  • :flowerforyou: Hi fifty! I'm with you! My slogan is 55 and Fit! I just turned 55 in April. I also tend to do well at the start, lose about 10 or 15 lbs, then get off track.:embarassed: I need to lose about 70 lbs. myself. I didn't put it on overnight and don't expect to lose it that fast either, but can use all the…
  • I like celery with peanut butter on it. Also love brussel sprouts. I buy the frozen and just cook them till tender in a little water and season with a little butter and salt. Chinese cabbage, Napa, and Bok Choy are great in a veggie saute with a little butter and soy sauce or try one of them sauteed with tofu or cooked…
  • Thank You friends for all the advise and information on this! You've really encouraged me and lessened my fears of what I'll be like in my 'after' state. I guess I can live with some loose skin if it doesn't tone up all the way. At my age, I'm sure my skin isn't as elastic as it use to be, but who knows? Maybe I'll get…
  • Thanks for your help. Keep the ideas coming.
  • I was on Paxil years ago and gain quite a bit of weight in spite of exercising regularly. I have been on Celexa for a few years now and have had no unusual weight gain. I think it depends on the particular medication and the individual. Just don't give up! Keep exercising and watching your calorie intake and I'm sure you…
  • I'm sure this has been asked before, but I couldn't find it when I searched, so please help. I have lost 15 lbs and need to loose about 65 more, but I don't want the loose skin thing. I know crunches are supposed to be good for tightening, but how many do I need to working up to? Also are there other good upper and lower…

  • Welcome! This is the best place to do it! Lots of help and encouragement here! :flowerforyou: You can do it. I'm 55 years old and I have Menier's Syndrome (severe vertigo, weakness, tinitus) which hits me without warning and I have to work myself back up in strength afterwards, but it is possible! I've lost 15 lbs…
  • I pledge to lose at least 5 lbs in the next 5 weeks. (187 lbs. on May 15th) I pledge to exercise at least 30 minutes, 6 days a week regardless of how tired I am or how sweaty I get. I pledge to set another goal when I've reached this one so I can throw out those size 20 clothes forever!! I pledge to make daily exercise…
  • Woo Hoo!:drinker: :flowerforyou: Congratulations!!! Fourty lbs. is awesome!:drinker: :drinker: You're doing great. Keep up the good progress!:flowerforyou:
  • I walk in place and do mini leg lifts (front, side and back) when standing in line. And I don't care if it does look silly. I also practice tightening and holding abdominals while driving, standing in line or sitting at the computer. Also, various Isometric stretch and holds while sitting anywhere. Good for toning! Last,…
  • For snacks, I like braided pretzel twists, celery with peanut butter, a small apple or orange. For lunch I'll have a veggie sandwich, soup, or leftovers from last nights supper.
  • Hi and Welcome! This is the place to do it! Lots of friends and support. Good luck to you on your goals

  • Staying away from the fast food places really does help. (I do find a veggie or turkey 6" sub from Subways good for when I'm out.) I usually just have Cheerios for breakfast. For lunch, a sandwich with lots of lettuce, or a salad, or soup with lots of vegetables. It's really easy to make your own soup using a crock pot!…
  • Awesome!! Go You!!:flowerforyou: Keep up the great work. You're doing fantastic!:drinker:
  • Woo Hoo!! You go girl!!:flowerforyou:
  • Excellant Idea! Thanks for sharing
  • I weigh myself every morning, before I eat, just to make sure I haven't overdone it. That way I can get myself back on track right away. I've only started doing this while I've been losing. When I get back down to a sensible size I'll probably go to once or twice a month.
  • Yummm! I like mine on a good whole grain bread with bread and butter pickles. Now I'm going to have to go and make some.

  • I like to make frozen bananas. Take a medium banana and cut it in half. Stick a popcicle stick in each half on the cut side. Spread about 1 Tbls of peanut butter on the outside of the banana. Roll the whole thing in chopped nuts or sesame seeds or your favorite low cal granola. Lay them on a cookie sheet and freeze them.…
  • Thanks What you had actually sounds like Menier's. I am now deaf in one ear also. I just got a really severe case of it.:grumble: I still get the spins:sick: and my balance is always a problem so I use a walker:embarassed: when I go out for exercise. It really helps with the balance and I can go longer. I had to get over…
  • Anybody else dealing with Menier's Syndrome while trying to lose? I'll be going along like a house afire when I get hit with a bad spell of vertigo, nausea and weakness that knocks me flat for days (or more) and I have to get my strength and motivation going all over again. Just got over a spell that set me back for about…
  • Welcome! This is a great place to get encouragement, friends, and even recipes.
  • Don't give up now. This is when you need it the most. Trust me, I've been exactly where you are and you'll be glad you stuck with it in the end. It's a hard time right now with many demands on you, but don't make the mistake of thinking of your exercising & healthy eating as a chore. More than anything right now, you need…
  • Welcome! You can do it! There is lots of support here.
