  • Musclepharm Combat. I haven't met a flavor they make that I don't like and I have tried them all. Cellucor makes a good tasting whey also. I get their cinnamon swirl, tastes like cinnamon toast crunch.
  • You're exactly right. 5x5's are excellent for building muscle. That added muscle will help to burn fat. While the scale may not change, or possibly even go up a pound or two (Yikes!), your body composition will greatly improve with the added muscle!
  • Like someone above mentioned, GOBLET SQUATS!!!!! They were invented by Dan John, who is a genius, and they are an amazing lift. They help your form by the way your hold the weight, and can be a great aerobic burn with higher reps. Youtube goblet squats and there are a bunch of videos that will show you how to do them. You…
  • I mix a little bit of mashed fresh fruit or some amino acid powder into carbonated water to make my own "Healthy" soda. Just like you I love the carbonation and have to have it!
  • I like DB alternating press. It really helps isolate the pec and you can press some heavy weight this way
  • Don't worry about it. Protein is good for you. It keeps you full and helps to build muscle. I try and eat 1g protein for every lb of body weight. Obviously that would be tough for some people, but through meat and protein shakes its pretty manageable for me
  • Do sprints in the gym or sprint up stairs. That way you don't have to "run" as long so you won't get bored. And sprints are much better for burning calories than long distance running anyway!
  • Try walking for 10-15 minutes to warm your legs up and then stretch your legs really good. You're going through Delayed Onset Muscle Soreness (DOMS) and like they said above, it will go away with time and more lifting once your body becomes accustomed to the lifting. But until then, stretch really good and get plenty of…
  • Take a wash cloth and put it on the ground. Sit down and pick the wash cloth up with your barefoot (Use your toes). Lift it up and then drop it. Repeat 10-15 times. Also like someone else said, roll a frozen water bottle or can of frozen juice concentrate under your foot while pulling your toes to your shin. I had it for a…
  • I like greek yogurt a lot more. Its packed with protein, and the sugar content is a little lower than a lot of the regular yogurts.
  • For ICE CREAM I found a great recipe on here or another site, I can't remember. Here's what to do: Peel two bananas and slice them into discs about 1/4" thick. Spread the banana discs on a plate and freeze for 1-1.5 hours until they are frozen solid. Remove from freezer and put them in a food processor. Start processing…
  • Very nice! Hard work pays off
  • Just stick with it! I measure and weigh almost all of my food now to stay on my diet. At first it was hard to eat a serving size of something because I was used to eating 3 or 4 times the amount. Now a serving size is plenty and I don't find myself wanting more after Im done
  • More energy. I love the feeling when the endorphins get pumping! Better than any drug
  • The only reason you would have to cycle off of it is if you feel like its effectiveness has worn off. If you still get the pump and energy rush that allows you to get a great lift in, then keep on using it like you are now. But, if you feel like you need to start taking 2 scoops or more, cycle off for 2-3 weeks and then…
  • If you don't want to cook 2 meals, look into individual serving cups of multigrain medleys. You can get them under 200 calories and they have brown rice, quinoa, and other whole grains in the cup. You microwave it for like 1minute and your good to go. That would save you 150-200 calories just with the rice switch. For…
  • I really like Muscle Pharm Combat protein powder. I use it and another one of their items and I really like them. The powder has 140 calories(More if you add milk instead of water) 25g of protein, and hardly any sugar. It tastes amazing too, none of that chalky taste you get with a lot of other protein powders. For a…
  • I wouldn't have him lift any free weights since he most likely doesn't have the nervous system recruitment to control the weight and could get hurt. Like the other people have suggested: medicine ball tosses, bodyweight squats, lunges, pushups/pullups all could be great workouts where he doesn't have to have a huge bar…
