  • Thanks! It's a pretty generous gift card so cost isn't really too much of a concern. :) I definitely did check out the clearance section first though to get the best bang for my buck. Which specific tanks did you get, can I ask?
  • Coconut milk, organic cocoa powder, coconut oil and a pinch of sugar and cinnamon. Yuuummm.
  • Sorry for the self-promotion, but I've made quite a few batches of this in the past few weeks. Really easy and healthy, especially if you're vegetarian. http://randimshaffer.com/2013/11/29/food-fridays-slow-cooker-root-vegetable-and-lentil-stew/
  • Southwest quinoa salad: 3 cups cooked quinoa 1/2 can black beans 1/2 can kernel corn roasted red pepper, chopped juice from one lime 1 tsp. olive oil pinch of salt cilantro, cumin to taste Garlic quinoa and brown rice: equal parts quinoa and brown rice, both cooked (separately) in vegetable broth. Add garlic and salt to…
  • I do one of three things for my salads: 1. lime juice and olive oil 2. cottage cheese 3. "fake" ranch. Mix together some greek yogurt, skim milk and one of the ranch seasoning packets. Much better for you, and tastes exactly the same.
  • Check out Habitat for Humanity restores, Goodwill and Salvation Army/ other thrift stores for furniture. Or Craigslist. If there's a merchandise outlet store in your area, hit it up. I'm often able to find housekeeping items for very cheap there. And, if your school has a back to school welcome event, go to it. There are a…
  • Anything chocolatey, sugary or sweet. Desserts are my enemy. The fact that my mom is a pastry chef does not help matters at all.
  • Also, I'm not sure how your cafeteria works, but if it's anything like mine, one card swipe gives you an entire buffet of self-serve food. Maybe a gentle reminder that just because it's all in front of you, does NOT mean you should attempt to eat it all in one sitting...
  • Breakfast was refrigerator oatmeal: a combination of steel cut oats, soy milk, greek yogurt, cocoa powder, chia seeds and bananas. Made last night for an on the go meal. And my mid-morning snack was whole grain bread with natural peanut butter and flax seeds, with some strawberries on the side. Definitely recommend both!
  • Fry some extra firm tofu up in some lemon juice, garlic and teriyaki sauce. Super easy and delicious!
  • Lately, I'm digging Twenty One Pilots. Can't get enough.
  • No... but only because I don't swing that way. :)
  • Not Taekwondo, but a different type or martial arts (Isshin-Ryu) for five years before I moved away from my dojo to start college. Great work-out, great for discipline, great lessons in self-defense and great confidence-builder. Loved it.
  • I definitely echo what those above me said about making your own! Thin wheat crust, tomato-based sauce, low-fat cheese and tons of veggies on top. Pizza actually starts to sound healthy. Happy baking!

  • Thanks for a lot of the suggestions! I sat down with my boyfriend yesterday and firmly told him that I really need him to support me. Like a few of you mentioned, I think it is hard for him to understand because he can eat anything he wants and isn't affected in the slightest. I made a few suggestions, like, him bringing…
  • ^^It is very much this, I definitely agree. He tells me that he loves me how I am, and doesn't think I need to change, when I really am trying to be a healthier and better person for myself. And it's not so much that I'm trying to lose weight (I love myself how I am,) but I don't want to look at myself six months down the…
  • I do this ALL the time! I leave out the milk for a creamier veggie dip. :) So good! I love that you're sharing it with everyone!
  • 1. Coffee (Right up at the top.) 2. Spinach 3. Hardboiled eggs 4. Bananas 5. Hummus and accompanying veggies 6. KIND bars 7. Strawberries 8. Greek yogurt 9. Trail mix 10. Soy milk LOTS of veggies and healthy fats though. Mmm.
  • Lots of great advice guys, thanks! I'm glad to see I was on par with a lot of what I've already done, but I appreciate a lot of the product recommendations and tips for keeping my bike serviced!
  • I have my permit for concealed carry, no worries!
  • It's a Giant Escape 3. I bought a Giant-brand U lock as well, and I've been storing it in my apartment at night and in my workplace during the day. I don't plan to ride in the rain at all, but I have been looking at fenders- my city has some pretty bad roads and a LOT of puddles. Any suggestions on a rear rack? I have a…
  • Saucony. :) I overpronate, and it's the brand that best fixes that for me.
  • Fellow veggie! I started slowly, cutting out red meat, and then lean meats and fish. I didn't intentionally become a vegetarian though- I just one day realized I hadn't eaten meat in a month or so and decided to keep it up! I love the lifestyle.
  • These are all such great ideas! Thank you all.
  • I have not, but I just looked it up on Amazon- definitely worth looking into! I was hooked by the "simplicity" bit. I will have to order it ASAP, thanks!
  • I'm glad I'm not alone! Three of my meals kind of resemble breakfast, lunch and dinner, but I'm always eating snacks. :)
  • I totally do this! I pack my breakfast, lunch, dinner and various snacks and take everything to work/ class with me. Since I have it with me, I pre-log it all since I know I really won't be eating anything different. At the end of the day, I go back and make adjustments. I think it helps, because if I have it pre-logged,…
  • So many ways to get protein! I have a protein shake every morning- usually soy protein powder, soy milk and a banana. I mix TVP (textured vegetable protein) in to a lot of my sauces- it takes on a ground beef texture, but it's vegan and loaded with protein. It makes a great replacement for ground beef in anything. Hummus,…
  • Mix with Greek yogurt and garlic and use as a pita/ blue corn tortilla chip dip. Yum. It's also really good diced on top of eggs (as someone suggested), or I use it as a sandwich spread. So many things to do with it!
