I joined and learnt loads from his academy. Two weeks in and today I'm back in a pair of trousers that I couldn't do up previously. You can just sign up and leave if you don't want to stay long term. There is plenty of good no nonsense nutrition advice in there. He'll even give you your money back if you decide it's not…

They put total sugar content on UK food labels but they don't tell you how much of it is added sugar.

I agree. Excess body fat can also mess with insulin secretion. It's a double edged sword. Over consumption of sugar will contribute heavily to both scenarios. If your level of consumption is under control then fine, no it won't cause type 2 diabetes on it's own. Sadly for some people that's not the case. Type 2 diabetes…

There's nothing wrong with eating fruit. It contains vitamins and fibre. Sugary drinks are one of the worst things you can consume. Liquid sugar and empty calories with no nutritional value at all. Of course sugar causes diabetes. If you consume too much sugar over a long period of time your pancreas gets worn out trying…

I know of someone who lost a load of weight on that plan, unfortunately she also lost large clumps of hair and then put all the weight back on when she stopped using it. I wouldn't use it if they paid me.

Not logging 100%. Derailing myself at the weekends. Not being honest with myself. Making it more complicated than it needs to be. Not consistently sticking to any plan. Being lazy all winter. The result of all that has been gaining weight steadily. Had to give myself a hard talking to 4 weeks ago.

Me too!!

I don't but my 19 yr old daughter does "I'm here for a good time, not a long time"!! God help us.

Joe Wickes is essentially a carb cycling plan (not low carb). The recipes in the books are based on the requirements for the average male and need tweaking for individual energy requirements. Slimming World allows you to eat almost anything within it's guidelines and syn allowances. The more recent version of the SW diet…

I fully joined. I started, got ill and restarted on Sunday 8th Jan. So now I am 3 days in on the Diet Makeover and have woken up with another cold today! I'm not going for another restart so I'm sticking with it and doing a workout tonight. Feeling determined!

I started yesterday. First day on the 2 week diet makeover went really well. Went to bed at 9.30pm to avoid snacking temptations!

Try squeezing your shoulder blades together to form a better pad for the bar to sit on. Don't have the bar too high. Is there a coach to check your form?

Parents naturally worry when their offspring do things that are outside of their own comfort zone. At least you are living a healthy life and I'm sure they would worry a whole lot more if you were living a toxic life of drink and drugs. They should be thankful that you're healthy lifestyle is setting a good example to…

The weight loss journey is only a roller coaster when we allow it to be. It's so easy to slip back into the old bad habits and sometimes life, work and social events get in the way of our goals. Good on you for getting back on the horse but try to keep your goals realistic so you don't set yourself up for failure and the…

I have been in maintenance for the last 2 years. I have a goal of 8 to 10 lbs loss by end of September so I'm in for the ride. I want to do this for two reasons. Firstly because crossfit gymnastic work will be easier if I'm a bit leaner and secondly because I am going on holiday on Sept 28th.

Are you just looking to carb cycle around your workout days? So low carb on rest days and then have carbs before and after training>

We are all different and have to find what works for each of us individually. If I had to put a label on my eating habits I guess it would be low carb. I eat plenty of protein and healthy fats and almost all of my carbs come from veggies. I feel great, have plenty of energy for workouts and am losing weight at a…

I started crossfit after a shoulder dislocation. The coaches scaled exercises for me so I could still do the WODs and encouraged me to do lots of rehab (band and light dumbbell work) exercises to strengthen my injured shoulder. You will definitely see changes over time. I've been crossfitting for 7 months and my butt has…

If you like constantly varied intense workouts, making friends and being part of a fitness community you will love it. The first few months you will ache...a lot. You'll get strong. You'll do a lot of burpees. There are a lot of crossfit haters out there....you'll need to learn to ignore them! Go for it!!

Which fitbit are you using? What are your stats? To give some insight I will use myself as an example: I am 43 years old, 163cm and weigh 151lbs. On a rest day with just basic activity I burn around 1650. A 3 mile run gives me 327 calories. On Saturday my TDEE was 2326 calories. I did a 90 minute (very intense) crossfit…
