  • This is awesome. Congratulations!! I bet you feel great!
  • I never take mine at the same time every day - it all depends when I get up. I try to take it at least 30 minutes before eating (sometimes I've also taken it a night) but sometimes I eat breakfast straight away if I'm REALLY hungry. When I take it never seems to have affected my blood test results. I think the most…
  • I have both and I'm based in the UK. I treat PCOS with Yasmin, the birth control pill. It's the best thing I've found to keep the symptoms in check. But to be fair, I've never suffered hugely with PCOS symptoms, other than really irregular, heavy periods and acne (Yasmin REALLY helps with this too, my skin is completely…
  • I work from home three days a week and used to do five. I found it was crucial for me to have a walk or something before I started work. I'd also try and be strict and go out at lunch time. It's hard, but the advantage of working from home / working for yourself is you can set your own routine. The hardest thing is…
  • Yes! It's one of my big goals too. Always thought it would make me feel really powerful! At the moment I can just about do one with most of my weight supported on the assisted pull-up machine at the gym
  • I've been logging for 48 days! Granted, they've mostly been all over the place as I focus on getting used to a weight loss routine, but this is more days than I've ever clocked up before. Excited to get to 100 now!
  • I'm looking for friends too, so please add me!
  • Gin and slimline tonic is great, as is vodka, lime and soda (also you can switch to just a soda and lime and no one will be able to tell!). The other thing I find REALLY useful is to plan my food for that day, and the amount of drinks I'm going to have. I try to make sure I've eaten something at home that I know the…
  • Hello! I'm looking for some new thyroid friends! I'm UK based but happy to have friends from anywhere. Ideally I want people who use myfitnesspal regularly and have their diaries open for friends as I find this the most useful and motivating. Thanks! :drinker:
  • Hypothyroid and anaemic here - seems to be quite common. Think there was a thread about it in the hypo group on here a while ago. Get the doc to check your B12 as well as iron because mine is actually B12 related anaemia not really iron. Made me feel more tired than when my thyroid went wrong (crazy I know!).…
  • Thanks for the tips! I think I might take a photo of everything I eat so I can spend time working it out as best I can when I get home. :-)
  • YUM! Thanks for the suggestions everyone!
  • @_HeartsOnFire That's just the number I've allocated for snacks. Could be under though!
  • I'm 5'2 but only in my first week - hope to be writing here soon enough with some success though! Just wanted to jump in to say - remember BMR is the absolute bare minimum that your body would need to stay alive and maintain weight if you were basically in a coma. Your TDEE is what you should focus on - and this is the…
  • Did you sync your fitbit with myfitnesspal then? Out of interest, what did you set your calories too before any exercise adjustments? I've avoided syncing mine yet. I worked out what I ate over a month to keep my current weight stable and have just minused 10%. I use fitbit to check I am burning my TDEE and myfitnesspal to…
  • I'm using a fitbit flex and I love it! Really helpful to see what you actually burn. So far it all seems really accurate, which would suggest that the TDEE method for weight loss will work for us too. Although I will just add that I'm quite lucky as my levels stay pretty stable. I'm not sure of the case for someone who's…
  • I used to be at an NHS walk-in/GP surgery in Brighton and they always included T3 in the usual thyroid test - but since coming to London no one seems to do it? I'm going to push for a t3 test next time I have mine done...we'll see. I'm not hopeful!
  • Wow! You look great! :drinker: Can I ask how long it took and how many calories you stuck too? Oh and what kind of exercise did you do etc?
  • Thanks! I'm both unlucky and lucky being short - every pound on shows, but so does every pound off! Must get my act into gear and lose the next six now.
  • This is the first time I've posted a photo - so I hope it works. This is the difference of about two-ish months (Jan-Mar) 6 pounds and healthy eating and walking. I honestly didn't even properly diet during this time. HOWEVER, I am a bit stuck here now. I'm 5 foot 2 and weight 10 stone 12 and I'm medium-large build. I've…
  • This was all really useful. The 30 day tracking thing makes total sense to me. I think I'll give that a go.
  • Wow - I need to add some weights to my walking!
  • Just to update you all, I've just got a FitBit Flex. This is so I can see how many calories I normally burn and try and work out my magic number. I'll report back with some stats in a few weeks! Currently I'm burning 2200 - 2500 a day with my BMR and general activity (I walk A LOT). Hopefully this will give me some real…
  • Wow - it's crazy how little everyone has to eat to lose weight! I wonder if the doctors would take notice if we made them eat 1200 a day at maintenance! I'm currently trying to find my magic number. I've just ordered a fitbit to track my general activity and think I will get a HRM too for when I exercise. It's hard to find…
  • Same here! I'd just live on vegtables and pasta if i didn't eat quorn! I know a lot of people say it's bad, but I've not noticed any bad effects myself. I'd be interested to see if anyone has noticed a real difference giving up soy?
  • Yeah, my resting heart rate is about 55. Have you ever tried the 30 day shred? I always see results from that workout, especially round my middle. It's a good introduction to interval training and you can get them all free on youtube.
  • Lots of people find this - even if they don't have a thyroid issue. HRM are the most accurate, most gym machines (and MFP exercise estimates!) are really really over optimistic! I find my heart rate is about 120-130 if I exercise at a constant pace, but if I do interval training it can get up to 150! That said, I see…
  • Wow! That's an amazing amount of miles! Well done! With regards to pounds, have you been taking any measurements or measuring your body fat? You might be getting benefits from the running that don't show as actual pounds on the scale? I appreciate the frustration though!
  • I know the feeling of being treated like a hypochondriac! I've got another issue that's un-thyroid related and it took me ten years (TEN YEARS!) to be treated seriously! I only was certain I wasn't going mad when I finally demanded to see a consultant and they couldn't believe i hadn't been referred sooner. I love the NHS…
  • Thanks for all the posts everyone! It's good to hear that some of you have done it on just T4. I'm hoping I'm just plateauing like everyone gets now and again. I'll let you know how I do on my weigh day on monday. I've been really strict with logging this week and have stopped eating back exercise calories (after looking…
