I am just now seeing your response CaeliGirl11! Thank You so much for all the great tips! Luckily I had a friend take me out to the beach and practice running into the water with high knees and dolphin diving in (which I feel really awkward at but do like the straight up shallow diving) It helped ALOT. I have done 2 more…

Thanks everyone again for the tips. I decided to swim in the river on Sunday despite the shark warnings as I need practice desperately. I think my big downfall is that I am used to bilateral breathing so then in my last two tris I am swallowing a lot of water from the people next to me & waves. I am definitely going to…

Wow thanks so much that makes me feel a lot better that I'm not the only one really struggling here...we do the Tarzan drill I think that's what actually saved me as I saw a girl doing backstroke and I was able to go quite a bit faster even keeping my head up freestyle. I don't want to give it up but I just need to conquer…

Thank You for the tip Bob, I was going to recommend to my Coach to pick up the lane lines so the pool will get real choppy with all the swimmers. I definitely struggle with getting a mouth full of water when I'm expecting air. I was just wondering if other people have these same issues?? Do they just breathe on one side to…

Hi cguerra, I completed my first Sprint tri in September and did well in it, actually qualified for USA Nationals in the summer for being in top 10%. Started off as a runner with mostly 5Ks and a few halves under my belt but have come to almost enjoy the swimming & biking more as it is SO FUN!!!! Truly an addictive sport.…

Hi Everyone! I am originally a runner and have ran a million 5Ks PR 22:09 and 2 half marathons PR 1:51...was having some joint issues with hips and knees everytime I would try to train harder and was suggested by my physical therapist to swim 3x a week and biking would help as well. Accidently stumbled across a great deal…

I was REALLY bad with it. Dipping my strawberries in sugar, eating the kid's treats like Gushers or candies. I STOPPED Cold Turkey But yes I still get the sweet craving and I satisfy it by drinking Coconut Milk it's very sweet and yummy or reaching for a delicious sweet Key Lime Pie Greek yogurt packed full of protein.…

Brooks Ravenna for now. I've been through many, Cadence, Adrenaline's last year. Tried Saconys and they didn't offer enough support.

80 without a doubt. I've lived in Florida all my life and used to running in the heat. Anything under 50's I'm uncomfortably cold!

1200-1300 a day seems very low....maybe you should play with the #'s? Make sure you are eating enough, especially getting adequate protein, water and sleep. I agree with the other suggestions, you will not see as big of results doing the same repeat exercise day to day. You need to confuse the muscles and do different…

5'5", 128lb. and 22"-22 1/4" thighs, they are too thick for my liking have a hard time finding jeans to go up my thighs, very frustrating. Hope to take off a few more inches..

5'5 3/4" 128lbs. 22"-22 1/4" thigh measurements :/

I am a runner but also do Zumba, strength training, etc. However, my thighs have always been an issue for me! I have lost 25 pounds since early last year but my thighs are still 22"-22 1/4" around at the fattest part. I have nice muscle on the exterior part of my thighs but the interior are way too jiggly for my liking.…

PR Right now is 22:09 hoping to break it this winter! In regards to your time for your first 5K - you may be in the back of the running pack HOWEVER most races are also 5K Race / Walk so you should have walkers behind you and also maybe even mommies walking/jogging with their strollers. There is no shame in starting out in…

Hi, I am suffering from hip bursitis now and would appreciate any feedback. It is sharp pain preventing me from sleeping. I have seen a chiropractor twice and see him again Monday. No pain relief as of yet. Suffering on and off since March. Thank you

Hi Sarah, I am now suffering from hip bursitis and would appreciate anything you can share that helped you? Thanks!

Thank You for the response! I have had this suggested to me and looked at some Fish Oil at the store and got overwhelmed with which was the best one there are so many different kinds. Any suggestions? Thanks!

Thanks yes I thought I was running the inside curves of the course but apparantly not good enough, it was an extremely curvy course all in and our of neighborhoods so I was constantly crossing streets. Just need to get it down to a science was shocked at how far extra I ran just from those extra few steps here and there

I actually go to "The Run Shoppe" and do get fitted shoes I currently use Brooks Cadence for runs under 6 miles and Brooks Adrenaline for longer runs. I buy new shoes about every 3 months. I can not run in Nike or Sacony as they do not fit my feet well as I have a wider foot and the Brooks work well for me.

Thank You and Good Luck in your race!

I do actually have a foam roller and a stick to roll out my ITBand but honestly only use it a handful of times a week, I need to use it more diligently. Thank You for the advice! :)

The McMillan predicts I should be able to run a 1:43:01 half marathon pace :/ Thank You for the great tips I have stayed away from training on the bridge as much b/c it hurts my knees but I think I need to do it once a week and just ice and strength train and hopefully it will correct itself as they get stronger. Thanks…
-
Thank You very much for the response! I truly appreciate it! I DEFINITELY need to increase my mileage I always back off once my knees start hurting which is one of the reason I'm trying to incorporate more strength training for my ITBand I think may be weak and be a part of the problem with my knee & hip issues. Thanks…
