  • 4, technically I suppose. At my mom's we have 2 chihuahuas. One is pure bred, the other is probably a slight mix. At my Dads, two pugs. Petey, chihuahua mix Gucci, chihuahua (black) & Petey Jackson, black pug.... lol he looks like he had too much to drink, nor thrilled with the antlers, excuse his face. Dollie, my big…
  • Thinking about Mcdonalds sort of disgusts me when I truly think about it (or even exam it for too long before eating), but I still eat it actually. In the past I'd probably get a dinner of: Double Cheeseburger or Fish Filet with a Large Fry and Diet Coke. Maybe a 3 pack of cookies as well. For breakfast, I love their…
  • Numbers are numbers, whether they are on the scale or not. It is merely a measuring system. They don't define who you are, they don't really define anymore than how much space you take up. When you look in the mirror, you see yourself. You do this everyday getting ready in the morning, right? Let's say you measure…
  • You can't be losing a pound of fat a day, but you could perhaps be losing water weight since you are sticking to certain foods maybe? Are you exercising? How long have you been trying to lose? I recommend upping your calories (as from what you're saying it seems like you're really restricting -- how many cals are you…
  • The humidity in PA in the US is horrendous. It is enough to gag you. Unless you're running at 5am (and sometimes even then it is wretched), there's no use. I mean of course you CAN run in it, and people do. But I prefer not too because the heat and humidity makes my sinuses swell and creates more problems breathing.
  • We often condition ourselves to certain things without even realizing it. It happens unconsciously. If it is unhealthy, our job is to become conscious of it! You did that, and that is great. In general you are conditioned that when stress enters (stimulus), you eat (response). You want to create a NEW conditioned stimulus,…
  • Awesome references, thank you :flowerforyou:
  • I was eating around 1350 and I was pretty miserable. I always ended up hungry and always seems to JUST make my mark if I burned 300 cals or so and ate them back (so net of 1350, but eating around 1600 about half of the week). Because it was so difficult for me and I was often still hungry, I would overeat junk food once or…
  • I love all of these. The one by Aristotle has always been my favorite.
  • When I was put on it, it did not really affect my weight at all, but I noticed I was not tired and fatigued 24/7. Like some others have said, I think that a proper diet along with it is the key to its being most effective.

  • I've been seeing that around the forums lately. I'll definitely have to look into it. Thanks :-)
  • That sounds like a good idea, definitely. Do you think this will amp up my weight loss (or inches, rather) as time goes on?
  • I log. Over the past 4 weeks there have been days here and there where I have binged, and eaten 1000s of cals over my allotment. I STILL log it. It is not an excuse. Eat what you want, but always log. My slip ups tend to be on weekends (because I am not as preoccupied with work and staying busy) and so when I am wondering…
  • When you come on a forum and ask for advice for a problem, you will get advice. Lots of it. Some you might not agree with, others you might find helpful. Regardless, if you look at the pattern of this thread, there seems to be a lot of practical and rational opinions out there that you could consider. If you have an excuse…
  • Locking up the food or not buying the food will not solve the problem. Discipline and teaching respect will solve the problem. You're looking for a solution beyond the obvious one that is not an easy task, but cannot be overlooked. If you're not confident in your own ability to discipline your children's habits, then they…
  • Hi there :-) Feel free to add me as a friend for encouragement or support :-) I just started the 30 day Shred yesterday, so I am right there with ya!
  • Thank you all for your replies and your own insights. Glad I am not the only one with this frustration, and you all are simply amazing with your weight loss despite your struggles on the scale! I mean it! It is encouraging me to see you guys that have stuck with it despite the frustration and are doing so well. Thank you…

  • Thank you! This is really very accurate. It seems like nature (though ironically, very much the opposite) to simply always heavily weigh in our minds what the scale says, but what you see and feel should be priority in your feelings about weight loss. Just trying to make that shift in my mind!

  • Honestly, that sounds like something I would do and have actually contemplated doing it numerous times once I get my measurements. So if you're a dork, I'm a dork :-P But really.... definitely not a dork! Sometimes you need to make your own motivation, and seeing your own numbers progress is certainly much more motivating…

  • I'm glad to know I am not the only one with such thoughts. I have yet to take my measurements, so I want to make sure I do that tonight and try to just clear all this discouragement from my head. I do feel a slight difference in my body, but the scale just tells me otherwise. I think measurements is a smart thing to do.…

  • I gained 2. I am not sure if this is water weight or not. I am assuming I didn't lose any since I have a pretty terrible week. It wasn't horrible, but I doubt that I lost. I just hope I didn't actually gain. Lately I've been struggling with the scale. As encouraging as it can be, sometimes I think that taking my…
  • mikeyboy -- yeah, look at those muscles!
  • Yes, beautiful eyes :flowerforyou:
  • No crushes (yet) :frown: Haven't exactly been around enough to scope out the scene
  • This is so wonderful... thank you SO much for sharing; you seem like such a sweet person and you have no idea how much your story motivates me. I want to come back and read this again and again.
  • I think it is great that you found something that works for you and also you've done your research and know how foods work with your body. So that is great :-)
  • She notes that "maybe some of us can't work on the energy balance equation ALONE" and you said she can, being more mindful of certain things effecting your energy outside of the equation. Then that is not focusing on purely the energy balance equation alone..... are you agreeing or disagreeing?
  • This is definitely 100% true. Which is why I think meta cognition is important -- evaluating our own ways of thinking by looking at them objectively (well, as objectively as possible... outside the box) is important :-)
  • The problem with all these discussions about low carb (low whatever.. low cal, etc.) is that people just want a direct answer. That is not how weight loss works. There is a spectrum of factors that affects each individually different and can attribute to their overall plan for weight loss -- some of these factors the same…
