I lost my 19 year old cousin to a brutal murder in 2007. A month later, I saw my first derby game and was instantly in love with the sport. Losing my baby girl (cousins in my family are raised more like siblings than cousins) really showed me that life can be unfairly short and that I shouldn't be afraid to take chances.…

Pure Romance came out with a product line inspired by 50 Shades of Grey. Ask your favorite consultant about it or you can go to my website to check it out: www.archangelajames.pureromance.com when you get to the shopping page, click The Grey Revolution on the far left side.

Welcome! I'm so glad that this group is starting to get people! lgwmab- I haven't read it yet, but I've heard so much about it, I think I need to get a copy. I take it it's a good book? ;)

I love derbysupply.net. They're incredibly knowledgeable and easy to work with. I swear there's nothing involving derby gear they can't figure out. I also love that it's more important to them to make sure they're getting you the right equipment for you and how you skate versus the equipment that will make them the most…

Try putting out your arms like an airplane and leaning & turning your body in the direction you want to go around the corners. I've been doing derby for 4 years and I still do that for crossovers when we're skating counter-skatewise. I swear my left leg just refuses to cooperate when going that direction.

Thank you so much! I must have missed it.

Having tried SparkPeople, too, I have to say I prefer this one. It's got good information, ease of use & I don't feel it's trying to sell me something around every turn. Welcome to the group!

I put my name on the list, but I don't know how to do the nifty blue hyperlink thing for my name. Help?

What is it with them? My hubby is a medic and is all about going airborne even though it's not necessary at all. :)

New roller derby gear. I'll need new, smaller pads for my new smaller body. :) Maybe even new, leather boot, Reidell skates. I've had the same skates for most of my derby career.

A friend of mine in roller derby with me turned me on to club soda & flavored vodka, such as 3 Olives Cherry. It's yummy and doesn't kill your diet.

Those ladies are awesome! I miss them!

Once a week, but it's not truly a cheat. I have roller derby practice once a week and, with all the calories I burn (especially if it's an intense practice), I basically need to eat more to make up for some of them. Basically, that's when I earn an indulge-day.

I used to skate with Burn City Rollers, while I was living at Fort Benning! I heard there was a league started in Columbus right around the time I left. I hope you girls do wonderfully!
