  • Recently discovered the Pita Pit. Nutrition info on-line. Most choices 400-525 calories. Watch the sauces and cheese. Also watch the protein. I was eating hummus pitas a lot and later discovered they have zero protein. Meat pitas have much more protein and OK calories.
  • I weigh every morning before breakfast, but record only on Mondays, figuring it's the highest, and most honest. If I don't like Monday's number I allow myself to record every day that week, just to make me feel better those subsequent weekdays when I tend to do better. • Panera's website has a great calorie counting nutrition tool for their menu. For example, you can look up a particular salad and it will give you the breakdown of all ingredients and you can take those off if you don't eat them. I was glad to have checked on Panera calories --I have a thing for their bear claws --540…
  • I wanted a noticable difference in my outer thighs (saddle bags) within a few weeks; I looked up the best way and saw leg raises as the concensus. Lay on side straight; bottom leg bent, and lift upper leg, then lower it slowly (look up leg raises on google for pics on good form which is important). I did 3 sets of 15 on…

Zumba 1 hour Thurs: 30 minute step aerobics - 20 minute DA tape arms and bust Friday - rest Saturday: Pilates type ABZ class 30…
  • I'm 48, so clearly on the wrong side of the gate, but I lost 50 lbs in 2010 (before I knew about MFP); no pills, no gym, no support, so I know a bit about how tough it is and the mindset. I was keen to make it a personal thing I did on my own and not to burden my husband and kids with it. It took about 10 months. I crafted…
  • I agree with Sublimely. And the calorie numbers could be generous. The problem is that there is such a huge disparity in intensity depending on the Zumba instructor.
  • Yep. i was battling a sinus infection this week and felt good enough to work out (Zumba) but not much appetite. Went a couple days with a 400 cal deficit and MFP scolded me for going into "starvation mode". Nobody ever accused me of that before.... Just added a couple of small snacks throughout the day and I was able to…
  • And I should also mention I've got a new habit of a splurge on Saturdays --a junior whopper with cheese and everything --like 390 calories. But I eat it after a rigorous exercise class and it keeps me full (or almost full) till dinner.
  • Maybe not exactly what you were looking for; but I've done really well with Panera Bread's signature salads for dinner. They're 540-580 calories, but filling and a nice amount of protein. By the time dinner rolls around, that's about all the calories I have remaining....
  • Hi Robin, I'm 48, with 22 to lose. Seems to be I go down 3, then up 2, then down 1, and so on. Can I blame hormones? Anyway, nice to meet someone my age with a similar road ahead!
