  • My team is a new team. Last year was the first year we played anyone. We aren't a WFTDA league yet, although we are trying to find a team to apprentice with. We also don't have a whle lot of members, so we weren't strict with the rules. This year we are bigger and have better skaters. So this year it will really matter if…
  • A week of Insanity and still going strong. I lost 7 pounds last week so I'm happy about that. Anyone else out there doing anything?
  • So I'm thinking about doing INSANITY. I'm thinking that if I do that it will be perfect for off skates training. It uses plyometrics, you build endurance, build strenght. Has anyone here tried it? Any ideas?
  • I know how hard it is to build your confindence back up. I had a really bad sprain, not even a break and it's taken me months to get back what I lost and I'm still about half afraid to do jumps. I'm comfortable with everything now but the jumps, I don't know if I'll ever get comfortable with those. Good luck. Dont' focus…
  • Yay! Good for you. I so need to get motivated. I'm going to start couch to 5k this week. I need to improve my time for the 25 in 5 and I haven't tried it in forever, but I know it won't be too pretty. We are on the off season right now, I'm hoping that by the time our whole team is back, I'll be back to normal again! Great…

  • Three seconds is nothing (and everything!). You can do that I'm sure. That's awsome. Good luck
  • Thanks for the input. We are having a lot of drama in the team right now, and that's one of the things this girl keeps going back to, so I just wanted to see what the rest of the world was like!
  • I had wondered if wearing high heels would help. I think it's a good idea.
  • I've had my trikke about four years, but haven't had it out for about two. I just got it out this past weekend and have been trikking every day. Don't know if it'll help me lose weight yet, but I can feel the burn! I think it's a good workout, as it works your whole body.
  • I'm not to good at it either. We start out by practicing walking back and forth across the rink on our toes, then when we get it mastered, we practice taking the first few steps running. But, I can't do it very well either. We practice toe starts and duck walk starts too, which I find to be a bit easier (although you might…
  • Congratulations and good luck! I love it and hope you will too.
  • Awesome advice! Thanks!
  • I like the idea. Sounds great. I'll email you.
  • Looking awesome! Way to go!
  • Excellent post. I need to start strength training. I practice at practice 3 days a week, and try to skate outside on the days I'm off work, but I don't ever go to the gym! I think that's going to be my goal, hell, there's a gym where I work, I could do it on my lunch break! It's just getting motivated I guess. Plus, if I…
  • Welcome ladies. Sounds like we are from all over. My team is a new team. We are an apprentice league this year, but next year we'll be official. I've been skating just about a year. I said it in another post, but my derby name is Hellblazer.
  • I'm actually lucky as we are a new team. Our league was an apprenticeship league this year. There are a few girls that started before me, but not very many. There are probably about 25 of us all together and we are all at different skill levels. None of us have taken the official skills test yet, but we've all done it with…
  • C25K is a great idea. I did it back in the spring because I did a Warrior Dash in June. I have to admit, I only did it enough to get through the warrior dash (which just about killed me!), and have been thinking about taking up running again. Our team does a group drill where we try to do 40 laps in ten minutes as a group;…
  • Awesome job! What an inspiration for all of us! You look fantastic. :flowerforyou:
  • Size doesn't matter. I started with a fairly new team, but my first practice, several of the girls had been skating for about 6 months or so. I hadn't been on skates for years, and I weighed about 265. I was horribly out of shape and couldn't even make it through one practice. I thought I was going to die! I was sore for…
  • Hi my name is Heather, or Hellblazer #23. I'm from southern Ohio, my team is the Appalachian Hell Betties, out of Athen's Ohio. We are a new team. I've been doing derby about a year. When I started I was in horrible shape. A year later, I've lost 50 pounds just from the activity, but I have a long way to go, so I thought…
