  • Still running here! 25 weeks. I get in 3 runs a week, 3-4 miles, then a long run on sundays about 6 miles. I have to constantly tell myself to slow down. Though the need to pee definately helps the slowing down process. I'm still racing, doing a 10k on mothers day weekend.
  • Waxing while prengant REALLY hurts. And I've had a child with no epidural...and that crap hurts. I just shave...it all. When I'm pregnant and can't see, I use an electric razor once. Get rid of all of it, then shave every shower.
  • Just did the TM in missouri this past Saturday. It was NOT what I expected....it was AMAZING!! I expected to be challenged physically, but I did not expect the comradery and what a moving experience it was. We are very patriotic and come from a long line of vets in our home. One of the biggest pulls for me to do this, was…
  • Or even a "left" or a cough...
  • Not insanely hilly, but through the woods with hills. Certainly not a flat, road run :)
  • I will be in out of town for this year. I ran it in Old Monroe last year. The run is pretty hilly, so being able to run a hilly 5k is important. I didn't feel the obstacles where super upper body intensive, more things having to do with height, climbing, things like that. It was fun, that's for sure. No mud until the very…
  • Pumpkin spice latte- You can use a french press or brew it. I use a FP 2 1/2 cups hot water 4 tbsp coffee 1 tbsp pumpkin pie spice 2 cups unsweetened vanilla almond milk (or milk w/ vanilla) 2 tbsp maple syrup or 2 packets of truvia This above is 2 servings With the maple syrup & almond milk- 100 calories & 12 sugars per…
  • The "doubt" is that by doing 30 day shred for a few weeks, you've built any muscle. It is REALLY hard for anyone to put on muscle, but really hard for woman, much less at a calorie deficit. I am a muscular woman. Played sports most of my life and gained weight having kids. I am a runner as well. While incredibly muscular,…
  • I love running, especially longer distances. Not boring, it's my release, my mediation. Around mile 4-5 is where my runs get super comfortable and I feel great. As far as the Nike+. I run 15-20 miles a week average. I use that app only when I'm trying to measure a new route or when I'm training and more than half my…
  • I Strollerblade all the time and have never thought about it. I wouldn't think it was too many more. I don't notice as much of a difference in pushing them when I blade as I do when I run.
  • I started New rules 5 weeks ago. the first 8 weeks are the same 2 workouts, with only 5 "moves" each workout. I brought the book the first week, just to make sure my form was good on the squats & deadlifts and since then I just know that now, I'm 3 sets, 10 reps on everything, but abs is 20. Super easy. I was inbetween…
  • I'm with you!! Of course a totally crappy, fatigued run is a different thing. When I run a 5k, I pretty much have to continuously tell myself to keep going. I feel like I want to stop!! Now on a 10 or 12 mile run, I feel great the first few miles, then like I can run forever 4-5 miles in. My guess, is simply that I'm still…
  • Yeah, I just came in 2nd in my age group (35-39) with a time of 24:42. (it was a PR...I was so excited!!!) Which also beat the #1 in the 25-29 group. My husband who is super speedy is in the high 21 for a 5k and he has been running for 6 years. I can't even imagine trying to go from 9 to sub 7 in 3 months. Not possible
  • Everything he said. You can't possible go from nothing to 25 miles a week and expect to stay injury free. As far as trying to move your time down that fast as well, bad idea. I've been running a little over a year. I started a half marathon training program July of 2011. Now I run about 25 miles a week average. My 5k time…
  • I eat what most would call "low Carb" and have no problem on my long runs. My main thing is to make sure I eat an hour before I run and hydrate properly. I find I have more trouble if I don't drink an electrolyte drink than not eating enough carbs. I'll eat a peice of whole wheat toast with peanut butter and I'm good to…
  • Im only on week 4, but I'm throwing out my scale. I've lost inches and that is what counts!! The scale lies. Who cares if I keep fluctuating between 162-159...if I fit in size 6 and size 8 clothes. My best example is that I weighed 160lbs when I got married and was in a size 10-12. I know it's hard, but 5 inches is…
  • There is a NROWL4W group here. I just started my 4th week and have scoured that group for all my answers. It's an awesome program so far!!!
  • Physically inside is easier. No hills, treadmill does some of the work for you (unless you keep it at an incline of 1 or higher, then more similar) Now, that being said, I HATE running on a treadmill with a passion!!! I can run 13 miles in 100 heat, but get me on a treadmill and 5 minutes in I want to pull my hair out!!!…

  • I second what she said. But, I'll give you my take on some shoes. I run 15-30 miles a week. I'm 5'9 160 lbs and I am a neutral pronator (your weight and height is important when picking shoes, as is your gait). I currently am running in New Balance road minimus for short runs (3-4 miles), Brooks pure flow and trances for…
  • I mainly eat whole food. Fruits, veggies, protein, legumes, some grains, seeds, heathly oils and nuts. I also use whey protein. Once a week I have a meal where I eat whatever I want. I feel great, lose weight. Now, if I eat a bunch of processed, sugary food a few meals in a row I'm bloated and feel crappy. It's hard to…
  • No idea about phil & ted's, I have a BOB revolution duallie. My kids had crazy good head control, but I used an infant headrest in my stroller while in recline and started running when they were six weeks.
  • While I am very big on eating clean, my husband is a type 1 diabetic and we have gone through many protein powders trying to find one that won't mess his blood sugars up. We LOVE the dymatize 100!! Berry flavor we have been using for 6 months and just ordered some chocolate. Also, we use Ultima replenisher as an…
  • I eat it like once a day...for real. Besides using it as an alternative for pasta, I sautee it in olive oil & garlic. Serve cold with olives, tomatoes and cucumbers cut up. Its awesome!
  • I haven't read through everyone's responses, but our stories are similar. I'm 5'9 and started at 225. I am currently 159 and looking to go down another dress size, but reached my goal weight wise. I checked out your diary and here is what I have to say: I started my weighloss journey 10/26/2010 the day after I had my…
  • That's just kind of hilarious to me since it's the "skinny' women the media bombards us with, so I very much enjoy seeing the posts that find athletic/muscular women sexy.
  • I'm also with others about the term "cheat meal". I just eat very healthy Sunday-thursday and don't crazy myself out on the weekends. If I want some cake, I'll eat it. One meal won't kill you...it's eating like that all day, every day that's the problem. Deprivation will cause failure, in my opinion.
  • I eat whatever I want, one meal a week. I still lose, and I actually think it helped my plateau. Not only that, it keeps me sane. That said, last weeks meal was whole wheat pasta, homemade sauce, one slice of garlic bread, 1 homemade chocolate chip cookie with 1 cup of vanilla ice cream & some hershey's chocolate sauce.…
  • 3 weeks ago I was stuck at a 2 month plateau with my last 10-15 lbs. I'm a runner 20-30 miles a week and I instruct fitness classes. I knew I was getting plenty of cardio. . I knew more cardio wasn't going to do anything, so I bought The New Rules of lifting for Women and started the program. I'm in my 3rd week. I've lost…
  • Thanks! I get usually between 100 -150 grams of protein. I don't eat alot of grains, I eat very "clean". Tons of veggies, chicken, fish, fruit. I added steel cut oats and some whole wheat bread. Going to try a few of the recipes with lentils and stuff. I was just surprised by how hungry 2 extra workouts are making me.…
