly, as I walk a lot during my job and have found out how I can get more steps in even when the weather is terrible (there's a treadmill on my porch, now, and that does a lot when it's too wet or cold to walk to the store or to the park). I'm generally okay on…
  • I don't like to make my diary public, but I am scanning and weighing food out, and I can't figure that would be the cause of the issue. I've tried logging exercise by speed/time or by the info from Fitbit, and it seems to be pretty close to the same impact. My upper boundary was 10 lbs or when I noticed that the clothes…
  • Totally. I've started a different trick with the calories, but it just feels harder, almost, than when I'm really trying to lose weight. I'm trying to stay at the lower end of that range, and when I noticed my jeans were a little less comfy, I realized I'd gained and started trying to figure this out to see if I was…
  • Thanks! Yes, I do a 18/6 IF right now, with the exception of coffee in the morning and about 100 calories at 1:30 (because I have a med I need to take with food. As to the range of a few lbs, I think that's totally right...and I expected that. It's just creeping up, steadily, and I can't seem to keep it at the lower end of…
  • Thanks. Yeah, the days of feeling awful, and then being super hungry two days later...no es bueno. I've been cutting up fruit (nectarines, mostly) and bacon, and carrying them around with me in Tupperware. Not the BEST option I can think of, but between that and the protein shakes, I think I'm doing alright. I just feel…
  • I'm walking, but not really working out, yet. I just feel SO tired most of the time. Good to know there's a light somewhere at the end of this tunnel, though. :)
  • So, fun piece of trivia: with an extender, the fitbit can be worn on an ankle! Useful tip from a Deaf fitness buddy. Voila, no issues with it tracking incorrectly, and now it does the useful step-thing as well as tells me when I'm having an anxiety episode. Win! Thanks, folks.
  • No worries, friend. I get a little freaked out in the big forums, since they can be a tad intimidating ("You need to lift!" "Find time to focus on you" and the like). Today I'm focusing on breathing, and trying to figure out how to calorie count around throwing up from chemo, so I'm too far removed from their world.

  • DO feel free to come join the group if you'd like. My mom is in the same oat as you: needs knee replacements after an old injury, no surgery until she loses weight, but hard to lose when she can't walk, so the cycle stays moving. As to slow progress, I'm with you (a lot of soup, greens, bacon, kimchi...trying to stay "not…
  • Thanks. I'm walking more, but it's an uphill battle (like you mentioned), through both the AS and the ensuing medications and therapies (I just started methotrexate a little over a month ago, and it has made me both exhausted and bald) but slow and steady and all that, right?
  • I agree with you that the math is easier when it's just a diet-based loss. It's also hard when I just can't move, because then I feel weak, and I've never really felt that before, so I'm uncomfortable with it.

  • I actually did basically what you suggested here. Gained about 3 lbs, but still managed to make it to the event and fit in the outfit, and am now able to move a little better (altho chemo makes every movement harder)

  • Gained a little, but made he day work. One wrist has healed completely NOW after 18 months.

  • Me, too?
  • Hey, I'm Carissa. I'm HOH, but slowly losing the rest of my hearing. Grew up using SEE, and now my family uses ASL (I became an interpreter years ago because my son needed the language). May I join you?
  • We have a group called "Disabled MFP-ers With Attitude" where we all have that kind of issue (one way or another). Mine is working up from the 5000 to 7500 step goal, but with my AS, it can be quite a pain in the, well, everywhere. Come join us if you'd like.
  • Same. Back in 2012, I lost a little over 60lbs, and then gained back about 30 after an accident. It can be frustrating, but... Any you want to exchange NonScale accomplishments on a weekly basis? Steps or water or days under goal? Accountability works for.writing, so maybe for this, too.
  • I'm a teacher of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing, as well as an ASL interpreter. I also teach/tutor English/Language Arts and Social Studies for middle and high school kids.
  • I just found this, but I'd love to join you. I've been a part of MFP for years, popping on and off as I've been well enough, but I'm excited that I finally have useful meds, functional weather, and am doing alright on the food and school departments (I teach and am in grad school). My big "event" is in May, not June, but…
  • I'm not a huge water drinker, either, in part because my job doesn't allow me to run to the bathroom often (I teach in a program that requires students not to be left alone, ever). I know it isn't great for my kidneys to be as dried out as I am, but given the bathroom situation and the fact that my hands also swell, I do…
  • Mostly what he said. I found that I'm not hungry if I prep my meals and know what I'll be eating and when. If I'm on the fly for whatever reason, I'm SCREWED. I also make sure, when I'm logging, to log EVERYTHING. If I don't log every bite, it doesn't work how I'd like it to, and then I get frustrated. For example,…
  • Rx level involves velcro and straps and (sometimes) buckles. I tore my abdomen and had it repaired and had to wear one while it healed, and it was like wearing a corset. Ugh.
  • I had this happen after a 60 pound loss (and after a surgery)...but I don't know if you're looking for actual medical compression garments or just something like "shapewear" to wear under your exercise outfit. I couldn't move in the RX compression belts and and the like, but I ended up just putting on a Maidenform all-over…
  • I haven't been able to find them. I knew there must be one, but...
  • Oh yeah, it has no idea what to do with my hand movements. Like, none. I can open the Fitbit app on my phone and tell it I think it is stupid and it will add five steps. ::sigh:: Still, it doesn't seem to add calories when I "walk" without walking if my HR doesn't go up? Or am I misunderstanding the little blinky watch?
