1. I can't stop thinking about the 18-miler I have to run this weekend. 2. My favorite running snacks are sport beans, shot blocks and Honey Stingers. 3. I'm not drinking this week so I can be hydrated and PR in the 8k on Saturday. 4. Crap, I forgot my body glide! This is going to hurt. 5. Time for new shoes, I've already…

baby steps. Don't rush it. .15 miles is a good start. Rushing into running is a good way to an injury. You have to build up your muscles as well as your wind. Building up my wind was hardest for me. It takes time. Couch to 5k is a GREAT way to get into running. It's the way I started and now I'm training for my 3rd half…

My shin splints are a LOT better after switching to minimus shoes. Mine are NB. I am thinking about trying 5 toes shoes next. I am also trying the therapy in this video. Here is a link to it. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fDwY0QFsPqs

People are WAY too sensitive!!! If you can't stand the heat get out of the kitchen. Don't you all see that behind the yelling she really cares! You can see it in her face. People NEED to toughen up. I have trained under a person a lot like Jillian and if the trainer is too soft the people will quit. And Bob! My goodness!…

I get absolutely everything ready and laid out the night before. I eat my dinner early and set my alarm. and TRY to settle down with a movie or a book and a little wine to relax. I tend to have trouble sleeping before a big race. My mind wont shut off. I have no trouble before a 5k but before a half, going to sleep is tough…

I'm not new to running but I do love running. I just ran my 2nd half marathon Sat. and am training for my third one in April. And in July I'm running my 4th half marathon. I have a goal in 2014 to run my first marathon. Send me a request. I would love to have more runner friends!

Thanks. I might have had too much rest before my run. 3 days. They don't hurt just walking around on them at least.
-
I wear minimus shoes and they really don't need to be replaced very often. I've only had them 4 months anyway.
-
That is very interesting! I didn't think my shoes were too tight but maybe they were. I'll try it on my next run. Thank you.

36 min is very good! Sign up for a race though and you'll probable go way faster. Happens to me every time. My 1st race was around 31 min and now after losing 30 pounds my best time is 28.21. I'm still working to get it faster. BTW I'm 45 years old.

This a quote from Bruce Lee. It's pretty cool. Bruce had me up to three miles a day, really at a good pace. We’d run the three miles in twenty-one or twenty-two minutes. Just under eight minutes a mile [Note: when running on his own in 1968, Lee would get his time down to six-and-a half minutes per mile]. So this morning…

What ever you do don't stop! You have come too far to quit. Do you do any other exercise besides the gym? Find a new cardio to do. Go on bike rides on the weekend. Run a couple times a week. Try to enjoy the process of getting and have some fun. Sometimes when there is a plateau you need to change something up in your…

Keep your toe nails cut short. Buy running shoes slightly bigger than your shoe size, feet swell. Minimus shoes are awesome, my shin splint are gone and my back doesn't hurt when I run any more. Coffee with cream and sugar is awesome before a run but it will loosen the bowls so give it a bit after you drink it before…

Awesome! Dogs def. help you keep motivated.

OK,There is this dude at the gym who wears short spandex that leaves nothing to the imagination and those little stringy tight work out shirts. He looks like he is on steroids. It's very gross! And to top it off he in loaded down with chains and ear rings. To work out in! And when he goes into the locker (the guys that…

People run like that at the all the time. It's actually better for your feet. It's called minimalist running.
-
Hasn't happened to me. But I heard about this ultra runner who had his toenails removed cause he got tired of them falling off. True story!

I have heard a lot of weight lifters love minimalist shoes. Better balance and all that. I switched to minimalist shoes for running because of my shin splints. They are almost gone now and my pace has improved a lot! By at least a minute faster per mile. I use New Balance Minimums. I love them!!
