28 degress this morning, but summer in AK has been pretty cold this year. One of my coworkers from S. Cali had to wear thermals all summer, lol! =-)

Congrats on finishing and that is an awesome time for a first event!! I also have a hybrid and have used it for sprint tris for the past three years. I will upgrade eventually =-).

I have more of a problem dropping a shirt size because most of the Misses sizes are too short, too tight across the bust, or both, lol! And plus sizes are way too big for me. I had the hardest time finding pants though, because I really have no hips, and even if I bought guys pants they were way saggy in the rear if the…

Howdy! I am 29, from Alaska, did my first sprint tri in may of 2010, the Women's Gold Nugget Triathlon. That got both me and my husband really training so I could beat my time the next year, so I did it again spring of 2011 and came in 8th in the "most improved" category, also did a local sprint triathlon, which was also…

I've had longer hair and shoulder length--I do a ponytail under my swim cap, and under my helmet and for the run I normally just do a low pony tail/bun thingy (when hair was longer) and I either wear a bandana covering my head to keep flyways away from my face, or for the last one I bought a super wide headband that says…

I like all of the Kashi bars I've tried, their GOLEAN are my favorite nutrition and fulness wise. I also like Larabars.

I drink coffee every day too. I don't always do sugar, but sometimes. I usually just do half and half. I've lost 37ish pounds to date. Like many others said, as long as you aren't going over calories or anything and you exercising the extra coffee calories, you should be fine! =-)

I don't know if you can find it, but Aloha Shoyu brand soy sauce is 0 calories and like 780mg of sodium for 1 Tbsp. Or drink bullion dissolved in water, a mug of boiling water with 1-2 bullion cubes.

Not trying to stir the pot, but in a pre-olympics interview they did on NBC with Ryan Lochte, he admitted to "living in the McDonalds" in Bejing in 2008. He has since changed his diet and cut out junk food...so there will always be the one "renegade" who eats there. I also noticed that McDonalds is specifically offering…

It rips!! Both are soo much fun to ride! The FZ6 is a great beginner bike, especially if you've never really been on a motorcycle before, the Z1000 has a lot of power and is great for zooming around on the country roads around where I live! We actually used to have a Kawasaki ZR7S, but my husband and was in an accident…

I have lots of toys =-) Motorcycle in my profile pic is my 2004 Yamaha FZ6--LOVE IT!, also have a 2004 Kawasaki Z1000 (in Kawasaki green, LOVE it too!) Cars: 1992 Ford Taurus SHO, 1988 Pontiac Grand Prix, 2003 Mazda Protege 5 (our "work horse") and a 30th anniversary, special edition, supercharged 2003 Pontiac Grand…

Everyone else had good advice. I totally second practicing transitions, the hardest for me is the bike to run transition because it freaks my leg muscles out, lol. I also think the diet piece is really important, I have a very sensitive stomach and I have to be very careful what I eat the day before and the day of leading…

Sounds like a great program! Where did you get it??

I read YA books too...it's a nice vacation for my brain =-)

Awesome! I had that same thing too this past spring...my wedding band (got married last summer) and my engagement ring both had to be re-sized from an 11 and a 10...to an 8.5 and a 8.75 respectively (my wedding band is thicker so they made it a little bigger). Isn't a great feeling!!! =-)

Try buying things like canned chicken and tuna, that can be cheaper than fresh. Also, what do you normally do with the meat? By making something like a pasta sauce with meat, or soups, you can significantly reduce the amount of meat being consumed without sacrificing it. Also try buying dried beans to mix in as well, they…

My husband and I are on a fairly limited budget as well, so our food choices aren't always "perfect" as far as health is concerned, but they are affordable. When I find that I have to eat higher-calorie foods because that is what we have to eat (like pbj for lunch, etc.) I just work out extra to burn the extra calories. As…

Nobody mentioned ground pork...it isn't the easiest meat to find around my place, but most butcher shops should have something (and I am *not* talking about pork sausage...just unseasoned, plain ground pork).
