Welcome. There are lots of great resources to help you on your way. Check out the stickies (most helpful posts) at the top of the forum boards. Great, to-the-point info to help you cut through the BS and avoid many of the pitfalls people make when they first start out. Helped me a lot when I first logged on to MFP. Here…

The Fast 800 is not a good plan. It promotes consuming 800 calories a day, which is obviously significantly less than the bare minimum of 1200 calories/day for sedentary women. It is very difficult to get enough nutrients like calcium, protein, and magnesium on a calorie level less than 1200. Other problems often include…

I'm assuming your surgery requires you to lose some weight before November? If so, definitely take a look at the tips below. There are many different types of diets out there, but they all work because of one thing - a calorie deficit. Some people eat a diet consisting of lower carbs and higher fat (like the poster above)…

Unfortunately I believe you have to do a manual search (type into search bar instead of scanning) and check out the results to select the one you want. MFP has a lot of features they should add IMO, but it's still a fantastic app!

Welcome! Here's a not-so-brief list to get you started. * Read the stickies (most helpful posts) at the top of the forums (really helped me hone in on what I was supposed to be doing, and realize how hard I was initially making it for myself):…

Second this, because it's definitely where you should start.

Accepting this was a forever thing. It's just the way it has to be for me to be successful. I can't be trusted not to log... my track record has proved that! Death, taxes, and logging.

You don't want to restrict your diet a great deal, because that can lead to burnouts and binges. Overly restricting yourself has the potential to make you miserable and, therefore, more likely to abandon your progress after a while (I'm speaking from experience). Losing weight comes down to a calorie deficit, regardless of…

Many things. Countless things! Salty foods, before/during/after TOM, flying in an airplane, working out, medications, etc. Different things for different people, too.

As others have said, enjoy your vacation. Your setbacks will be minor in the grand scheme of things. Mike is right about waiting to weigh yourself for several days after you return. Let the water weight drop off before you reassess. I bet you'll be pleasantly surprised at how little you gained.

That's jacked! I'd reach out to the company directly if I were you. Is that recall worthy?

I've seen this one many times and I think it deserves a caveat. Like, meth works for me so, does that mean it's the right plan? I mean, sure, if I'm okay with the horrific side effects up to and including death! Also, there are some things that work for everyone. I just think this particular quote should include an…

I think you mean your TDEE? Your total daily energy expenditure (TDEE) is the total number of calories you burn each day based on your activity level. You can actually use MFP to determine your TDEE by doing the guided setup, but selecting "maintain current weight" rather than any of the weight loss/gain options. To lose…

Welcome! Here's a great article to get you started :) https://community.myfitnesspal.com/en/discussion/1080242/a-guide-to-get-you-started-on-your-path-to-sexypants/p1 You can definitely do it! Good luck!

Sounds like you might be eating more than you think. Read this: http://physiqonomics.com/eating-too-much/ It's very "direct," but extremely helpful to determine if you're underestimating your intake. As @tinkerbellang83 said, your workouts could be causing your body to retain water. Your muscles retain water during the…

Also a Floridian, and I have to say, Universal is amazing. The attention to detail is breathtaking. Plus, The Wizarding World of Harry Potter... nuff said.

I'm not always successful in staving off the comfort food cravings when things get tough emotionally, but what has worked for me is considering how I feel at that moment (awful) and how I would feel after I binge-ate comfort foods and went wayyyy over my calorie limit (significantly worse). I don't like feeling crappy, so…

Love me some sauna time. Very relaxing. Doesn't do anything for weight loss, though.

If she doesn't want to stop snacking, she doesn't have to. Several posters have suggested alternatives to "just stop." Lots of people lose weight effectively while including snacks in their daily allowance. ETA: I am one of those people, btw. ;)

I'm literally sitting on my *kitten* waiting for my groceries to be delivered. Then I'll eat some turkey meatballs. Pinnacle of laziness.
