Does the SL 5x5 help with fat loss also?
I am just starting to research this and from what I have read, it helps with strength, build muscles, etc.
Is fat loss a given then with the increased muscle building?

You're exactly right. 5x5's are excellent for building muscle. That added muscle will help to burn fat. While the scale may not change, or possibly even go up a pound or two (Yikes!), your body composition will greatly improve with the added muscle!0

So perhaps, if I am counting on losing "numbers" maybe I should start this later on into my journey?
I get 4-5 workouts a week now doing various exercises ...boxerfit, workout with a trainer, spin, walking,
and gym workouts.0 -
You'll lose fat by eating at a calorie deficit. You may not see as big changes on the scale as he said. But you will most likely see them in inches if you start taking measurements
Ive been doing SL for 8 weeks now and Ive seen a big change0 -
SL is more for strength gain than size gain, but for a beginner, training for strength sorta IS training for size. That said, the fat loss comes from burning more calories than yo uconsume, not what particular lifting routine you use. The lifting is to keep the muscle you have.0

AND it's been shown that strength programs are best for keeping your muscle while dieting.

Reasonable enough for the first time through. If you have actually built some mass and are wanting to keep it on a subsequent cut, a good rule of thumb is to "lift the same way that got you the muscle in order to keep the muscle"0 -
I started SL just after X-mas and while I have not lost weight, I have lost inches, and I've gotten way stronger:happy:0
