  • Correct, but you dont have to want to gain muscle to lift weights. I'm in a deficit and lifting weights, making sure I get my protein goals in. I'm losing weight, but my body looks better because I am not burning the muscle as much during my cardio workouts. It is never too early to start lifting.
  • 7,000 is a lot .... and not really necessary. I eat at like a 3,000 a week deficit and I've lost almost 15lbs in 3 months. Which may seem like a small amount to you, but it's healthy, it's consistent, and it's going to make it so I can keep going in the long-term. Be honest with yourself. Do you want to lose weight fast…
  • Weight fluctuates. I always tell people not to weigh themselves every day. I only weigh every 2 weeks, when I wake up, after I go to the bathroom, naked. It is consistent.
  • Do you currently work out? Definitely start some weight lifting! You aren't sedentary unless you literally sit all day and don't do anything. I have a desk job, but I work out 5 days a week. So I eat inbetween my lightly active and moderately active calorie goal.
  • Insanity was the first thing I did once I decided to stop being lazy and workout again. It kicked my *kitten*. I was so out of shape, but I stuck with it and did what I personally could do. I didn't notice a whole lot of weight come off, but I know it was the kickstart I needed. It's a good workout so I definitely think…
  • Why don't you lift weights?
  • Well that might be your problem. You are eating a below healthy amount of calories a day.
  • Go out to dinner. .. Look up nutrional information before you go. If they don't have them, just be smart and make better choices. Side salad over french fries. Etc. If you don't go out to eat very often, then you can just straight up treat yourself one day. Going over your calorie limit one day is not going to ruin your…
  • Have you head of eating disorders? Well there is a disorder for constantly wanting to burn more calories than you eat... Not sure of what they actually call it. I would speak to a fitness expert or a psychologist. MFP has you at a deficit...it isn't necessary to burn 1,000 calories a day. You are going to exhaust yourself.
  • It sounds like you are the lucky owner of a Virus!! Yayyy!! If you have an anti-virus program on your database I would run it. If it doesn't find something the first time, try a few more times. Otherwise you might have bigger fish to fry and if you don't know computers, I would definitely take it to someone who does.
  • Would it put you over for yesterday? Then make it for today.
  • For me...I cheat every day so I don't really have cheat days. I eat what I want in my calorie goals. A real cheat day for me is when I am out of town or at a party/event in which I choose not to track at all. I still think I make decent decisions because for me this is a lifestyle change not a diet.
  • Stick with neting about 1400 calories. 2 weeks isnt a long time to not lose especially when you just lost a good chunk. Patience is a virtue. Start taking measurements, you may be losing inches in the process. Or you could just lose 2 lbs next week. Weight is crazy.
  • I'm about the same size as you, about 5 lbs lighter. It's been a slow process the last 10 lbs. You just have to keep plugging away. Try lifting weights. You will get a better looking body which matters more than the scale! best of luck! feel free to add me :)
  • Then why start eating raw right away? I would try to ease into it if that is something you want to do. I don't eat raw so I don't see how people can do it anyways. You don't want to just sacrifice everything you like...it's not going to be sustainable in the long run.
  • Your body needs fuel. For long term success you want to eat 1200 net. Once and a while you are at 1100 ... oh well. But definitely dont make it a habit. I eat 1700 calories a day and I'm losing.
  • I have a desk job too. So my only real activity is my workouts. Like I said I eat 1696 a day. I've lost almost 15 lbs in a little over 3 months. I'm also not trying to lose a lot so it comes off slower than it might if you have more to lose.
  • A lot of people have already made great suggestions. Cauliflower to me is a miracle veggie. Try cauliflower mashed. It is a great "mashed potato" mock.
  • Most of it is in your head. You just need an oral fixation and if you aren't smoking, you are eating. Try chewing gum. Sugarfree-0 calorie gum. Congrats on quitting. I have not yet tackled this...
  • I totally get not having all the resources to get better foods. But you know what, you can lose weight eating anything. As long as you are in a deficit. Make the better options when they are available. Any and all exercise is good exercise.
  • Seems about right. Go inbetween lightly and moderate. That's what I did. Do 1850 for 3-4 weeks and see how it goes. The best way to calculate an accurate TDEE is to trial and error with your body. I'm 5'5 136lbs and eat 1696 a day. I'd say you are moderately active, but I know how it feels to not want to eat that much and…
  • How much weight have you "gained" ? It's hard to gain fat that quickly. So I assume if you have put on 5lbs in a couple of weeks, it is probably water weight. I would stick with it and see where you are at in 2 weeks. The only way you can gain fat is by eating over your maintenance calories.
  • Be cautious about salad dressings if choosing them. & most fast food places have nutrition menus so look it up beforehand. If you can't find the nutritional information, then go with your gut. Obviously a value fry will be better than a large. Grilled chicken over fried. Etc. It's a vacation so you might not want to care…
  • When you start a new or more intense workout plan water weight definitely can pack on... Do you weigh your foods? It's not muscle...it's extremely hard to gain muscle while eating at a deficit.
  • A lot of weight in the first 3 months of pregnancy are water, fluids, etc. As far as cravings go, try to eat the best option possible when you crave. Instead of mashed potatoes, get a sweet potato. You need to gain weight for a healthy baby so don't be afraid of the LBS just make sure you get a balanced nutrition so that…
  • I'm going to assume you don't normall eat 1000 calories a day since you said you had to force yourself to eat. But yes you need to be fueling your body. ESPECIALLY if you are lifting weights! Do you think you are eating enough most days?
  • Even when you get to your goal weight, I bet you will find flaws about your body. Being a woman sucks. When I feel that way about how I look now, I just pull a picture of me 50 lbs heavier.
  • My 2 cents: If you want to eat under 1200 calories and lose weight. Go for it. Don't come back on the message boards in 2 months crying when you have gained all your weight back from binge eating or just actually eating.
