  • I try to limit my diet coke to only one or two a week. It's very high in sodium which could be the problem for slow weight loss. I feel your pain, I am slow to lose because of Celiac disease. So far I am averaging a pound a week. You can add me if you like as a friend. I need some one to push me to exercise more as well!…
  • It took me awhile to figure this out too! The calorie on the site for a fried egg are fried the fatty way. If you search through the database a bit more (I found it by accident!) and you will see "homemade fried egg (Pam). That gives you a more accurate calorie count. I always allow a bit of wiggle room for mistakes in the…
  • But gyro meat is very heavy on additives, including fillers (that add calories), fat, and loads of sodium. Lamb it self is lean providing you cut away the fat.
  • Also sugar has nothing on gluten! It's in everything and called about 200 different things! It takes me hours to grocery shop!
  • Greek yogurt! put a tablespoon of honey and a few walnuts or even better fruit on top and visualize a Greek island beach. We were there in May and that was a dessert every night (I couldn't eat the pastries as I have celiac disease - no gluten!). I have to avoid the little mini meringues - I can't stop!
  • Of course we should also notice how much mayo the guy in front of you got! How many useless calorie was that! I always say look around for the largest person (I know people look at me as well, but I'm changing that!!) look at what they are ordering and avoid that! They really shouldn't be so stingy with the veggies Your…
  • One of my favorites is spring greens with goat cheese, candied walnuts, blueberries , and blueberry vinaigrette. Yum! Tonight I am having another favorite - again start with spring greens, throw on an avocado, pomegranate, avocado. and Newman's lighten up balsamic vinaigrette. I love salads!! Sandra Rowland
  • Yes, sore muscles are caused by a build up of lactic acid. The fluid will leave in a few days but keep up the exercise! The soreness will go away as well as the weight. Great job!
  • I watch calories, fat, carbs, protein, sodium, and fiber. Fiber as I have celiac disease and rarely get enough fiber unless I watch it. That just makes me feel better. Sandra
  • Love spinning classes! If my life settles down again I will go back to my normal 4 times a week. You really burn the calories and sweat. I swear your fingernails sweat! If you can go get a pair of bike shorts with the padded bottom. Your bum will be sore but keep going. It really is an adrenaline rush!!
  • I believe it doesn't matter which scale you use - the Wii, home scale, or the gym scale, as long as you are using one consistently. I too trust the Wii as much as I trust the home digital scale, the gym scale, and the doctors scale. I personally don't like the gym scale as it is just too public, even when they tuck it…
  • You can friend me if you would like. I'm fairly new as well, just a few weeks. Still trying to get a grip on my eating and exercise. I need pushes for exercise as that is my best way to lose. Eating I'm not horrible, room for improvement but not horrible! Sandra
  • I plan my shopping to include salad ingredients for 3 meals (sometimes a snack!). Breakfast always includes a fruit salad, the other 2 meals a green salad with a variety of toppings. The salad is always on my plate, not on a separate bowl. That cuts down on the calories in a meal! Breakfast salad is fruit only - no sugar!…
  • I agree with Tricia329! Real English tea please. We lived in England as well, but I was addicted early in life when my Grandmother would give me after school Scottish history lessons. Yorkshire tea is good and I can get it here in Boston but my favorite is Waitrose Organic Assam. When friends come to visit or we go there…
  • I have been on a cruise and actually lost weight! I do not do buffets (former elementary teacher and once you have watched kids in line you refuse to eat any buffet!) so we ate all our meals in the restaurants (also included!). We discovered the food in the restaurants was fresher than the buffet lines - sometimes you see…
  • Why do you "want " to go GF? It is not a weight loss trick, it is a necessary way of living for those of us with celiac disease. Unfortunately a GF diet will cause weight gain if you use substitutes. As a general rule GF breads, cakes, cookies, etc. have added fat to help hold it together. As the taste is not the same so…
