  • Not a great start to the month! 01 July: Ride to the beach and back with my horses bestie = 13,502 steps 02 July: No walk at dinner / workout due to weather and being at work = 5,685 steps = 19,891 total for my half million step challenge
  • Hi All, So my goals for July are a bit different, half way through this month, I'll be going back to my 'normal' shift pattern. I've signed up for Diabetes UK to walk half a million steps over the next 3 months....;so my goals are: Walk at dinner time Ride my horse / Walking Work out on an evening - at least one strength…
  • Had a bit of a fail over the weekend and didn't manage to do any workouts BUT did do a walk on the hottest day of the year in the UK, 30 degrees celsius. I have given myself a kick up the backside and have signed myself up for a half a million steps over the next 3 months for Diabetes UK, hoping it's going to hep keep me…
  • Thanks all for your lovely supportive comments :) <3 Trying to keep that feeling in my head so I don't lose track of what I'm trying to achieve. Had a down day at work on Monday and my eating went out the window yesterday (burrito from the works canteen for dinner instead of my normal shake and chocolate in the afternoon),…

  • Hi all, Have almost lost my motivation, no pounds off at all yet this month 😔 but I'm trying to keep going. Been really hot here too (and I don't do heat) but trying to keep up with the workouts. June 8: 25 minute walk at dinner time June 9: 25 minute walk at dinner time June 10: 25 minute walk at dinner time June 11: 30…
  • Hi All, Today is my first day 'off shift' and after 3 lots of 12hrs sat at a desk and getting up early, I was shattered this morning. I thought about not doing any exercise today and having today as a rest day but I like my lazy Sundays! Luckily hubby exercises every week day so when he went off to the garage to do his…
  • Thanks but I actually got out at dinner so Sunday can be my rest day :D
  • Morning All, So my plan has gone out of the window today.....I'm at work :( and it's raining :'( which means I won't get my lunch time walk in. Not sure what to do. I'll be doing some Walking tomorrow on YouTube. Should I do my normal Thursday / Friday / Saturday and have a rest on Sunday or should I make up for today and…
  • Hi All, New to Walk at Home with Leslie as discovered by chatting with my sister in law. I'm normally a zumba kind-of-a-girl but I'm giving this a go for a change. I'm currently working a strange shift pattern so my aim is to do the workouts when I'm at home, with one rest day and then a 25 minute 'normal' walk at dinner…
  • Just approaching 39 and trying to convince myself 40 is not round the corner!!! Previously lost around 5 stone but a few stones have crept back on in the last 18 to 24 months! Been convincing myself everything is ok BUT had a wake up call this week from my nurse. Back on the wagon and approaching weight loss with a…
  • Just found this post and it's given me the motivation I need THANKYOU. I haven't read all 498 pages but the majority! Mine are: I'm working over-time this weekend from 06:30 to 14:30 both days. I brought a small breakfast in and a banana to have as a snack with a coffee and thought, I'll go and get something for breakfast…
  • Hi Hayley, Just to let you know that I weigh more than you and I have a 14.2 fell girl on loan and I have no problems. I'm near Lancaster and am on my second loan horse. A lot of my friends tell me that I don't look that I weigh as much as I do. Please don't despair and I have seen women far bigger than me ride as well.…
  • Got very angry the other day. Was coming home from a day out and passed another rider at my yard. She's pregnant BUT WEARING NO HAT out on the roads on a horse that hasn't been out of it's stable for 3 weeks!!! Some people! Anyway, I was reading an article the other day (sorry can't remember where) that says even if you…
  • I was listening to the developments last night and felt sick to the stomach. Luckily I don't buy ready made meals and any beef burgers I buy have been from a local butcher. I think it would really upset me if I had unknowingly eaten horse meat because of my love for the animals. Like ChocFiend I respect that it is part of…
  • I would never ride without putting my hat on....in fact I would never start tacking my horse up without my hat on. This harks back to my stable management lessons and then subsequently working for my local riding school where you had to have your hat on your head once you were on the yard NOT MATTER WHAT, especially when…
  • HI Guys, I'm back!!!!!! Taking one day at a time BUT here are my goals for January: -To track everday INCLUDING THE WEEEKENDS & be honest! -To ride every Sunday (weather permitting) and groom on a Saturday. -To lose 4 pounds - everytime I set massive goals I end up going backwards SO it's small baby steps from now on.
  • HI RG, I think you answered my question as I was thinking what it would add. The only thing I can think of is stuff like personal injury and claiming for wages if I ever have an accident. For the moment though, I think I'll keep things as they are as I know Shy's covered, which is more important in my opinion.
  • Finally watched the freestyle yesterday afternoon after a lovely long hack on Moo. It was ace, the hairs on my arms stood up for all 3 Team GB riders and I was in bits watching Charlotte as I knew she'd won. Uthopia's extended trot is AMAZING. It was all faboulous! Best Olympics ever for Team GB and topped off for me…

  • Cheers RG - I love her to bits and I think she looks well for 24!!!!!
  • Oops, that didn't work, let's try again! Drying after a bath in the sun Trying to look all pretty and good when carrots have been mentioned! Trying to look like she doesn't like Cally at all when really they're best friends!
  • Finally worked out how to do this, so thought I'd post a pic of my loan girl on here Looking all clean after a bath (when we had the sun a month or so ago!)
  • @grumpers, I remember Kimberwicke bits!! One of the old mares I learnt to ride on was ridden in one of those. Completely forgot that they existed!! I'm doing some more reading and research and then I'm going to speak to a friend at the yard and she what she thinks - she's also looking for a new bit for her cob x clydesdale…
  • Totally agree with the rest of you. There are days when I think "I can't be bothered to go down to the stables", then I kick myself and say it's a waste of money if you don't. Always feel better after going as well. Think it's all that fresh air! Must remember this next time I say I'm putting it off!!! Just wish the…
  • HI Guys, Thanks for the suggestions. As far as I am aware, her owner makes sure that her teeth are don regularly so I don't think it's got anything to do with that. I'm not sure which pressure she's avoiding but she defo puts her head in the air. @Whisperinghorse - she sounds a bit like your Dan - I can't do any schooling…
  • Cheer guys, I am sooo excited about the lesson. As I said to a friend the other day when we hacked out, sometimes I can't tell whether it's me or because Shy is a little fatty ATM and the saddle moves A LOT!
  • No I didn't.....time ran away with me last night! Ermmm, *looks guilty* I've just had a galaxy ripple and 2 fat free flumps so I don't think I can give advice about will power :( But like you RG would love some :)
