I use to be a Spin Instructor. You're doing it right. When your resistance is low; you bounce around in the seat when sitting and when standing and your bouncing around; your using the whole body to turn over the pedals.

I only have that problem if I do more than an hour at a high level of intensity. I find that if I workout for 30-45 mins I have more energy; more than that and I'm spent. I try to reserve my long workouts for the weekend when I can take a mid-afternoon nap ;-)

I concur with the others, find a new doctor. Regarding your plateau, you may need to alter your workout. If you are doing long periods of cardio try doing intervals (treadmill, elliptical, bicycle, walking). Yes, I can't believe it myself. I've always worked out so my biggest challenge has been on the nutrition side so this is perfect. I'm getting results and not changing much at all.
