  • I have to give myself monthlyB12 shots, have for about a year now. It may have helped my weight loss but I figure it was minimal! I do the shots for dificiency aslo so that may be the reason it hasn't accelerated my weight loss!
  • Hey everyone! Aaaahhhh! Just completed Turbo Fire 55 and I don't care what they say - it isn't easy! I have Fit Club tonight so I'll be doing Insanity Cardio Power and Resistance then! I'm sure hoping these twice a day workouts will bust this plateau soon! Terri
  • Hello everyone! Today was a ChaLEAN Extreme day - I did Burn Circuit 1 and increased my weights a bit. My arms are feeling like jello right now. Tonight I have Zumba for my cardio - I don't want to give up Zumba since I only have it twice a week. Last week I didn't do my 2 a day workouts like I had planned, too many other…
  • Is it too late to join? I've been a Turbo fan for a year now and love the workouts. I'm currently doing a hybrid of Turbo Fire and ChaLEAN Extreme with some Insanity and Zumba thrown in to mix things up. I really need a support group for this as I am doing 2 a day workouts at least 4 days each week. Some days I just want…
  • First of all - as a Mom I'm so PROUD of you for making a hard decision and taking action! I think it's great that your Mom is going to drive for you - that should help! A few things that you might want to try - can you read while traveling? I get motion sickness so I can't but a friend of mine who struggles with anixiety…
  • Normally Protein and Fiber are the things you want to focus on in any weight loss plan so I think you're probably doing good! As long as you aren't going over the recommended calories you should lose. I used to always go over on those but I adjusted my plan to accomodate more protein and fiber. Keep going on what you're…
  • My coach told me the rule of thumb is if the symptoms are above the shoulders go ahead and work out. If the symptoms are below the shoulders take a rest day. Of course if you are running a fever stay in bed! Be sure and get plenty of water!
  • I have also struggled with depression and in the past I have had some anxiety issues, although the anxiety was situational. When I've had bad days I try to keep a time line of the day when possible because I had a hard time remembering what I did, ate, if I took my meds etc. I'm sure your therapist has already given you…
  • Welcoe to MFP! This is such a great resource for weight loss, fitness and a healthy lifestyle! Enjoy the tranformation! Feel free to add me! Terri
  • There are a lot of great DVD workout series on beachbodies.com but when I don't really feel like working out I pop in Shaun T's HipHop Abs. I enjoy the 45 minute cardio portion - it's just fun and I burn a ton of calories! Turbo Jam is also a great workout DVD and so much fun! Feel free to add me! Terri
  • I've been doing Turbo Fire for over a year now and I almost never do the HIIT classes! I started with Turbo Jam and then discovered Turbo Fire. I do the Fire 45 class and Fire 55 EZ class the most. I got a Heart Rate Monitior and checked my calorie burn and with the Turbo 55EZ I burn about 900 calories. I also take a Turbo…
  • I also read that story! While I think what he is doing is pretty extreme, I completely admire his attempt to understand the struggles of people who have lived with obesity and food addiction. I will be watching his journey now from overweight to fit again with much interest! If you haven't checked out his website it is:…
  • Hi Lisa! Welcome! So glad to have you on this journey to health! You have a great idea in breaking down your weight loss into smaller goals! I really like that! I am also a SAHM, with 5 kids, but only 4 are still living at home, most of them are college age but I also have a (surprize!) 9 year old! Feel free to add me to…

  • Protein shakes are a great way to get in the protein required and are usually low in calories and fat. However, I would suggest you use a good whey protein rather than soy protein. Soy has been shown to increase phytoestrogens that can precurse breast cancer. I have a protein shake every day, I use Unjury protein as I…
  • Fat free yogurt, especially the greek style yogurts are especially good for getting in the protein. Just make sure there isn't added sugar. I like to eat a lot of boneless, skinless chicken breasts and have many ways to cook them! I have a big family and for dinners they eat what I eat. Lots of veggies and fresh fruit. But…
  • You could lose weight but it would be safe to assume that you would be losing more muscle with the fat, which will lower your metabolism in the long run. Try treating your body like an athlete. If you are going to spend the time exercising and getting fit why not feed it healthy as well??? I drive an older Ford pick-up…
  • I've lost 80 pounds total, 25 since discovering MFP. I have another 70 or so to go. I've never been at a "normal" weight, so I don't know exactly what my final goal weight is, I figure as I get closer I can make a better decision. Just know that you are heading toward your goal and don't give up. I have had many plateaus…
  • I'm in! I could use a good challenge to keep me going! Terri
  • With your history I would definitely schedule that appointment as soon as possible. When it is something that concerns your heart I say it's better to err on the side of caution. I would hope they would have you do a stress test so they can get an accurate picture of what your heart is doing while you are working out.
  • Welcome to MFP! There is a lot of learn on this site! I've just recently returned after a brief time to recover from a knee injury and am now working on re-losing the weight I gained during that time so I'm back on track! Feel free to add me! Ask questions when you have them - there are a lot of people on this site who…
  • I take a daily multiple from Opurity and a chewable Calcium also by Opurity. I also take iron, Magnesium, Vit C, Fish oil, D3 and a sub-lingual B12. It seems like a lot but because I had gastric bypass years ago my stomach doesn't digest so well and I don't get all the nutrition from the foods I eat. With these vitamins I…
  • My first HRM was a Polar FT4 and I liked it a lot. It is very accurate in tracking heart rate, calories burned and time exercised. The chest strap model is definetly the way to go if you chose a Polar. However, I decided that the Polar did not track what I wanted, which was my continuous calorie burn. I wanted something I…
  • Excellent weight loss! I do Cardio 6 days a week, and strength training 3-4 times a week. I always take 1 day where I don't do either, not that I'm sedentary on those days but I don't focus on it, I may walk to my daughter's school to pick her up in the afternoon, or go for a stroll with my hubby after dinner. Washing my…
  • Hi! I'm fairly new here too. I am a bit older older, 51, and mother of 5. I've never been a small person but in high school and college I was fit and curvy. I always thought I was fat because I was bigger than my friends but in looking back at pictures I can see that I had a terrible perception of myself. While I was…
