  • My naturopathic doctor has been telling me this for years...so far I've found it to be true. Every time I lose weight I usually go through periods of sickness every time I break through a plateau. I also can feel the hormonal shift when I lose weight too. :)
  • Mine came early my first month but seems to have normalized now, although it is heavier than it used to be, which I think is a good sign of improvement in my health compared to where I was before.

  • This is exactly why I feel torn about this subject. I'm only 6 pounds down right now so it isn't an issue. But a few years ago when I lost weight I was depressed because none of my co-workers said anything to me. Then, when I was down almost 50 pounds, people finally started commenting. When my boss said something to…
  • I'm so sorry. :( I hope the treatment goes well for him.
  • Just wanted to add that I CANNOT take Valerian during the day, unless I am under extreme stress! Otherwise I get much too sleepy. I must take it before bed. But for some reason if I am going through a really stressful day (or two) I burn right through it and it doesn't make me sleepy at all. But there is a need for caution…

  • I'm a naturally high stress person too. I love Valerian. (I don't take it every night though.) When I get a knot in the muscles in my neck or back from being stressed out I find it helps with relaxing the knots. I've taken both the liquid and the capsules. Maybe I should take it every night. I will have to see if it has…

  • I wish there was a 'like' button for that picture - looks so good!
  • One thing that helps is to imagine where you might be in one year if you keep doing this...and imagine where you might be in one year if you stop doing this. I find that thinking in terms of the big picture seems to calm me down and give me the motivation to continue when I'm discouraged.
  • This is such a great, thread! So inspiring. I'm on my 3rd week of low carb eating so this is just what I need to keep me motivated. Not much to report yet on the scale since I didn't weigh myself until two weeks in, but I hope to have losses to report soon. :)
  • This is awesome! I did a hike almost like this in Utah on vacation in 2005...I would love to do it again!
  • That sounds great! I might have to try that on one of my lower carb days to make sure I can work it in. :)
  • I believe they are called Carb Smart...by Breyers I think?
  • I just wanted to thank you for the laugh. I literally laughed out loud.
  • I hope today was a better day for you. Sorry that happened. :(
  • It seems like you've found the answer, so that's good. Hope they go away soon! Just to add my experience, both times in my life when I have lost a great deal of weight (30-40 pounds) in a relatively short amount of time, I got hives for a week or two on my neck and chest. I went to several doctors and there was no obvious…

  • This is a great thread. I was looking around for a "success stories" thread specifically for low carb way of eating, this is very encouraging. :)

  • I think we already are friends - I think I added you a day or two ago.
  • You are doing so well. :) I'm another Angela and we've been doing this nearly the same amount of time. This is day 13 for me.
  • Thank you thank you thank you for posting both of those videos. They are great. Made so much sense to me, this seems to describe what happens to me when I am not eating low carb. This helps motivate me to stay the course with low carb. :)
  • I sent a request as well. :)
  • This is pretty much what I was referring to in my posts. I felt like this a lot in the past, sometimes I still do, but I'm working on it. I think a key for me is learning how to forgive myself and get right back to doing what I need to be doing to take care of my health. :) Thanks for the book recommendation. I'm a reader…
  • Thanks for the input. I'm sorry if it sounded like I was using an excuse. That wasn't my intent. I was trying to show the OP that she was not alone in wondering why she could have so much going for her and still struggle with food/weight. I've wondered the same thing in the past. I've lost lots of weight but I've never…
  • I'm not an expert but I would guess the antibiotics might have a little something to do with it, at least. It could also be a normal weight loss stall but any medicinal changes take the body some time to adjust to. You could try taking a probiotic (if you aren't already) to add back any good bacteria that the antibiotic…
  • I wish I had found a thread like this last autumn! I did very low carb from August to October before sadly falling off the wagon for six months. My first period during low carb came a week early and I thought I was losing my mind, since I've always been super regular. It was also heavier than normal. The second and third…
  • Shai74, I can relate to much of what you are saying. I think a large part of my problem is I'm a perfectionist. For example I look in the mirror and expect myself to look like I did when I was 20 and feel like I'm a failure because I've gained a lot of weight (and aged a bit) since then. Instead of focusing on the good…
  • Your after photo looks great! I actually really like the outfit - I wear layering pieces like that all the time. :) Great job! Also very inspiring, I'm trying to get back into low carb/keto again. This is the end of day 4 for me, so this is just the motivation I need right now.
  • Congratulations, that's amazing progress!
  • Amazing loss! My goal is 100 pounds lost too, but I suspect that when I reach that I will want to lose a bit more. It's nice to see someone who has already done it. :)
  • Yes, I love eggs too. I feel good when I eat them - the protein and fat really keeps me full and works well whether I'm trying to eat low carb or not. I actually did one of those blood tests a few years back where they test your blood and tell you what foods are best for you personally. I'm not sure how accurate it is of…
  • I second (third? fourth?) the comment about thrift shops. I like to get rid of my clothes as soon as they get too big, the nicer ones I sell on eBay, and the rest I donate or throw away. That gives me a little money towards new clothes. Shopping at thrift stores I can sometimes score a really expensive pair of designer…
