The more weight you lose, the less you'll lose if that makes sense? It's easier for a 18st man to lose fat/weight than it is for a 15st man. Also, don't look at 'weight' it's an inaccurate figure! Go on how you look/feel. Muscle mass weights a lot more than fat, so you may well be slimming down, but you won't be losing…

Ha - no offence mate, wrong gender :P

Maybe try some weights? Legs/Chest/Arms and back? I'm training for a Ironman, and I've found it helps to keep the weight off!
-
Keep it posted on your "Comments" too - as [I don't think] we get notifications of things on the forum... If you ever need any encouragement - come see me :P
-
Also - if you want some short-term goals... look into Body Fat Index (I wrote massive rant on BMI/Slim Fast here) http://www.sklinar.co.uk/2013/05/04/stop-worrying-about-bmi-start-focusing-on-figure-and-goals/

We need more opinions like this. Don't go for fad diets (The clue is in the name!). Just eat healthy, work out (Weights are great, cardio is too). There is no magic bullet I'm afraid. Slow and Steady wins the race here.
-
These only work in the short-term... what happens when you come off the diet?
-
Definitely - you've got a long term goal, but try find some short-term milestones to tick off too! Maybe start a blog and right about what you learn? Challenges? Struggles? etc....

I was confused about this once too... I thought that the lower zones burnt more fat... but it's wrong, it's just a certain % of fat burnt is fat. for example, as I can't remember the figure, lets say it's 85% fats, 10% carbs, 5% protein, and 100kcal/hr. As your heart rate increase, the fat % goes down, but the carb % goes…

Things do take time.. so don't stress too much if you don't see an immediate effect! Something I found is to stop worrying about weight (per se), forget BMI, and focus on how you feel/look and Body Fat Index. The weight will come off, but if you work out or such, you will gain muscle, and as it weighs more than fat, it…

But on another note - PearlMorning - Keep it up :D

Fruit and Veg may contain sugar... but they're considered "quality carriers" because of the vitamins and nutrients they bring - also, it's not refined sugar :)
-
Also, find what what works for YOU - then make it part of YOUR routine, it's more likely to become permanent if it's personal, and your hard work went into it... Just don't become obsessed..
-
Well said, take some cook books as inspiration.. as Jules said - don't copy, as if you looked at mine some days you'd see things close to 5-6000kcal but that's because I'm in training for an Ironman Triathlon. Just don't under-eat if you're working out - that's one of the worst things to do!
-
No, no, you're right... But I wouldn't expect a Doctor to be giving nutritional advise anyway... but that could just be a UK thing...
-
Any doctor that says to cut out Carbs/Fats or Proteins needs to go back to med school....
-
Couldn't have said it better myself. Fruits/Veg has sugar (Carbs in), and as Carbs are good (you need these to help metabolise fats), keep eating them. Like @FitnessSocial said, you really want to make sure you get some macro nutrients.…

Shush.. Weight training can also be an effective cardio workout. Also, do you see any fat people who do weights!? I can speak from experience, that weights will aid in losing/burning. Please take some time to read up on nutrition and exercise... When muscles are tired they need to use carbs/fats/proteins to recover.. which…

I guess it all depends what you're used to! But considering the recommended (here in the UK) for a woman is 2,000, it's 40% off that! essentially starving ones-self! I'm no nutritionist - but it doesn't sound healthy!
-
If you want your sugar fix, maybe try something different? Fruit will have the same simple carbs (quick burning) as the sweets you eat. Breakfast is the most important meal of the day! Overnight, your glycogen stores (maybe that one) in your liver will be depleted, so you need to replenish them with some complex carbs -…

It looks more to be the quality of the food, oppose to being under/over :) Should be easy to rectify!
-
And excellent book on nutrition I'm reading - spells it ALL out! www.amazon.com/Chris-Carmichaels-Food-Fitness-Carmichael/dp/0425202550 Get it second hand!
-
Well put! I'd stay away from sweeteners though! Sugar is natural, so you're better off with sugar is anything, but perhaps try less of it! But yeh, drop the slimfast for breakfast - have something with some complex carbs in - porridge, or most cereals! (I personally think slimfast etc.. is a con, and a waste of money!)…
-
2,400 - I think with all my training, I'm around that... come July it's going up to 3,500-4,000-kcal a day! But, yeh can't be easy!
-
Maybe take a look at the foods your eating? As well as the calorie count? You say you've hardly been working out... when working out/training, you naturally eat more, then when you stop, you're still eating more! I've done that, been there.. top athletes even put on a bit of weight when they stop, as it's such a shock to…
-
Maybe try something with some fibre in? Fibre is naturally good for the digestive system, and will make you feel fuller! Is this your evening meal? Salad for an evening meal!?! When do you do your exercise? Surely you'll need some fuel for that? P.s if you're eating this after exercise, you'll need to replenish your carb…
-
I'd stop worrying about weight, and just focus on figure... muscle weighs more than fat, because it's denser, so if your clothes are looser, then count it as progress! Sounds like you've gained muscle and lost fat - so good work!
-
As Cr01502 said, it's one of the biggest myths in the industry - as with "Low-Fat"! Carbs aren't bad for you! Infact the majority of your diet should be carbs... it's getting the right carbs that matters... Fruits and vegetables both contain carbs... its the kind of carbs that you want to cut out that is what matters! I'd…
