  • congratulations! That is one of my long term goals. So happy for you that you did it!
  • I know that feeling! I finally decided to do them instead of a wall slap and I think I was more worried about looking bizarre than anything else, but I got the hang of them pretty quickly! I never had learned as a kid because we had swim team in a lake with a floating dock.. No walls!

  • Polyester all the way. Dolfin Uglies are my favorite. They never die. My boys also have TYR Durafast jammers that are holding up well. My oldest usually does his swim team practice in regular old cheap trunks. Those things last a very long time.
  • I'm 5'2". In January when I joined I weighed 129. My highest non-pregnant weight was last year at 132. I now weigh 119 and while my goal is 110 or below, I am actually focusing more on 18% body fat as a goal. I just got measured at 28%, so I have a ways to go. I was simply eating too much because I was used to being…
  • When I did the half in Las Vegas in Dec, there was a guy dressed as Borat. If he shows up to yours, have no doubt no one will even notice your camelbak. :) Like everyone said, nothing different, just go with what has been working for you. BTW, so it doesn't rub or make your back too hot? I thought about using mine for…
  • I'm 41. Have 4 kids: 13, 10,9,4
  • So this thread inspired me to stop at Macy's today when I had a spare 20 minutes. I hunted for and found some 32Ds, and tried about six bras on. I found the Maidenform tshirt bra in a 32D was just a scoch too small in the cup for me, but of course there were no 32DDs in that bra out on the rack. I might see if I can order…
  • And in the mean time, I am wearing sports bras 90% of the time. Squishy but at least everything kind of stays in place.
  • According to this I am a 30E (ribs 29.5", fullest part of bust, 34.5") Is E the same thing as DD? Right now I wear a 34D and the band could be snugger, and the cups are starting to have a bit of a loose feel, so I was going to try a 32D, but maybe I should try a 32D, 30E, and 30D? Man, I have to figure out where I am going…
  • Thank you I will try there too.
  • Thanks! I will give them a shot.
  • I have been wearing a 34D for the past year in a Bali basic smooth bra with underwire and now that I lost 7lbs, I was thinking about getting a 32D. I am going to have to hunt down the 32 band size, I could not find it at the store I got the 34Ds. Any suggestions on where to shop besides online for getting the smaller band…
  • Oh my goodness I have no idea what solidifying your fat even means. I heartily agree with everyone who says start weight training now. Don't wait. I also enjoy throwing in calisthenics like burpees, pushups, pullups, which use your own body weight as resistance and are kind of a mix of cardio and strength training (if done…
  • My daughter started wanting to run 5Ks in the past few months. She just turned 10. They involve a lot of walk breaks and encouragement for now, since running is new to her. She swims, and does gymnastics practice 3 hours at a time, twice a week, with almost an hour of physical conditioning (calisthenics like burpees and…
  • There is a half-marathon and an 8K both coming up on 4/7. I haven't decided which one. I wasn't planning on anything longer than a 10K this spring, and the 8K entry fee is cheaper, and its closer, so I'm leaning towards the 8K. I got the itch to do another half, but I think I need more distance runs to be in better shape.…
  • This I love! :) I don't know why I didn't think of this earlier. I will be ready for a marathon in no time! LMAO!
  • Absolutely log it. when I only have less than 30 min to get some exercise in, I do a high intensity one that involves calisthenics at a very good effort and running. I am certain it helps my fitness level, and is definitely worth more than simply ignoring it.
  • I'd find a specialty store with the biggest selection you can find, and then have them show you absolutely everything that would work for you. I think that is the best way. Honestly, I think those brightly colored "ugly" shoes are the best looking, but tastes vary! You may completely disagree with my taste...:)
  • Hi, I'm Dolli. I have run one half-marathon (RnR Las Vegas 2011), and hope to do another one or two this year. 10K is a distance I have never raced, and I am hoping to do one soon. There aren't as many 10Ks as there are 5Ks, halfs, fulls, and ultras where I live, it seems, but it is an interesting distance for me. I'd…
  • Yes definitely get the right shoes. Also, shin splints can be caused by your calf muscles being too tight, leading you to lift your foot with the tibialis muscle when you stride. Make sure you are stretching your calf muscles every day. Adding more stretching and using orthotics in my shoes helped me get over the pain in…
  • I agree with wolfchild. Honestly, if you live near one, I suggest going to a running store. They will fit you to the proper shoe. In a running store, you are more likely to have a few choices of a shoe that will work well for your gait/style/foot shape, and you can choose from there. I wear big ugly clodhopper Saucony…
  • Congratulations on your transformation! You have a lot to be proud of; you worked so hard! I love your home gym setup.
  • I guess I'm in the minority. I consider sports bras a bra, not a top all on its own. I wear a tank top or cami over mine. You might want to check with your gym if you haven't seen anyone else doing it.

  • Now I hate that they don't hit on me LMAO. In my 20s, every man over 50 at the gym would talk to me. Now that I am 41, the guys pushing 70 offer an occasional "good job" when I am trying not to vomit from doing too many burpees and no one hits on me, ever. I don't really have any complaints since I mostly work out at the…

  • How low carb are you going? (g/day) How about a protein shake? You can do chocolate powder, almond milk, and ice. You could have fish and vegetables for breakfast. eg grilled salmon or baked tilapia and some steamed zucchini or asparagus. I precook a ton of fish and then wrap it individually, and microwave it. Think beyond…
