  • I have been off MFP pretty much since the baby came and have slowly been gaining weight. I was mortified to step on the scale the other day and see what my weight has climbed to. Now I'm back and going to find the old motivation I had before so that I continue to log and watch my eating.
  • I couldn't agree more - there are a lot of cheap healthy food out there but, if you don't know how to prepare it, or your family won't eat it you're wasting your money.
  • I also got a $20 small digital scale from Walmart. Works great, doesn't take up much space, measures in grams, ounces and lbs. Really easy to use. One of the best investments I've made when it comes to eating and weight loss.
  • I use both skim and almond milk. I use almond milk on my cereal, on oatmeal, in my smoothies and pancake batter and often in baking. I like skim milk when I'm making foods I don't think almond milk would taste good in - soups, sauces, biscuits (depending what we're eating them with), etc. If you like almonds then you'll…
  • I'm due with my 4th child in October. I'm overweight and trying to not gain anything with this pregnancy but so far have not been successful. I struggle with nausea all day and eating is the only way to keep it under control. I’m trying to make healthy choices but I struggle with that when I’m not pregnant. I’m still…
  • With both of my last pregnancies I was overweight by quite a bit and my doctor told me it was fine if I lost weight as long as I wasn't trying to - meaning as long as was eating properly (I had to keep a food journal for her) then she was fine with it. She didn't want me to gain weight if possible. But I agree with…
  • Our children seem close in age - my youngest are 3 3/4 & 2 - due Oct 10 with number 4. M/S is horrible for me normally and this pregnancy is proving to be no exception. I am considered a high risk pregnancy but we had an ultrasound already and all looks fine so far.
  • We make it into coleslaw, cabbage roll casserole, put it in stir-fry, add it to soups or salads, fry it up with other veggies and add hamburger and rice... so many things you can do with it...
  • Or you live in a country/area that doesn't require you to sign anything... I actually never thought of it as rude or intrusive to ask or be asked about the flu shot. But, I've never had anyone question my choice and I've never questioned another person’s choice to get or not get the shot.
  • I make sure I eat at least 1200 calories each day - if I'm not close (rarely happens) and I'm not hungry I'll let myself have a higher calorie treat that I wouldn't normally eat. I would also make sure I ate something small for supper even if I wasn't hungry because otherwise I may snack later on or be famished in the…
  • I also hope you're kidding - or not logging. If this is actually what you are eating you have a lot more serious issues than being 'chubby' (which I highly doubt since you are 5'7 and 140lbs.)
  • I don't know what it is, but I would start taking probiotics every day if it was happening to me...
  • Go for it - just find a class that will work with you for anything you may not yet be able to do. I took yoga when I had over 100lbs to lose and found it was great. Sure, it was hard at first, but I modified some moves and it slowly got easier. I found I was able to do more and more with every class. A tip though: not all…
  • I have never heard of eating oatmeal with anything besides milk and brown sugar until I joined MFP. I haven't been brave enough to do much else except we like to add chopped apple, raisins and cinnamon to the pot while it's cooking. We don't do instant oatmeal any more - quick oats are just as convenient as oatmeal…
  • I would do two things. One, I would talk to my child's doctor if she hasn't been for a checkup lately to ensure that her growth is on par with how she's been going since birth. If her doctor is concerned then I think there may be something to this. But, from your stats she doesn't seem like she's too heavy to me. My 3 year…
  • Mine does this as well but can show a difference of even 5-6 pounds (always up, never down). I get on and off until I get the same number three times.
  • Wow - if you say this stuff to his face I think you BOTH have serious issues on the proper way to treat a partner.
  • I agree with this and think the two of you need to figure out the real issues or there will likely be divorce in your future. Considering you have young children it is a must that both of you find a way to work together rather than pull apart. I'm sure he has not been very fun to live with but I doubt that your 'I don't…
  • Not exactly true - other animals will nurse from a different species if they are left motherless.... I drink almond milk because it's less calories than regular milk. I used to drink soy milk for that reason but now it's something I try to avoid since such a large number of soy crops are GMO.
  • We make cottage cheese salad: mix in cut up cucumber, a little light mayo (or yogurt) and Mrs. Dash and it's done! So easy and so good.
  • I'm going to try this!
  • I don't log the calories because I have no idea how many I'm burning since it depends on how often they nurse. I'm nursing two children (I'm NAKing right now asw a matter of fact) but would hate to find out I say I'm burning a set amount and then discover I'm burning less. I just try to make sur I eat close to my max…
