Thank you, I will try the TDEE for a few weeks!
-
Thank you-great advice!
-
I believe you are right....I have been reading on the group's new website and I have good numbers, but looking at my averages I am not hitting the right number of calories.
-
Start with walking. Just push yourself to move, dirt roads, fields, (wear some sturdy shoes) it doesn't matter just increase your heart rate. Maybe some free weights, some whole body workouts with DVD's.
-
Thank you, will do, I didn't really include exercise in my TDEE, so I will use the new link to recalculate. Are you the author of that great spreadsheet? Thank you so much. I have also been using the Heart Rate section to increase the intensity of my workouts. Thank you so much!

I think the key is to persist, keep pushing yourself, and MIX it up. At least I hope this is correct because I have been jogging/geriatric shuffling since May but my weight loss has stalled, so as of Dec 31 I have added strength, cardio, classes, Fartleks, etc. From all I have read the key is properly combining strength…
-
I read about the dreaded fartleks, last month, and have been reluctant to do them, but I know I need to push it with some intervals. Thank you so much.
-
Oh my goodness! It is so amazing how good common sense plays into everything! I will apply what you have suggested, and I think it basically comes down to-I need to push myself a little harder! Thank you so much!

I used this after Jan to March eating way below TDEE and feeling awful and not losing anything. I use it now frequently. spreadsheet-bmr-tdee-deficit-macro-calcs-hrm-zones">http://www.myfitnesspal.com/topics/show/813720-spreadsheet-bmr-tdee-deficit-macro-calcs-hrm-zones

Thank you I will check first, as it is I will be doing well to finish before they pack up and leave!
-
My fitness palS are so great...I am going for it....10k in February. Thank you for all the good advice!
-
I will pray for you! "we do not grieve as those who have no hope"
-
Will do...and I hope it helps.
-
the very same! I am slowly losing inches, and I hope there is some muscle building underneath all my fat! I know I need to clean up my diet. I have cauliflower baking now.
-
Thank you, those are all great tips! I know you are right!
-
Google Jeff Galloway, I like his approach.

Check out the thread, excel spreadsheet for calculating TDEE BMR, and eat back your exercise calories. I spent 3 months starving myself, and am pushing now to eat ENOUGH (check out the eat more to weigh less group). I have been at this since January, and only lost 4 pounds, but I have lost inches, and feel great, and am…

This is the Cabbage Soup diet developed by some cardiologists to help some heart patients lose weight quickly....it is reported to work...40 pounds is a stretch though. Google cabbage soup diet and read. As all quick weight loss diets-it is difficult to maintain long term. You still need to keep up all your good lifestyle…

That is terrific! I am just now getting up to 2.5 and 3 miles-incredibly slow but I have a hilly neighborhood-and am working on speed! I just started in May.
-
Perhaps changing your daily eating habits to make sure, #1 that you are eating enough calories according to your weight, height and body fat percentages (I like the eat more to weigh less group threads). You really don't seem very heavy according to your height. If you are not planning in some small treats/snacks during…

I agree with your ticker mrsvanderpool!!!!
-
Mrsvanderpool- so that really is a geriatric shuffle for me!! I can just log under walking-thank you!
-
Thank you so much for the help. I don't have a smart phone-but I can take my pulse. I am shooting for increasing my distance, and not worrying so much about the times yet.
-
I really enjoy this website! It is so entertaining, but very informative. I am going to increase my calories to meet my 1600 goal esp more protein, alternate jogging days with either strength training or cardio, and try to spread my eating throughout the day. I wouldn't want to jump in on the debate about whether or not…
-
Thank you mrsbigmack-that sounds reasonable. I am aiming to eat at least my goal, and 1/2 my exercise calories, and am strength training on non running days.
-
Terrific advice-my goal is 1600 and I only met that yesterday when I jumped off the wagon in frustration! I have never eaten back my exercise calories. I am pretty sure those jogging calories are off, because my entire neighborhood is gentle, and some steep hills. Anyway, I am off to the grocery to get some good foods!…
-
Thank you for that advice-I believe you are right. I have struggled to reach my goal calories, and I am going to try 6 small meals a day-or 5 at least.
-
Thank you!!!
-
Not small at all!

I have to ask, I have never lifted, and my weight loss has stalled, though I have lost inches jogging every day. Do you mind sharing your routine? WTG BTW!!!
