I've been clean eating for a few months now...only fresh produce (the more colourful the better), whole grains and lean protein (I only eat fish...but that's a lifestyle choice for me). Take a look at 'The Eat-Clean Diet' by Tosca Rena. Great book...she also writes for Oxygen.

Good job on your loss. I've heard of this happening...it's like sending your body into shock (or as another poster stated 'fooling your metabolism'. I've actually read that some encourage a 'bad' day. I certainly wouldn't make it a habit, but don't beat yourself up.
