  • Use the body media for the calories out count, MFP for calories in. I strongly encourage you to NOT use the bodymedia alerts when it comes to food.
  • Just got mine today.. I will let you know how it goes!
  • My diary is closed at this point. Why? Because for me, for now, I'm not looking for input into what or how much I'm eating or what I should be or not be eating. This program is working for me. I'm seeing the results I would expect in the time period I anticipated. Even when I've had plateaus, I have just kept on going. So…
  • Actually one of my favorites is extra lean turkey tenderloin and use green salsa with it. I then in a separate skillet take just a DROP of olive oil and sautee onions and peppers with garlic pepper. Shred the turkey and serve in whole wheat tortillas with the peppers and onions!
  • On my 40th birthday, I went to the eye doctor. She actually apologized when she told me I was going to need bifocals and I told her it was my birthday. She relented and said I'd need them next time I came in. I'm 43 now. I haven't been back. :)
  • Goblin, you are an abundance of class, style, and humor. My days are always better when you blog.
  • I've been on MFP for over 95 days (MFP tells you every 5 days or I'd have no clue) and would love to help. Feel free to send friend requests but be warned.. I don't take myself or anything else too seriously and I love to laugh (check out my blog if you're looking for my "style")... ;)
  • Well today I celebrated my 90 day. I've lost 12 lbs and couldn't be happier. Do feel free to add me!
  • I hit stop as soon as I'm done exercising. I'd rather underestimate the burn!
  • Costco has the New Balance N4 for about $39 and I love it. It DOES have a chest strap. The only thing I would say is that the font on the watch is a little small.. fortunately I have a 13 year old that was able to program it for me!
  • I'm a happy caffeinated person who embraces her addiction. I use splenda (yeah I know some folks think it's poison but I really haven't seen any ill effects and I've been using it for years). And I use nonfat milk so I get a smidge of calcium. :)
  • That is OUTSTANDING... we want pictures of those jump kicks! ;)
  • I got the N4 and I love it. I had to have my 13 year old set up the basics for me (I really need to get my eyes checked one of these days) but now I just use it to record calories burned and it's great.
  • I have one and I love it. I can't tell you how to set or change the input of information (I had my 13 year old figure that out for me) but I can tell you I just record after each workout. I'm not "saving" information in there. And if you think you're seeing artificially inflated calories, maybe set the exercise level to…
  • In my opinion, you have a much better chance of effecting change if you bring it through the school which then needs to make and implement a plan to manage this kid. It's not YOUR daughter's problem, it's this kid's. If you approach the parents directly, they are likely to be a) defensive or b) in denial about their kid.…
  • Log it or leave it. I find that just having to be accountable maeks me less likely to "fall off". And if you stick with "if you bite it you write it", that wagon will be much easier to get back on.
  • It's not just friends... there can be family members, extended family, and coworkers who do what they can to diminish your accomplishments because in doing so they feel like their negativity is the "normal". You cannot change them. You can't change your family or coworkers... but you can rise above. You don't have to give…
  • You start humming "Fruit Salad" by the WIggles when you're making dinner. And the kids are 11 and 13. Or when you find yourself listing all the names of all the people you know because you cannot remember the name of the child you birthed. Or when you are so sleep deprived, and exhausted, and braindead, that you find the…
  • Before MFP... I absolutely recommended WW. I've done it, and I know it works. BUT... I never really loved the Points System. When you compare the nebulous and mysterious "points" program to straight up calorie counting, there's really no comparison. What you're eating is what you're eating. We don't eat "Points". We eat…
  • I got the New Balance N4 for about $40 at Costco.
  • I've been using the settings and eating back "Most" of my exercise calories. In 50 days, I've lost almost 11 pounds. I only put in the standard "1 lb/week loss" goal because I've honestly done other diets where I lost a ton right away and the pounds came back with friends. I think the truth is slow and steady wins the race.
  • Mine would say a couple of things.... First, it would probably point out that it has seen more of me lately than it has in years. And by more I mean both in frequency, and in the ahem... AMOUNT of me. Then it would probably recognize there's less of me NOW than there was 49 days ago. Then it would ask me to put on…
  • I got a New Balance one at Costco for under $40 and it seems to work just fine.
  • I'd rather give up air than coffee. And the people around me would rather I give up air than coffee. 'nuff said!
  • 2 questions... 1) What will the creme brulee cost you and 2) is it worth it? Answers to those questions will tell you what you need to know. If it's going to cost a lot but it's worth it, enjoy. If it's not that much and it's worth it and nothing else will do, enjoy. If it's going to cost a lot and it's really not worth…
  • My suggestion would be to take measurements every couple of weeks. That way if you don't see the scale budge you have another way to gauge your success.
  • Even if its ugly... even if you know you went over... take a few minutes and fill in your log. To the best of your ability. Face it. That way, you can really process what you ate and what it meant. THEN, take a deep breath, and tell yourself from now on, if it's bitten, it's written. For me, coming to terms with what went…
  • I'll accept anybody at any time as my friend. I DO try to comment on your accomplishments but like everyone else I have other committments as well. Whether or not I manage to comment on EVERY accomplishment, I will cheer you on. I will hopefully make you laugh a little. I welcome anyone. What I WON"T do is false flattery.…
  • Sadly, the only kind of shoes I can walk in with my foot injury are ugly rocker bottom shoes (but NOT Skechers shape ups). I wear ones made by Avia or Dr. Scholl's. But you wouldn't want to have to walk a mile in them.
  • Here's my caveat... I've done "Atkins" and "south Beach".... the problem is yes those pounds leave quickly... but the minute that you start eating real food again, they come back. And they bring friends.
