  • I've been in maintenance for a year and it's been a bit of a roller coaster :) But, I'm trying something that I think will help me. I weigh myself each morning and record in my Libra app. I set my "goal weight" at my max maintenance weight (for me, that's 145). Because Libra shows you when you're expected to hit that based…
  • I know this feeling so well! I need some external accountability to get me back on track. I tell a few people or post about it on here and pre-log my food a few days out. Take time for you when you can to try to reduce your stress.
  • 1. Drop the ten pounds I've gained through lazy maintenance tracking 2. Get my ab definition back 3. Do a pull up/improve shoulder mobility 4. Outlast the fittest gal at my gym more often than not 😂 5. Lower my resting heart rate from low 70s to low 60s
  • Not only did I eat what I wanted over Christmas, I also skipped my normal gym routine in favor of walks with my family. I needed this break to get my head back into the game. It's been a hard year and it is nice to give in to the comfort of it all for a bit. Of course, going back to the gym next week will feel awful, but I…
  • Can I ask a really embarrassing question - how did you calculate the daily deficit?
  • I really need to do this math! Thanks for the post 😊
  • @cwolfman13 yes, it was on the high end. I weigh 145.
  • Yep. I indulge a bit (I love to bake!), but try to keep within my weekly numbers. I agree with the others, though, tea is the best for this!
  • This is what consignment/thrift shopping is for! I don't like to spend a lot on clothes and even in maintenance, my shape is changing due to recomping. I bought new clothes at Goodwill each time I dropped a size - it was a good motivator.
  • Recomping, with a very relaxed range for maintenance :) (5 lbs either way, but usually up)
  • This is my goal balance. I've been maintaining for about a year, but have not found the right calorie deficit during the week yet.
  • I'm loving this thread. I've been "in maintenance" (aka nearish my goal) for a year and after a vacation and job change this summer, I've been treating myself daily and I'm no good at moderation so the treats are huge. I'm trying to be more aware of what I am eating and why - seems like when I was losing, it was almost…
  • I'm a very casual lifter (I'm just here for the health benefits and to avoid jelloarms), but I'm considering it. I am a lazy logger but dedicated to my workouts. Following to see if anyone has good advice on this.
  • Jerky! That and olives are my go to snacks/meals when out and about.
  • @hmkiesel That's where I am, too. 5'7 and 140. I was in a very ugly gain/loose/gain cycle with having two kids and just last year lost 35 to get back to 140. Over that year, I've been recomping (I actually tried bulking and cutting, but found it wasn't for me) and now I am fitting into clothes that were snug when I was at…
  • I came to suggest Yogalcious, too. You can get them on Amazon. Avoid Old Navy! I thought those were good until I realized they were 100% not good at all. (Sorry, gym mates)
  • I use just balsamic vinegar. There is a high end vinegar store (I know!) near my home and it has lots of different types. Cinnamon pear is one of my faves with goat cheese, watermelon and spinach salads.
  • Hi, I'm going to join to keep me accountable as I travel this month. Question: Is it nuts to pack a scale to travel with? I'll be gone 2.5 weeks driving through one of my favorite food regions, so the potential damage is not small :) Original starting weight - 175 July starting weight - 147.2 (after a sodium-heavy weekend)…
  • This was my first cut after a bulk and it was not easy. More accurately, it didn't happen. I never hit goal weight - I gained 14 and wanted to drop 8. I lost about 5 and found summer indulgences like a cocktail on the patio at sunset or slushies with my kids are too good to worry about the last three pounds. Guess I was…
  • I tend to stop logging because generally days I go over are busy/social/family-centered days without a lot of phone or screen time. I weigh myself everyday, though and tend to gauge where I'm at and when I need to reign it in based on that.
  • I blend a cup of ice in my Ninja then add in a half cup of unsweetened vanilla almond milk and a scoop of protein powder and blend again. It is pretty good. I actually prefer just dumping protein powder and PBFit into Greek yogurt, though. The texture is better, even though it isn't as cold.
  • YES! I eat within (ish) my calories for bulking or cutting, but tend to ignore macros for weeks at a time. I am in the gym five days a week, though and it shows. Could I tweak my diet and perfect my physique? Yes. Does that appeal to me right now? Nope. Am I maintaining healthy stats and numbers (BP, BMI, etc)? You bet.…
  • This is my first cut (after a bulk anyway, I've lost weight before but not with the goal of seeing newly added muscles!) and I'm not loving it. I've been lazy about sticking to my nutrition and also switched from slowly adding weight via pyramid sets to doing straight sets on my bench press, squats and deadlifts. I've…
  • I just found this thread last week and have been chowing through cucumbers, tomatoes, watermelon and cabbage like it is my job. My lunch salads are so big it now takes me 45 minutes of constant eating to finish it all, whereas in my nutrient-dense/keto days lunch would maybe last five minutes. Thanks for posting so many…
  • Following for advice....I've been lifting for just a year and have been doing ascending sets to failure each time. My program runs through 12 weeks, starting with 12 reps and ending with a 1RM. I do feel like based on my 5RM numbers, I should be able to do higher 1RM, but maybe that's because I'm lifting at 80% then 90%…
  • I recently finished my first bulk (gained 8 lbs from November - early April) and am going to start cutting now. I meant to start earlier, but a stomach flu accidentally got me to my goal weight last week, so I've been just trying to heal since then. Before this bulk, I'd only ever tried loosing weight and lost about 30 lbs…
  • This happens to me when I travel for work sometimes. We are required to choose certain restaurants to have meals reimbursed. I figure if nothing sounds great, it makes it easy for me to pick something that is at least going to be spot on for my macros. Restaurants where everything sounds amazing make it easy for me to…
  • What are you eating for protein? If you choose something like a chicken breast or protein powder, it won't have much else. But, when losing weight is your focus, I'd worry more about finding what keeps you satisfied and at a deficit before worrying about macros.
  • The thing I liked about keto when I tried it was that it was easy to make my dinner similar enough to my kids but still keto. I'd make them pasta and chicken and give myself roasted cauliflower with marinara and chicken, for example. I feed my kids a well-rounded diet, similar to these recommendations:…
