  • 5'2"... but only on the outside. On the inside, I'm funny, sarcastic, and WAY taller. ;) Add away!
  • The more the merrier... but be warned.... I blog to amuse myself and my readers, I have a punful sense of humor, and I WILL call you out if you fall off the program. I will support your achievements and cheer you on!
  • I'm a stay-in-the-car mom (at least that's what it feels like) who owns and teaches at a martial arts school, runs my kids every which way but loose (they are 13 and 11) and in my spare time, writes a ridiculous blog on MFP just to amuse me! ;)
  • 2nd Degree black belt in ITF-style United States Taekwon-Do Federation Taekwon-Do. Supposedly testing for 3rd in the not-too-distant future which will be interesting since my foot injury in 2010. Our belt system: 10th gup 9th gup High White (white with yellow stripe) 8th Yellow Belt 7th High Yellow (yellow with green) 6th…
  • My 2 cents... since you asked. I think the BEST thing about MFP is that I can use it whereever I am whenever I want to. Why? Because that way I can plan and hold myself accountable. So I CAN pre-log if for example I'm heading to a restaurant and I want to know what i'm going to be having before I get there. On the other…
  • That the 4 food groups consisted of chocolate, cheese, cookies, and crusty breads.
  • For soup or stew, I would literally take a ladle and pour liquid into a measuring cup. Once you know how much your ladle holds, I would use that to determine how many servings your recipe makes. For me, I know it was worth the time to go ahead and fill my soup pot with "ladles" of water to figure out how many cups it would…
  • Something sparked in my brain when I saw your "typical" day... are you monitoring your sodium intake? That can get in the way FAST. Also, are you taking measurements off the scale to see if those are changing? And fyi.... I agree with all these folks telling you to be well above 1200 calories. I've seen other posters here…
  • To Eat or Not To Logging Food And Drinks Improves Awareness.
  • Here's the thing. If it would REALLY make such a difference to him... is HE really worth it? I say meet him (now a caveat. I'm a martial artist and a mom SO... meet him in a public place. And bring a friend. You do NOT take chances with your safety). If he's so superficial that he can't see past your outside now, he's not…
  • My student (who is on here as BlackbeltJourney) has been wearing one and been burning between 500-700 calories in my classes. :) Only wish I could get credit for the ones she burns!
  • Have you tried a recumbent bike or a seated elliptical?
  • Funny.... I JUST posted my status on this very subject. First of all, I am not a fish. I don't LIKE water. If there's a fish that can survive in Diet Coke, I'm probably that one. BUT I do know that drinking water will help me lose weight. I just can't stand drinking anything cold... so my solution is a lot of really weak…
  • Unfortunately, all I can ride is a recumbent bike... but I'm in. I'll shoot for 100 this month!
  • Actually I LOVE IT... Fluffy was the nickname given to me when I earned my 1st degree black belt (at our school, all the black belts get nicknames) and I'm associated with a Bichon which I had for 13 years. So I think of it as my personality, nothing to do with weight! :)
  • Two thoughts went through my brain at lightning speed... 1) It's not about what other people find attractive, it's about how you want to look FOR YOU... and 2) beauty is only skin deep. Clearly we see and judge each other by what's on the outside but if you're happy with who you are, it's just a matter of making your…
  • Of course since I'm one of the school's owners, I'm completely biased.... BUT... I LOVE OUR SCHOOL. We have a school run by 2 moms (my best friend is a 4th Dan and the head instructor) focused on families and we love running it!
  • I am a 2nd dan in USTF Taekwon-Do and co-Owner of a school in Grand Rapids, MI. Hosed my foot up (getting out of my car, believe it or not... no great story) and have been unable to effectively train (or for that matter walk without a limp) since then. Was SUPPOSED to have tested for my 3rd Dan in November 2010.... still…
  • To me, the Weight Watcher program was always a mystery... how did they decide what made a point and then guessing what that meant in terms of overall nutrition. I did the online program, and am a lifetime member and firmly believe that for some people who are not as into "control", it's a great program. I, however, want to…
  • You got it! :) You can DO This!
  • I'm on Day 2 and thinking this is the piece that's been missing from every diet I've ever been on... the accountability and the ability to reach out to friends near and far any time of the day or night. Feel free to add me as a friend!
  • Core exercises will help you tighten from the inside out. Crunches, leg lifts, any exercise that works your core muscles will help rebuild. Good luck!
  • Just like Dory... we'll just keep swimming... maybe not gracefully, but we can do this.
  • This is the BEST time to prepare your core to support the new you! You can tighten all of your abs if you do core exercises.... do twisting crunches (bringing elbow towards opposite knee) to work the sides, leg lifts (keep legs straight, raise them 6 inches off the ground, hold for 5 seconds, part legs and hold for 5…
  • This is the recipe my Grandma Rose used with one major change.... she would start with a fresh chicken and boil it and clean the water and boil it again.... WAY too much work for me! When I got her recipe, I began using a precooked rotisserie style chicken and this soup still is awesome! Put the whole Rotisserie cooked…
  • I'm on my 2nd day and have never found another program easier to use. I've done every diet you've ever heard of (and probably some you hadn't) and this seems like the perfect blend of individual choices and intelligent decision-making information. You CAN have that ice cream.... you just have to factor it in. Some people…
  • I joined yesterday and I'm so glad I did. Feel free to add me!
  • I feel your pain. I permanently hosed my foot up on 9/1/10 and gained weight over the last year when I kept thinking it was going to get better and I could get back on track with exercise. I know how frustrating it can be! Do feel free to add me as a friend... we can get each other through this!
  • I'm a 2nd degree black belt (admittedly out of shape but getting back on track) and would be happy to help! Friend me!
