No, you are never too big. I started exercising at 380lb. I took up running (and ran a 5K at 330lb), spin classes, group classes at my gym, the stairmaster, swimming...you are never too big. The mental aspect and lack of confidence may make you feel like you can't do it, but YOU CAN. Just get up and go.

The two things I keep hearing over and over from everyone is that lower carbs and cutting out gluten are the way to go. Surprised my doctor didn't recommend this, but I'll definitely be trying to limit both--carbs are my supreme weakness, so it will definitely be a challenge!

I'm really hoping this "reaction" is everything just kind of working itself out to normal levels....otherwise, yikes!

I got a pretty basic (but awesome!) Polar FT4. It's pink, which I love, and is MUCH more accurate than MFP in measuring calories. The only thing it doesn't do that I wish it did is track distance. But there are obviously other ways to measure that. I really just wanted a basic, reliable calorie counter and HRM to tell me…

I've never shared my number with anyone, but... I started at 380. I'm at 324 now. I can't believe I just typed that :) Feel free to add me!

Two really stick out: 1. Went to my cousin's swanky wedding, and sat down (as I usually do) on the edge of the rickety wood slat chairs. Yep, that chair broke, I fell to the ground, and as the sound echoed through the giant marble library, everyone turned to gasp and stare. 2. On a flight for work, I was booked in the…

I'm from MN--MSP area. I do have a gym membership for the winter months, but I also have a mini-home gym and do dvd's at home. I also try to get outside running/walking as much as possible during the winter (esp. when we have a snowless winter like last year!)

I've got a great recipe for lemon sauce on my blog: http://mandakaymakesit.wordpress.com/recipes-2/ I make this, grill up a chicken breast with a sprinkle of Mrs. Dash, steam some quinoa or brown rice, mix it all together and DEVOUR :) So. Good.

Bump for more responses Love the edamame idea--didn't even think of it! And I am trying to get more veggies in--I can't stand most of them (surprise!). I'm a huge fan of greek yogurt, apples, etc...what else y'all got? :)

I've got a great and simple recipe for a pasta dish that's a bit different and SO delicious on my blog: http://mandakaymakesit.wordpress.com/2012/06/04/summer-on-a-plate/

My two biggest pet peeves right here: talking on your phone and girls who show up dressed like they're going out instead of sweating it up at the gym. Leaving the makeup and totally done up hair at home. There's no need for it here.

I had a bunch of NSV's this weekend and bravely blogged about them...some of them are quite personal: http://mandakaymakesit.wordpress.com/2012/07/09/the-weekend-in-numbers/

Any of you that use the Polar FT4 in the pool...have you had to replace your battery yet? I heard from several people that once you replace the battery, it's no longer waterproof. Any truth to that?
-
I also got the Polar FT4 and also got it cheaper through Amazon. Haven't had it long, but loving it so far. I have heard, though, that once you get the battery replaced in the watch, that it's no longer water resistant.

Champion. Seriously. I've always hated sports bras, but these are so comfy, don't pinch and pull, and have great support. Target has a few variations of them which I seriously love. The ones I buy are usually $12.99...so you can't beat that :)

I'm going through the same thing right now--really trying to get my sodium down. Bob Harper recommends 2,000mg/day (just below FDA recommendations). Here's what I'd recommend: -Water. Lots of water always. -Page through your diary and look for the higher sodium foods you're eating. Then eliminate them from your diet or cut…

Thanks everyone! I've made an appt. with my dr. for early next week, so hopefully I'll have a solution and something to share with you all then!

OMG get Bob Harper's kettlebell cardio shred...not sure of the exact name, but just google it. He sells it through his website for $5 and I got mine at Target for a similar price. It combines awesome kettlebell moves with crazy cardio moves-you'll be dying (in the best possible way) by the end of it. Brutal! :)

This isn't meant to be self-promotional, but I do have a great and super simple zucchini recipe on my blog: http://mandakaymakesit.wordpress.com/2012/06/04/summer-on-a-plate/ Zucchini bread or muffins, shaving it and using it as noodles, roasting it off with some veg, making kabobs, etc. It's such a versatile and delicious…
