I lost 17 lbs in two months without exercising very much when I first started. I mainly kept the calories to 1100 lbs a day and divided up my meals to eat every 3 hours. I agree. If you are not hungry, don't eat. Especially near bed time. I go over some days and under on others and just try to make sure it averages out over a weeks time.
