  • When I have to pack lunches for work, I make a big pot of soup/stew/currie/chili and then portion it out into lunch containers so they're quick to grab and go in the mornings. This is especially quick if you have an Instant Pot. If you have the freezer space, I find each week has extras so I freeze them and then have a…
  • Avocado toast, cheese/meat/crackers, nuts/seeds, buttered/sugary popcorn, If you’re just looking to boost calories you could add a little extra butter or oil when cooking. Or sugar and fats to sauces. Creamy sauces will be higher calorie than tomato based sauces. Bread products can also hide high calories (especially…
  • I know seeking professional help is challenging, but it really is your best option. More information would help us determine if we know of any resources that would help you. Many areas have subsidized or sliding scale therapists and dieticians/nutritionists. You could also look into support groups, these are often free and…
  • You can do it! 2022 will be a great and healthy year!
  • Thanks Cheiflrg! I had actually forgotten about resistance training! All of my research has talked about body weight strength training and biking. Do you know of any specific resources, routines, or bands that would be good? I had considered buying resistance bands for traveling but there are so many to choose from! And I…
  • Thank you MikePfirrman! I'm sorry you had to go through so much! I've done some research and read about the microfractures, I intend to talk to my doctor about it or other treatments next time I see her. I have started taking a supplment compound for osteoarthritis that includes some of the supplements you mentioned. With…
  • Thank you sijomial! It's comforting to know there is hope! Everything I've read makes it sound like cartilage damage is unfixable. My doctor did tell me absolutely no running (my asthma doesn't mind that!) but that I was ok to continue hiking. I don't have a car so I walk almost everywhere, but I can definitely make a…
  • Original starting weight: 191lb August starting weight: 186lb (I think? I don't have regular access to a scale...) August goal: 179lb Ultimate goal: 130lb August 20: 182lb Down 4lb so far this month!! 😁
  • I was diagnosed with asthma at 2 ... apparently, that was the earliest they would make a diagnosis even though I was in the hospital very regularly with breathing problems since birth. I have pretty much every trigger - allergies, foods, exercise. In Canada, they would require a lung function test to make an asthma…
  • Horribly healthy cracked me up and actually made me laugh out loud! Thank you for that! :D Congratulations on your wedding and on having to resize your dress!
  • You're probably best to talk to a doctor or nutritionist about cholesterol management through diet. However, I've been told that increasing fiber consumption can help with cholesterol. And a vegan diet is, by definition, cholesterol free so that may be something to keep in mind. Have you tried researching it? The first…
  • Hi! I've been on and off MFP for years, but I really need to stick to it and actually lose the weight this time. I just returned from a 6 month backpacking trip in New Zealand that was great but it was very eye opening about how much my weight impacts things like hiking and kayaking. I would love to have active MFP friends…
  • Personally, I avoid any sports bra with a generic size (S, M, L etc) like the plague. Our bodies are so different there is no way something so basic is properly supportive and reliable when doing anything active. Unless you happen to be built the same way as the manufacturer's model was... My sports bra requirements…
  • Yesterday my sister and I went out of town to do a 8km hike by one of the local lakes. It feels so good to have taken a break from everything and gotten out into nature again! I’m listening to the audio book The Nature Fix by Florence Williams right now. I highly recommend it and a good walk in a park if anyone is feeling…
  • @HatherM Thanks for the great review! I’m excited to start using it! Maybe that’ll be my self-care for today!
  • Hiking/walking 😍 My sister and I love to get out of town for an afternoon and walk the trails around the lakes or in the national park. Yesterday we saw multiple frogs, a snake, and squirrels. Last time we went to the national park and saw buffalo!
  • All of the bras I’ve seen have a little opening on the sides so the padding insert can be taken out. Doesn’t yours have this? What country are you in? I’m a DD (or DDD or E 🙄) and have found the best bras at Lululemon, and Sportchek. Sportchek carries all of the regular sports gear here (from running to mountain climbing)…
  • I got the app today and entered yesterday’s hike. I have just left Tookland! This is great timing! My sister and I were watching LOTR and The Hoobit bloopers last night! 😋
  • @HatherM I just got the Headspace app but haven’t used it yet! Has it been useful for you? Are there any specific sessions you’d recommend?
  • I'll be 32 soon and though I think losing was easier a decade ago I don't think its THAT much harder. I think my biggest struggle now is fitting in the time and energy to focus on my health while dealing with so much more stress in my life...
  • I'm in! My life is all over the place right now, so a self-care reminder sounds great! And I'm going to kick it off today with the two TEDtalks I just watched about delaying/preventing Alzheimers! They were quite interesting if anyone else wants to check them out:…
  • I'm in! I've never done a challenge like this but maybe it will help keep me on track! Original starting weight: 190lb August starting weight: 186lb (I think? I don't have regular access to a scale...) August goal: 179lb Ultimate goal: 130lb
  • That's so true! Though I have seen a good amount of Canada, I have definitely seen more of New Zealand! :D
  • Yoga is great! And there are always options to make it more challenging as you progress: different types of yoga, holding poses longer, using props to get better stretches, more challenging poses, etc. You could also consider working some pilates or other bodyweight exercises into your routine too!
  • Congrats! I love long walks like that!
  • I carry around a 32oz water bottle and drink 1.5-2 bottles a day so... 48-64oz per day. On really hot and dry days I drink up to 3 bottles (96oz). I started with the goal of a minimum of a bottle per day because I used to be really bad for not drinking anything. But now its just habit and those are the numbers I average.…
  • My sister just introduced me to mixing maple syrup and peanut butter and then dipping pretzels in it. Crunchy, creamy, sweet, and salty! I was blown away!
  • I'm not from New Zealand. But I did a 6 month roadtrip around New Zealand this year and am still blown away by how beautiful your country is! I think Milford Sound may be one of the most beautiful places I've ever seen! I can't wait to visit again! I hope you get out and enjoy the country as often as possible! <3
  • I'll be 32 next month and am loving it. Though I don't really feel much different than I did at 25 except I'll admit the all-nighters and crappy food in college were easier at 25-29. I'm so much more aware of what I can do and how to do it now! I spent 6 months this year roadtripping New Zealand and am planning my next big…
