  • Agreed...I have a cheat day once a week so if there is something unhealthy that I've been craving or looking forward to, that's the day I get to eat it. If you've been good the rest of the week, one day won't completely ruin things. It makes me feel less deprived & helps me to practice self control. Getting some extra…
  • For me, it helps to switch up what I'm doing...try some new exercises or (healthy) foods. I get tired of the same thing day in & day out so variety can make a difference. Having support from other people is also extremely helpful, trying working out with a friend. Are you weighing yourself every day or just once a week? I…
  • Typically whenever I have a day where I have extra calories leftover, I'd rather have a beer than something sweet  I like trying new ones all the time...whatever sounds interesting. I like hefeweizens, ales, & ciders a lot. As far as favorite brands go Dogfish Head usually does not disappoint, Ommegang, Bells,…
  • Believe me, I was really embarrassed to talk with my doctor about it and was on the verge of tears! Fortunately, she was very sympathetic, understanding, & made me feel less apprehensive about it. Prior to this, I was not really wanting to take meds for it but eventually I just got to the point of desperation. Nothing else…
  • I'm 26...anyone on here feel free to add me if you're looking for more friends :) The holidays will soon be upon us but stay strong!
  • Yes, I was just thinking of this too! I had some blueberry oatmeal bar cookies (I'm pretty sure the recipe was from that cookbook) that had spinach in them & you would never know! Sneaky ways to get people to eat their veggies  Also I would suggest that you keep trying lots of different types of veggies til you find…
  • Something else that's easy are homemade egg McMuffins...basically an English muffin, egg, Canadian bacon, & cheese. I'm a fan of Canadian bacon as a breakfast meat since it's leaner than sausage or regular bacon. Also, check out the Hungry Girl site (http://www.hungry-girl.com/) for lots of great recipes & healthy eating…
  • It's been good to be able to read about different people's experiences with anxiety and/or depression, etc. and it makes me feel hopeful. It sounds like it's really different for everyone...some are in favor of meds while others prefer natural methods or a combination of things. I guess I will just have to keep trying…
  • Thanks! Today was my first day taking it & honestly I felt really horrible earlier, but now I'm doing better. I've been told I'll probably not quite feel like myself for the first week or so as my body gets used to the meds...probably won't reap the full benefits until I've been on it for a month or so. I'm going to follow…
  • That is good to hear that you've had a good experience with anti-anxiety/depression meds. I finally broke down & went to the doctor about my own anxiety troubles & am starting on Lexapro this week. I'm hopeful that it will help me, I hate who I am when my anxiety is in control, it makes me feel like I'm not really present…

  • Baked oatmeal is my current favorite thing, here is a good recipe that I've used before: http://www.simplyscratch.com/2011/11/baked-apple-cinnamon-oatmeal.html I've made it with apples & raisins, but berries sprinkled on top are really good too. It's delicious & easy
  • Great job, you look good! That gives me hope that my goal is within reach too  I'm 5'2'' and started out at 189...I don't have a specific goal weight but I'd be happy anywhere in the 130-ish range. I've had several people tell me they think it's unrealistic but you have proven otherwise! I realize it will probably…
  • Couch to 5k is awesome!!! I completed it this past summer and it worked really well for me. Before the program, I was never a runner and was also pretty out of shape, I couldn't run to save my life LOL. As long as I keep it up and run 3 days a week, I continue to consistently lose weight, which I think has also made it…
  • I'm trying to break out of my plateau right now as well. I had been consistently losing but since mid-August I haven't made any progress. If anything I've gained 2 lb which is frustrating since I was so close to hitting the 20 lb mark! A friend suggested changing things up if I've been keeping the same routine. I'm trying…
  • We all want what we can't have  I'm not crazy huge but I'm a weird enough size that not everywhere carries it. They get in the way & not to mention the under-boob sweat that makes me feel really gross when it's hot or I'm exercising. LOL :ohwell:
  • Same issue here LOL. I am a 40D but I wear a size smaller sports bra. It keeps everything nicely in place while running but I can't get it off without my husband's help...I call it the straight jacket
  • Nice! I'm running my first 5k at the end of October - Cincy Run Like Hell! Today I did my Strong Body Circuit 1 DVD and tomorrow will run 3 miles.
  • Good job, me too! Saturday is usually my "lazy day" but this evening I got in a good workout. And I'm still under my total calories for the day :)
  • Or if you are set on using tortillas, get smaller sized ones rather than the giant ones. That will also save on fat & calories.
  • This wouldn't be such a good idea for quesedillas, but you could try substituting lettuce leaves to make wraps with. Saves a ton on fat and calories and it tastes pretty good too! You can also use them in place of bread for a sandwich - use them to wrap up lunch meat in.
  • I've been on Nuvaring for 5 years now & no complaints! I like that I don't have to think about it much & it's easy to use.
  • Definitely a Moscato fan :) I'll drink a dry wine with steak or something like that but if I'm just drinking it by itself, the sweeter the better! Barefoot is good & I like their Sweet Red too.
  • I didn't think I had a problem until we were visiting family members who didn't even own a coffee pot - nooooo!!!! Fortunately there was a 711 not far away to satisfy the need
  • Mushrooms...I want to like them & I even give them a try every so often to see if my tastes have changed but I just can't do it. It's more the texture than the taste (whether cooked or fresh) that gets me. Something about those little gills creeps me out! Also all natural peanut butter, I don't like how runny it is. It's…
  • I've been struggling with motivation lately as well, I feel like I've hit a wall. For awhile I was consistently losing weight but for the past month I've made hardly any progress. It's frustrating! I need to get "back on the wagon". I work long hours too (45 hours +/- per week) with a long commute too. Most of the time I…
  • Glucosamine is awesome, my mom has been taking it for years & it's really helped with her arthritis. Her knees hardly ever bother her anymore.
  • Love the Couch to 5k plan, it is perfect for non-athletes (like myself). I'm into week 2 and so far so good. I will say I find it helpful to have a workout buddy, it makes it a lot more tolerable than just going by yourself. http://www.coolrunning.com/engine/2/2_3/181.shtml
  • I have a friend at work who makes lettuce wraps with lunch meat, I've tried it before & it's actually pretty good. She said she's pretty much given up bread at this point since she likes the lettuce wraps. Definitely an easy way to cut calories.
